Why haven't there been any games that copied WoW's setting while taking the aspects of CoH that made it fun to play?
I'd play a WoW-alike if it had the ability to make my character look exactly the way I want it to (and not buried under ten levels of gear), dozens of possible power combinations for the same class (and I don't mean the difference between one build spec and another, but the difference between Inv/ and SR/ Tankers or Storm/ and Empathy/ Defenders), or if it had Mez powers that let me entirely shut down bosses (like Controllers and Dominators), the ability to have a large crowd of powerful and controllable summons (like Masterminds), and/or the ability to take on huge groups of enemies solo, regardless of the window dressing.
Why haven't any games copied those aspects of CoH (which you can do while still setting it in a Generic Fantasy Realm Of Elves And Orcs), rather than copying WoW's "everyone must look alike", and "Mezzes are useless", and "all members of a classes play the same as all other members of that class", and "One hero can take on one regular enemy, if you want to fight a boss you need a full group" aspects?
Rift did it (or close enough). They have a WoW clone setting but they managed to get (to a much higher degree than every other fantasy MMO out there) build versatility for different classes and a decent gear appearance customization, not close to CoH but as I said, far better than pretty much any other fantasy MMO out there.
On top of that, they keep the raiding mechanics so theorically, it should be appealing to pretty much any MMO player... unfortunately, the game seems to be struggling so I guess we who enjoy such kind of gaming are a tiny minority.- -
Well, losing EVERYTHING to start from sratch wouldn't be for sure my ideal scenario, yet, I'd do it, this game is too good and worth the effort.
Who knows, maybe a fresh start would bring back some of the feeling from back in the day when I started playing this, my 1st MMO.- -
Based on personal experience on my DM/Fire Brute, I've found out that a softcapped build for S/L dmg worked better for me than either a melee softcapped or a high non softcapped to all defenses, so if I were to build a Titan/Fire, I'd go for something like this one (please note it's not a lvling build and prolly not really good at exemplaring):

DM/DA can make a decent debuffer so I think it's great to bring something more to the table besides just dmg. I tried something similar on my scrapper, he ended up being a jack of all trades (and master of none) but it's the way I wanted him due to concept.
Soul Mastery for a Brute is way better for both debuffing and dmg than the scrapper's Darkness Mastery Ancillary so if I went for a DM/DA Brute aimed to both dmg and debuff, I'd do something like this build. Note that for this build, all +end accolades and the global endrdx Incarnate power are a must for me. Some attacks have too much dmg for my taste on a Brute but I was after the set bonuses. This build will be quite expensive though:

We don't get to cherry pick anything... or swapping any whole set for that matter, still can't see your point, see, it wasn't a request to change them, just thought they'd be more useful if re-allocated and wanted to know other opinions.
Now, saying the change would benefit scrappers but brutes would get the short stick with the change by being a cone makes sense, it's the kind of comments I was looking for, so thanks.- -

Meh, just reactivated my EU account and been working on a new build for my beloved DM/DA. I want to keep Darkness Mastery for concept reasons, so decided to go for Dark Blast because can't stand Night Fall, long animation, narrow cone, long recharge and pitiable damage.
I personally think Night Fall would be far more useful in Soul Mastery for Brutes because of the Fury boost to DoT while Scrappers would benefit way more from Dark Obliteration.
Anyway, do you people think this change would be positive or would it be a game breaker? -
Okay, just thought the "haven't checked your build" part might come accross as rude (not intended in the slightest and English is not my native language either). This is how I'd build a SS/Elec Brute trying to be as close as possible to your build, as I said, just softcapped to S/L, no probs with that on my DM/Elec so can't see any problems either with SS/Elec. I've changed char and got ring of fire instead as a set mule and changed Cardiac Alpha for SPiritual since, despite having a high end usage, Power Sink and Energize should sort that out nicely:

Haven't checked the build because what you're aiming for is very clear and it's up to you by what means you get to it. I'd say S/L softcapped and 32.5% def to Nrg/Neg is better idea than softcapped to all 4 since you're just 1 small purple insp away from softcapping those too, however, I personally wouldn't bother with Nrg/Neg def, my DM/Elec Brute is just softcapped to S/L and he does fine.
Obviously, you're including the Nrg def because it's tied to Neg def which is one the ELA's weak points. The 90% Nrg resistance makes Nrg def kinda useless, however, S/L softcap will sort out most of the Negative dmg too on mixed dmg attacks and for pure Negative dmg, SS/Elec has good mitigation tools such as Foot Stomp, Energize and Power Sink, so, as I said, I'd just go for the S/L softcap and wouldn't bother about Energy/Negative def.- -
I personally dislike weapons with Elec armor because of the redraw issue when using Power Sink, which I use often with my Mace/Elec.
My DM/Elec/Mu is fun char and was my favourite Brute until I rolled DM/Fire/Soul, which turned to be much better in my opinion. If I rolled a new Electric Armor char, I'd probably go SS/Elec or SM/Elec, specially if you're not aiming to get S/L softcap (which is darn expensive on ELA) since they have nice survivability tools like Fault or Foot Stomp and no redraw issues. DM/Elec is also great choice imho, lots of useful tools in the set too, mine's still great fun despite being relegated to second place by DM/Fire.- -
Things got worse on second mission and upon entering third, we decided to call it quits, Tank crashed and never came back and the MM couldn't fix his bug preventing him to enter any mish, not even after resetting his router. This doesn't look too promising with upcoming I21 Headstart on Tuesday, even without it, it's bad enough to pay for a game unplayable at weekends. To be honest, I'm so annoyed at this stage it crossed my mind this could be done by NCSoft themselves to promote players moving into the new VIP/pro/elite/whatever server, I know it's silly thought, but too annoyed atm to think clearly:

Okay, lag magically appeared this morning but doesn't seem to magically disappear. Again, broadband speed test normal when tested towards different US locations, every other internet application/game I use normal except CoH. We tried a STF about half an hour ago in Freedom, team leader couldn't get into ANY mish and someone mentioned it's a common MM bug (which is frankly worrying by itself). Half of the team crashed a few seconds after this pic was taken, upon charging against Arbiter Sands:

Hmm, everything seemed fine this morning from 8:30 to 10:30 am (CET time zone) and all of a sudden, I had huge red chunks on my netgraph and got dc'd while doing a BAF in Freedom, didn't have time to take a pic of the Netgraph, this was 1 hour ago, now I've noticed it takes ages to get in game, server selection screen took way longer than usual, getting in game also took way longer than usual and this is what my netgraph 2 looks like atm. Checked my connection speed and everything seems fine, no problems whatsoever in any other online applications/games:

I struggle to reach S/L softcap on Spines, I've found a build I made a while ago, realized I don't have Impale and Barb Swipe is just a set mule so the ST dmg will be pitiful. Also went for Alpha Cardiac because of the huge end drain hence the Hasten downtime is longer than I'd like, but it's S/L softcapped, but the lack of decent ST dmg is what put me off rolling one plus too many set mules:

I'd personally softcap a Spines/WP to S/L which together with the high HP and Regen should keep him alive on most situations in PvE. For when under heavy pure Nrg/Neg/Fire/Cold dmg, keeping said defences at 32.5% would mean softcapping with just 1 small purple. I have a Spines/WP on my inactive EU account so, for now, haven't planned anything for him but I've done a first attempt and came up with this build, just undecided whether I'm giving up on too much and spending way too much inf for the sake of S/L softcapping:

It's not how I'd build a Fire/WP but if it suits your playstyle, all is good. Regarding your question, I honestly don't think you need Fire Sword at all, you should be able to get a good ST chain with Incinerate - Scorch - Cremate - Scorch and of course, Greater Fire Sword when ready.-
If you want to keep Fire Sword as a set mule for another Kinetic Combat set, you might want to keep the same def and save a few hundred mil inf by doing a just few changes that shouldn't affect your attack chain:

Unplayable at the moment, having problems since last patch but half an hour ago, this went to plainly unplayable

Okay, so I've made up my mind and now made a new build inspired on Bass' one. Not as much regen/rchg, but I wanted to keep a proper use of Shadow Maul since I love it. Softcapped to S/L/Nrg/Neg/Fire/Cold with 1 foe into Invincibility range, 8 seconds Hasten downtime and 4 seconds Soul Drain downtime. Thanks to Bass' for helping make my DM/Inv fun again, I guess it's fair since this char was created after seeing a Ma/Inv build he posted a couple years ago which gave me the idea

Might be probably effective build but I know it wouldn't fit my playstyle. A lot of inf spent there and yet no perma-hasten or not S/L softcap plus the 1.95 end/sec seems massive despite having both Consume and Dark Consumption (1.95 end/sec with Sprint on, without sprint it's 1.66, still high I think). I take the rchg IO in Assault is a mistake and you meant an endrdx one. Toggling Assault on would make end usage really really scary (even with Sprint off, Assault slotted with an endrdx would take the build to 1.93 end/sec).-

Hmmmmm,
I've just noticed Bass build has 5xLoTG 7.5% Global recharge plus two sets that also grant same 7.5% recharge, so total is 7 x 7.5% rchg. Is it a Mid's mistake or do LotG work differently towards bonus stacks? I was under the impression you could only stack 5 set bonuses of same value, maybe something has changed this last year I've been not subscribed?
