Quote:This. See also Origin of Powers arcs. (The contacts for which generally sit in list totally ignored.) i also generally don't explain enhancement slotting, inspiration trays or GM scaling in my character concept. Why do we need to explain every little mechanic? Sometimes that winds up with the worst material (*coughDoctorBrainstormcough!*).
To the extent i would acknowledge it in game i would probably go with the "holding back" explanation. Far more likely is to simply not pay or draw attention to it. -
Quote:There's even the implication that the timeline is fixed given that he probably killed Hitler at the exact moment that history says he was killed.1st comic: conspiracy theorists are so sadly, hopelessly deluded that you cannot actually 'win' an argument with them; much like internet trolls, you 'win' by ignoring them and doing just about anything else.
2nd comic: Hitler committed suicide in the Führerbunker in Berlin as the Soviet Army was assaulting the city, towards the very end of WWII, in 1945. Usually, when people suggest traveling back in time to kill Hitler, they mean traveling back to some point prior to his launching WWII so that the horrors of war might be averted and millions of lives would be saved. This assumes that there is only a single timeline and that changing the past changes the entire timeline after that point, a la Back to the Future. Obviously, traveling back in time to kill Hitler shortly before he would have committed suicide would be completely, utterly pointless.
EDIT: Bah, scooped.
Yeah, i came back for the commentary. -
i know it's been covered, but the OP seems to think that Negative Energy=Evil. In the CoH universe Negative Energy is the opposite counterpart of light/energy, but it is not inherently evil, just as light is not inherently good.

Dug's posts have that effect on me as well. i usually click each thread with a little bit of a sigh and the expectation that i will feel a mild urge to facepalm and a less mild sense of disappointment when i read what's actually written. Sometimes they're halfway good, so i read anyway, even if it's just for the replies.
i know the OP was intended to be some sort of "witty" baiting, but somehow i leave feeling sad for him.
*sighs and exits thread* -
Quote:/unsignedWell, if we cant get enough support together. To get them to review the invention system access. At least can we get support together to get them to review having salvage and recipes drop. I do like to feel rewarded for my efforts.
And perhaps get support together to have them review reward merit NPC, I feel there is a lack of what you can get with them, even as a VIP.
Forbin_Project, you cant be more wrong. We are 2 completely different people.
I do feel pretty upset that I felt forced to rebuild my character, and or change the way I play the game (by alting out with other characters). Unless I start to pay. Which I do, have, and will do.
Please people do not throw out the whole "it's only 2 dollars joke" some of us have different situations in life. Please do not tell me just pay them because I totally do when I can. I enjoy the game. But recently after the change to freedom I realized, I enjoy it at an unhealthy level. Fun is addicting period. Yes, I take things to heart and get angered easily if you don't know by now.
i understand that you may feel your position is the only sensible one on the universe, but i disagree. In fact i would say your post somewhat contradicts itself in a number of ways. At the least i'd say your post's logic is howling in agony. Stop that. -
Quote:Quite. Even the stuff i was dubious about when it was first announced has not failed to impress me. And the new effects and costume pieces... the new pieces... *no words* (Especially the new dreadlock hair styles on the beta server. i remember a former Paragon Studios Dev mentioning years ago their aesthetic opposition to adding any dreadlocks. Ha!)Dear Paragon Studios,
I'll be honest when they first announced COH Freedom I was optimistic but worried.
But with all the funds you guys are apparently getting from it, and all the returns we've been seeing (and will be seeing) . . . I have to say . . .
You guys are on a roll!
From,
A seriously impressed veteran player!!!!

Why do you care? According to you the game is dying anyway. (Yeah, i know you backpedaled on that and tried to claim that you only meant it wouldn't outlast the heat death of the universe, but you're no Romney.)

Quote:Dark Matter=Kirby Dots? There was also the official reveal of the Dark Matter aura costume piece and the announcement of Twitter code giveaways every Thursday.
Quote:Cottage "rule" or not when its broke you need to fix it.
If anyone from issue 1 o 2 remembers gravity control had Fold space for its tier 9 (basically the pre- assemble the team). It went live and was changed afterward into singularity. A team teleport and a control pet are not remotely the same thing.
This was established well before Castle, or anyones else's cottage rule was 'created'
regarding the summary so far, sounds great! look forward to trying the new fighting power on single target builds to get a bit more aoe.
FWIW, the "cottage rule" has never stated that powers cannot be reworked or replaced with a new power if the Devs decide to do so, only that doing so is the last resort solution.
So far i'm looking forward to seeing exactly what stuff gets fixed. And what stuff doesn't. The announced changes so far sound appealing to me. -
Quote:Hmm, did you catch this year's San Diego fireworks? Only 15 seconds long, but a very intense 15 seconds.Sam just likes a good forum explosion.
I do too, but being in the US, I at least had the July 4th fireworks to sate my appetite for big booms (though, to be honest, they were all pretty weak. once you blow up some of awe-inspiring stuff I got to blow up, everything else is just a faint echo. Virtual explosions online, though, are a different beast and haven't lost their fun yet.) -
Quote:Right. i knew that most self-healing powers worked like that and somehow blanked on it. *derp*Dehydrate, like Life Drain and most other self-healing powers, works off a percentage of base health, so Corruptors heal more than Defenders, and Blasters more than either.
So far trying it with a Water/Dark Corruptor. Seems like there are some fairly good synergies in that combo. -
-
That actually doesn't make any sense at all. In fact it runs counter to the general AT modifiers and stated design rules/intent. Although in terms of basic mechanics it would make sense if the amount healed is linked to the amount of damage dealt.

Quote:Wait, who propped up this straw man in the corner?!For all your people's whining about just playing how you want, you sure do jump down someone's throat for wanting to play in a way that leads to top performance.
i specifically said i wanted a man made out of bricks for that corner!

Quote:That's an excellent idea. i'm still unlikely to come here and wade through the clutter of posts about every AT but the one that currently interests me, but i've played every AT enough to give fairly useful advice on most more general questions if i notice someone asking. If the Build Workshop were made All Access, it might be useful for Free and Premium players to come to for advice on their characters, since they can't post in the AT sections.
To be honest i was surprised that it wasn't made all access when the other sections were since that was the only real use for the Build Workshop that i could see. -
Quote:You should be fine with one slot. Then again about 90% of my alts don't have Hasten at all, so i may be biased.ty..makes it a little clearer. Realizing I don't need an enemy using Hasten makes me think: I wouldnt need Hasten anyways with no enemies in my area. Hasten is typically (i'm told 2-3 slotted) ..I was thinking of just 1 slotting hasten saving me a couple slots better used elsewhere. Is this good idea? I dont wanna cripple the build and have to respec again is why i ask.

They gave the original ED-209 the Michael Bay Transformers treatment.

On an unrelated note, I'm predicting that I will see the sun tomorrow.
Quote:Ah, i see.
"Do not know history" means anyone who feels more than two millenia of usage of the word tyrant should not be abandoned for the more neutral, but not necessarily good, connotation it had for a few centuries beforehand. So we should ignore the last 2500 or so years of usage of the term in favor of the long archaic early definition? In some ways that seems almost opposite of learning from history. (Godwin time!) "In the early days of their formation the National Socialists were focused on rejecting the unfairly punitive economic sanctions forced upon Germany at the end of World War I and rebuilding the German economy. Why does everyone always harp on the stuff that happened over the following decade instead?!"
When "really just means" is a pretext for ignoring over two millenia of widespread usage i suspect you're being a tad disingenuous.
Quoting another one of JB's most insightful points ever that relates just as well to this topic:Quote:. -

More seriously i suspect Scarlet is original to Praetoria. And i want those armor pieces. -
Quote:Patch-based powers have advantages and disadvantages, especially against mobile opponents. TA is hardly the only debuff set to use pseudopets/patches, and not all the powers even work that way anyway (Acid Arrow, Entangling Arrow, Poison Gas Arrow, Flash Arrow). Traps also has many of its debuffs/attacks as pets/pseudopets, and in addition they also have to be summoned at the user's feet or at very close range (well, except for Seeker Drones).I'm not going to try and make the claim that TA isn't as bad as everyone is saying. I can't argue that it has a lot of problems. But it does have one aspect about it that I really appreciate: no toggles, every debuff is aoe. Get mezzed or run out of end? the debuffs stick around. No worries about your debuff anchor dying. Fire, debuffs hit (except for the powers that aren't autohit), no worries. It's particularly nice when soloing, too.
Does that make up for the large number of powers you have to hit and the subpar magnitude of the debuffs? Maybe not, but it is a nice feature that nothing else (except, sorta, for poison) has on every power. -

Quote:Eh, i found the other assertions also somewhat inane and farcical, but at least the first sociolinguistic bit was based in something that could be independently checked or rebutted...All I know is that I'm freaking furious about this minor aside in dug's original post which actually was about Jack Emmert and not sociolinguistics.
The rest was mostly fluoride mind control conspiracy grade making PANCAKE up.
