    Football

    Just No!

It's a superhero game! Go get something by EA Sports if you wanna play soccer!!
  2. Thanks FFM

to my knowledge I don't think I've got the latest drivers - but I'll give that a go.

I'm not sure I'll understand the code from the BSOD, but I'll do what you advise and give it a once over. Is there anything specific I should be looking for?

    Cheers
  3. There is this option:

    Hero Machine

It's completely unrelated to either Marvel or NCSoft so can be used totally independently. Clearly you won't get all the costume options but you will be able to play with concepts and colour schemes etc.
  4. I've recently started experiencing sudden BSODs and then my machine reboots for no obvious reason.

    Machine Spec is as follows:

    AMD 64 X2 4800

    200gb Maxtor HDD

    3 gig Ram

    Asus 7900GS gfx card

    XP SP2

Any advice/Clues would be gratefully received

    I got the DTs

I seem to have the delerium tremens when I zone on fly or hover and I've noticed it getting worse recently. This is a recent phenomenon, but when I zone I find my limbs shaking and my entire character vibrating. This only seems to affect fly/hover and no other travel power so far as I can tell.

Once I move the effect seems to deminish so it's clearly not critical, but it's very odd

i'm curious/worried how you know the sound of a base ball bat hitting someone on the head?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's remarkably like hitting a watermellon with a cricket bat... a horrid squelchy thuddy noise
  7. I was talking plant doms with a friend and I came up with a female plant dom/troller:

    Tabby the Tuber
  8. Almost worth slotting just to see what happens then
  9. What happens if I slot this in the stamina pool? My gut instinct tells me not very much but sometimes things work strangely in this game so...
  10. [ QUOTE ]

To name the two most obvious "energy blasters", neither Silver Surfer nor Iron Man's energy blasts are yellow,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not strictly true... Iron Man has had various different coloured repulsor rays including yellow over time

    (FFM, they're called "Instant Graemlins")

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's no Wikipedia entry for "Graemlins", thus I submit that the word does not and has never existed and therefore cannot be a synonym for Emoticon. Anyone who believes the word to exist is clearly suffering from some degree of mental incapacity.

I think you'll find that Graeme Lins is a South African cricketer

    (sorry)

I think I may be the only one, but I'm starting to get annoyed by constant Rikti spam wherever I go. How long is this going on for?

I know some people may wish to argue, but hey, it's my opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As has been said, you can remove the chat from your tab if it bugs you that much but considering the number of people who do enjoy the raids, and their relative infrequency, it's hardly "constant"

    Title Fix

    [/ QUOTE ]

You could have said Olympiad with no copyright issue.

In fact it's not possible to copyright a title (trade marks are slightly different tho.)
  14. Sounds like a lot of fun... but I'm not alone in thinking that max end for the PVP is a big nerf to Kins and Elecs which is a shame.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah that is another good idea and possibly would be very challenging on heroes side as they don't have any healing like traps provided to villians.

Only thing i want to point out is Luke Cage ain't a normal human, he is a science hero as far as i know (some accident or experiment caused him to gain stell like skin but not sure about his super-human strength)

Some natural heroes i know: Batman, Elektra, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Green Arrow, Robin, Batgirl, Huntress, Blackwidow, Swordsman, earlier Black Cat and Black Panther (Felicia gained super powers later on but after loosing them she is more of a Tech hero now. Black Panther in his earlier incarnations mostly refered as trained athlete (even in an old FF issue (possibly something between 200-250) when a bad guy neutralized FF's powers he didn't effected as his powers are because of the training))

    [/ QUOTE ]

Moon Knight is magical I'm afraid.. given his powers by the Egyptian God Khonshu and it's arguable that Batman and Black Widow are tech heroes, tho the line is fuzzy there I guess.

From memory Luke Cage derived his powers from an experiment in prison where he was dipped in a chemical vat which gave him impervious skin. He is stronger than average but not massively so. His partner Danny Rand aka Iron Fist is probably natural origin too with a touch of magic thrown in.

I'd be up fro some of this I've got a random assortment of lowbie toons and could make a new one iff need be

i rather have it lowered then see it pointless, it's annoying to lvl your butt of and then dieing ones....now i have to do it all over again...
i rather have a death penalty where my HP endurance and power output is lower for 2 minutes then having to grind even more for a lvl.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Too easy. Spend that 2 mins in the AH and where's the challenge?

    Debt is good!
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    Eh, why not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A shorter, better and more important question:

    WHY?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because, put simply, not everyone is male or female.

I'm going to be very serious for a moment. Please bear with me

There are intersexed, there are transgenders and there are hermaphrodites, to name but a few.

I'm lucky to know a few such people and some who are clearly born with a brain of one sex and a body of another. (I also know some who are very confused because they were born with both sets of organs but were conditioned to be one way.)

When a child is born with, for example, a cleft palet, or webbed fingers or some other "defect" everyone wrings their hands and elects for "corrective" surgery. When somebody is born with a condition that causes their sexuality into question, most people shun them. (There are plenty of M2F transexuals who will tell you about the physical abuse they receive just for being the way they are.)

Whilst I'm not aware of any transexuals or XGender supergheroes, it's entirely believeable that some have the ability to manifest however they wish (Phoenix. Scarlet Witch, Mystique, Proteus etc)

Put it another way: Ever played a toon that is not the same sex as you?

Why shouldn't a player have a beloved toon who can (or at least outwardly appear to) be any sex they wish?
  19. my elec/elec build is posted here

along with a few debates about her.

    Hope that's of use
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I'm probably going to get lynched for this.... but.. Implement negative XP for defeat, and de-levelling!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to agree with this in some way... When playing the good old tabletop RPGs, the one thing that would scare you as a player would be a level drain! It would certainly crystalise the mind a bit more than our current situation.

As most people seem to have commented, debt is far too inconsequential in the game now. The biggest penalty for defeat now is the run back from the hospital - and even that is becoming less frequent with the ability to combine insps for a wakie.

When I first started playing I remember getting seemingly huge amounts of debt at lower level, and I'm convinced it made me a better player - sometimes staying alive was an heroic struggle but now, there's nothing heroic or challenging in defeat. For a game called City of Heroes, that's kind of disappointing.

I too remember exemping high level toons in the hollows, and that gave us something to aspire to (and gave the Hollows a bigger raison d'etre than it has now, despite the revamp, tho to be fair there wasn't much else to do from lvl 5-10 in those days.

Seems to me that without some severe penalty for defeat the game is less exciting than previously.
  21. It depends what you want to go for.

Elec doesn't do great damage, in fact I'd argue that dps is probably lower than almost all other blasters. In many ways it's because the power sets are slightly confused, with holds AND -end drain. Pretty well all other blasters have a secondary ability but the Elec set has 3. You can be a sapper, or even a controller... it's a jack of all trades in many ways but can be effective to solo from mid level onward, but it's an excellent support role when you've got somebody who can soak up the alpha strike for you.

In PVP you're going to suffer a lot if you're up against anyone who has their wits about them. The -end and holds just ain't compensation enough, tho paradoxically I hear that pre ED things were remarkably different.

I'd say thematically it's one of the nicest builds to play tho if you can cope with not being uber, and I continue to play my over 2 years after I started - none of my other 50s get that kind of attention.

So have a play and experiment. With respecs available now you can always tweak later and you can see my build in a different thread but feel free to PM me if you want more info
  22. Ice is good as is Force Fields, from a defence point of view. Elec gives you a good hold and some good -end drain

I think there are some silly regulations from the gaming commission that require competitions that are basically free draws to have come kind of qualifying question, so they ask stupidly easy ones to get around it.

It's not REALLY a competition folks, it's a free draw (not that that's a bad thing!).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah - it's to prevent stuff being a lottery. There has to be some form of "skill" apparently
  25. That there's not much RP on Defiant I reckon is largely based on posts like this. There exists a veritable plethora of role-players on Defiant. It's just like the numbers - there's this kinda myth that Union is bigger, but the facts aren't really there to substantiate it.

I reckon it'd only take somebody to drive the process on Defiant to get a big public RP thing going. Just somebody needs to make an effort
