DM/INVUL Back after 2.5 years need advice
DM/INV can be a god-destroyer when you fully deck it out.
Idealy you want to softcap S/L with 1 target in range of Invincibility and have decent recharge.
Not knowing your budget makes it hard to create a build.
I only have 38mil inf, but I can always earn more. The build itself is more critical right now I need to respec. I have crushing impact and dampened spirits so far. How do I find the softcap?
I think my favorite Dark Melee/Invuln build is the one Bass Ackwards plays. My copy of the build is from February, so it's possible it's been improved further. But it's very, very nice. Well, except that it's very, very expensive. Still, it'll maybe show you what we're talking about with the soft cap (45% defense). In this case, it's soft-capped with one target to everything but Psionic. If surrounded, it approaches the incarnate soft cap, and you could use Barrier to push it over. I'm guessing that Rebirth would be better most of the time, though. It also has perma Hasten, Fire Ball, the top attack chain, all the goodies. I do see one thing I'd consider a mistake, though - the third slot in Hasten is only buying 2 seconds of recharge because Spiritual means it's smacked hard by ED. I suspect there's a better use for the slot. Anyway, you won't be copying this exactly, but I think it may help to have an idea what the top end looks like, what you're trying to mimic on a budget.

Yay! Saved. Which Destiny did you go with? I'd have to do some serious calculation so see whether I liked Rebirth or Barrier more. Both have their attractions.
I need to get back to leveling my Dark Melee/Invuln Scrapper or Brute.

Rebirth Radial Epiphany. Even at its weakest, that Destiny power still gives my DM/Inv an incredible amount of Regeneration. I picked that Destiny power specifically to improve the layered Damage mitigation that DM/Inv does so well.

Thank you for the advice. I never would have come up with that build. What about a movement power. Also, how is the to hit and damage. Hard to tell from the creator.
To-Hit and Damage is more than enough. Soul Drain is essentially permanent with that build. My build goal for DM/Inv was to be as indestructible as possible without giving up much, if any in the way of Damage potential.
These days I never build characters with Travel Powers unless it is a must for character theme. I've never missed them. I have Sprint + Ninja Run to get anywhere I need to be, and soon I will also have Rocket Board. Taking out Travel Powers in the build lets me do so much more. It's incredible what one single Power Pick or even Power Slot can do for a build.

You'll probably be able to get just Ninja Run for around 100 Paragon Points after Freedom is live. I bought the full pack when it first came out, some of the costume pieces are really cool.

There's Beast Run too, if your prefer a more of an animal running animation. As ClawsandEffect has mentioned, after City of Heroes: Freedom launches you'll be able to purchase those Travel Powers a la carte for cheaper than getting it bundled together with the entire Booster Pack.

Hmmmmm,
I've just noticed Bass build has 5xLoTG 7.5% Global recharge plus two sets that also grant same 7.5% recharge, so total is 7 x 7.5% rchg. Is it a Mid's mistake or do LotG work differently towards bonus stacks? I was under the impression you could only stack 5 set bonuses of same value, maybe something has changed this last year I've been not subscribed?

Okay, so I've made up my mind and now made a new build inspired on Bass' one. Not as much regen/rchg, but I wanted to keep a proper use of Shadow Maul since I love it. Softcapped to S/L/Nrg/Neg/Fire/Cold with 1 foe into Invincibility range, 8 seconds Hasten downtime and 4 seconds Soul Drain downtime. Thanks to Bass' for helping make my DM/Inv fun again, I guess it's fair since this char was created after seeing a Ma/Inv build he posted a couple years ago which gave me the idea

Wow. Yeah that MA/Inv was my first serious try at using Invulnerability. I had a ton of fun playing that character! It was just after they had buffed Invulnerability - prior to that I didn't have much interest in the set.
The link doesn't work by the way. When posting Data Links, make sure you don't use the Preview Post (or Edit) button. It will kill the link because it is too long. Usually I will post the Data Link and the Data Chunk, so people can get the build from either way they prefer.
Cheers!

Ooopsie, here's the data chunk:

For some weird reason I cannot load Bass's build either via link or data chunk. I get an error about '. . . cannot load past the end of . . .' or some such.
Any ideas anyone please?
I am back after almost 3 years. My main is a 50 DM/INVUL scrapper. With all the changes I need some advice on builds and SETS. I like to group but do solo. I did manage to get my alpha slot. I have a few sets in my attacks but I have an endurance problem. I downloaded mids character builder but haven't done much with it.
