When faced with such an erudite, polite and well reasoned post how can the Devs refuse? I'm sure we'll be getting new ATs by the month end.
Yes there is scope for new ATs as some have mentioned but for now I can't help feeling that many of the devs have something rather more urgent to attend to. -
The buyer should be the one to know what he's bought but there are issues on NCSoft's part too.
Simply naming items "Perk" isn't really good enough and should be readily fixable.
We also need something in the Cossie creator (and optionally the UI too) to identify the various paid Add-Ons.
I'm guessing this is an historical thing: NCSoft have been kind of caught out by the popularity of the bolt on goodies so didn't forward plan too well. -

There's also this thread that I kicked off a while back: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...e+Names+Thread
Not specifically for people needing help but a good starting point - and useful for those who think of a good name but can't use it themselves. -
Without reading every post along the way I understand what the OP's getting at and have raised similar complaints myself.
But there's a differnt side to that argument too - because he and I clearly started playing a while back and often we have rose tinted glasses. For instance I had at least one debt badge on Scarlet before she was level 20
So comparatively, yes the game's a LOT easier now. Debt is negligible, XP comes easily and the leveling curve is so smooth that the horrible grind between about 38 and 42 has vanished
If I came to this game now, I'd probably think it's about right. I can get to 50 pretty painlessly, I can then roll and alt and do the stuff I missed. Great.
But imagine if they took the current XP "experience" and reverted back to the old way: No patrol XP, massive debt, that black hole... I imagine then more people would leave.
Personally I think that was Cryptic's problem: Back then they had no end game to speak of, so the levelling curve had to be tough (as they saw it) to prevent people getting to 50 too soon and then leaving.
Now we've got some of the richest content of any MMO, and so it's possible to have a good levelling experience and then enjoy the content as a 50. But I guess even then not everyone's going to be happy.
For my own part I feel the balance is right and the only change I'd realistically think about requesting is an option to turn off patrol XP. -
I've largely enjoyed the booster packs - I think there are some excellent selections in there.
The trouble is, as they stand it's very hard to identify exactly what options are available where. The character creator is to a large extend a victim of it's own success - there's so many options it's hard to find that particular item. Just finding the new bits is already a problem.
As we get more booster packs, and more specials, it would be great if we could get them easily identified in the creator - even if it's a separate drop down for each pack/special, not dissimilar to the Costume Sets option at the top of the creator. Maybe there should be a "Booster Sets" drop down in there too?
Much as I love the character creator, it's getting a bit big and unwieldy now so anything that helps is gonna be good -
Quote:Sure they could, though depending how you do it is the tricy part. they could do it like they did for elemental shields. A different weapon for each aura, and then just let us select the color scheme associated with it (like orange, green, blue elec shields etc)
What part of "No" are you failing to understand here? -
I refer the honourable member to an answer I have given this house previously

I really enjoyed the event. I got the badges on the characters that needed them and had some good times.
I'd echo the fact that the frequency was too high, and perhaps the event was a little too long too but only by a day or two although I can understand why. It's good to have daylight back now though
One thing that I've not seen mentioned - disclaimer: I haven't read every post in every thread - but am I the only one who's wondering if this isn't a precursor to something bigger? -
Less Ninja Run, more Dick Dastardly if you ask me but fun notwithstanding.

Quote:I understand what you mean by cutting down on alts but if you really think of it there's alot things going against you if you have alt-itis. To me they WANT you to have alt-itis. This is just they way I feel and the way I see it.
To be fair, more character slots per server was one of the most requested things prior to them being purchasable and available as veteran slots -

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
The Walk anim is fantastic and a great little extra.
Brilliant stuff! -
I believe that Longbow are not an officially sanctioned US organisation. They are fundamentally mercenaries and so the US Government can deny all knowledge. They are IIRC run by Ms Liberty - so the UN has no sanction to wield.

I've not read everythig in this thread but (in no particular order):
Transferring stuff between toons via the vault
Team Searches - where the team can look for members and members can see the team lead.
Boomtown and DA get a bit of love. Not Faultline style love but more Hollows... something to do in those zones
Opportunities to earn additional cossie slots once at the cap (I mean, you should get one automatically at 50 as a reward for completing your apprenticeship)
Universal Server Access!
PVP needs serious work! -

Quote:You may be thinking of Dominic Fortune who I guess is more bronze age than silver but hey, who's counting ;-)The mauser has been used in one of the Marvel Comics as well. One old silver age hero who is helping Spiderman out in his old days.
But it's a great pistol and I'd love to see it in game -
Quote:Interesting that you quote an article concerning Emmert just before CO's launch "This is what we did wrong in CoV, so CO will be better..."CoV brought in only 60k new users, which was considered to be under target. Which in turn led to the reduction of CoH/V's team by 75%.
Arguably Star Wars Galaxy's expansions also didn't help the game to grow, leading to the point where NGE was forced in.
Expansions might make some people come back and take a second look, but they aren't guaranteed growth or even growth levels that hits ROI targets. And those who come back might not stay.
How'd that work for them?
That article you chose had an agenda. I think you just might have one too. -

I think there's 2 seperate issues here:
Low numbers due to a perceived language problem (ie only people with reasonable French can realistically take part in the French server) and the insistence on the part of some for calling for a server merge.
Personally I'm all in favour of universal server access - I would love to play on cross server teams. I've got some great friends in Second Life, for example, who play but we talk about teh game but can't ever team because... they're in North America.
However I would quit the game instantly if Defiant got closed down. Defiant's my home and it would be a logistical nightmare for the powers that be to shut down any servers (and send a very wrong signal to the game watching media.)
To allow everyone to play on whatever server they wish, that would partially fix it for many but I don't know how they could cure the two language problems other than heavily advertising in France and Germany and somehow I get the feeling that ain't gonna happen.
I would say that anyone on either Vigilance or Zukunft would be very welcome on Defiant which is pretty active recently - which maybe might go part of the way to improving some players game experience. -
You know what I'm getting from this thread now?
That there's a small cadre of doom-mongers being terribly self-indulgent in a masochistic orgy of Chicken Licken proportions.
There's not many of them but they shout loudly and make lots of noise so the rest of us take notice.
We, the consumer, cannot know what is going on behind closed doors at NCsoft.
However we can make a pretty good guess that the CoH franchise is in pretty good health. When Posi came to Defiant's Pocket D, he said (bearing in mind there was no hint of GR at that time) they were working as far ahead as I18 (in other words 4 issues ahead at that time.)
We also know that despite their best intentions Paragon Studio don't manage expectations terribly well (Marketing again - let's not forget it was their external marketing agency that dropped a bollock with the GR announcement) but the Dev's manage to come up with some great stuff notwithstanding.
The game is in good health. Numbers are good despite all (continued) incorrect predictions, and NCsoft continue to invest heavily in the franchise.
My advice is to ignore the doom-mongers and get on playing the game. -
Some interesting choices... but the reason I opted for the C96 is two-fold - I like the look, and I want something with a retro look. Most of the guns we have are either contemporary, futuristic or too retro (if you take flintlocks into consideration.)
something pre-WWII with a lot of firepower would go well with a character dressed in 30s garb -
Quote:If you watch the video carefully, there's a lot of gun twirling. You're likely to get a lot of customization options, but I sincerely doubt a pistol with a shoulder stock would be one of them. Something like that would be significantly difficult to spin, and even harder to stop and catch right, not to mention look really, really odd.
Personally, I'm looking forward to some kind of large, blocky semi-automatic. The automatics we have now are nice, but not futuristic enough and not really big enough for what I have in mind. I'd like to see a few flintlock pistols, as well, perhaps even one with a funnel barrel.
On the note of gun twirling, I wonder if a handgun with a laser sight won't look really odd in these cases, or if the laser sight would cut out for those moments so we don't see it constantly clip through our arms. Curious...
Doesn't need the shoulder stock. Just needs the magazine at the front and the long thin tapered barrel
