Quote:Darn, well that clears things up...I don't think you understand the concept of redemption/fallen hero. Heroes and villains will not be able to fight each other outside of established PvP zones. A villain coming to Paragon City for redemption will be doing heroic missions in penance for his crimes. He won't be fighting heroes. By that same token a hero that falls from grace will go to the Rogue Islands to continue on his path to villainy and not to beat up bad guys. There is no PvP involved.

Are there going to be Free For All PvP servers? I know a lot of MMoRPGs in the past have attempted this and it's either a hit or miss for the players.
With the addition of Villains being able to enter Paragon City and Heroes able to enter the Rogue Isles, it would make sense to actually have FFA PvP servers and possibly safe zones or safe areas.
I'm not asking for opinions on whether or not this is a good idea, although I don't mind discussions about it either. I just want to know if whether or not the Devs have mentioned FFA PvP servers.
Thanks! -
Got a DM/WP Brute up to 33 and it's been an enjoyable ride.
I didn't think DM was this good when I started the toon. Honestly, I just started a DM Brute because I thought Siphon Life would fill the gap in WP, which has no self heal powers. At around level 25 or so, I started slotting damage into Siphon Life instead of heals and treated it like it's an offensive power. Quite amazing I must say. I'll probably slot Siphon Life with a combination of Damage/Heals along with some Accuracy and Recharge later down the line though.
I just think DM is the perfect power for Brutes. Fast recharge, pretty low endurance usage and extremely quick animation, with exception to Shadow Maul. I really wish DM had a powerful AoE, simply because Soul Drain gives more +dmg buff the more foes it hits, but the downside is that I don't have a good AoE to make full use of that huge damage buff.
I was going to respec out Shadow Punch but it's really nice to have...and I really don't know if I should respec it out or not. As of right now, my chain consists of Shadow Punch, Smite, Siphon Life and Midnight Grasp; it's definitely a complete chain and it sure does stack the -tohit debuff on quickly.
So, should I respec out of Shadow Punch? I don't think I can get a complete chain without Shadow Punch and its quick recharge =| -
I believe Strength of Will's recharge rate cannot be enhanced, right? Although, I guess this doesn't really matter since its recharge rate is still a lot quicker than most other god-mode tier 9's.
I would recommend Elec Armor as well. -
Don't know what you're going off about, bro. Fiery Armor is one of the best primary for Tankers if not THE best primary. Fiery Armor can hands down blow anything away.
-
Quote:Doing all that is really nothing though. My Elec Armor have done the first 3 things you've posted(able to do it with Bosses in the group as well), all with a budget of 130 mil, it's really not that hard. I haven't tried the 4th thing you've listed on your list but I'm sure it's really no big deal.Three hundred million. That's pocket change if you know what you're doing.
It's asinine to ask for the inf to do it yourself. Earn it.
Don't limit yourself to my budget though. Go all out. I dare you to use any means to make a tank that can do all the things I listed, which is clearly more than the NOTHING you claimed Dark Armor capable of.
Mind you, I did it with Fire Melee, which provides no mitigation of its own. All of my survivability came from Dark Armor.
Also, no Influence, NO DEAL! -
Great, so Hurricane has to constantly hit at least 1 enemy for the proc to even have a chance to trigger? What if I get in range of an enemy, back out, get back in range again and back out? Would the proc have a chance to trigger everytime I get back in range?
-
I have a Force Feedback chance for +recharge proc in my Hurricane power and I'm just wondering how it's going to work.
Hurricane is a toggle power, so does that mean the proc has a chance to happen once every 10 seconds?
Does this mean that Hurricane has to actually be hitting a foe in order for the proc to happen at all?
or...
Can I just stand there with Hurricane toggled on and the proc will have a chance to happen once every 10 seconds like other toggle powers? -
Honestly, I'd recommend a Corruptor or a Defender and MAYBE a Blaster for PvP.
-
Yea, animation time plays a huge role in PvP. The old Energy Transfer was pretty crazy, I agree. Just Total Focus + Energy Transfer alone can catch a bunch of people offguard, now it's like they can go grab a drink when you start your Energy Transfer and still come back in time to do something about it.
-
Yes, Stalkers can definitely scrap. You have 2 guaranteed critical-strikes, from Hide and Placate, which means that you wont have to spend as much time on Bosses as a Scrapper would. It also means that you can take out annoying mobs a lot quicker, such as Sappers, and not have to worry about a thing.
Your health is weaker than a Scrapper but that's about it, everything else is pretty close. I do admit that it's a bit more difficult during early levels of gameplay, but you should be fine once you get to the early 30s. -
Quote:I will, just tell me how much influence you used, in total, to pimp out your Tank...then send me that amount of influence in game so I can buy IO's for my Tank because he's sitting on SO's.Then I dare you to make a tank that can do what I've done with my Dark Armor tank.
Beat a group of +4/x8 malta and carnies without bosses.
Herd six DE monsters without any buffs from teammates.
Do the RWZ challenge standing next to a pylon.
Hold the aggro of Reichsman and his four AVs without any buffs from teammates. -
Fire Melee on Scrappers only get Fire Sword Circle for AoE, no Combustion. That said, there is a possibility for Combustion + FSC on a Tanker to out dps just FSC on a Scrapper. FA/FM Tanks can also get Fire Ball from the APP to work with BU + Fiery Embrace, which will definitely out DPS any Scrappers there.

Like I've said in another post:
-
I agree with the thread title, Dark Armor does suck and it cannot tank ANYTHING. NONE.
Edit: And I really do mean NOTHING when I said NONE. -
I agree, as much as people try to sugar coat this matter, Dark Armor blows.
Anyone that actually made Dark Armor decently good to use can probably put the same time/effort into ANOTHER build and get way better results than they did with Dark Armor. -
Regen is certainly more preferable because it pretty much has 2 god-mode powers, Instant Healing and MoG, granted MoG is pretty short, however on a regen just a couple of seconds equate to a lot of health regenerated.
That being said, I have seen a lot of successful /WP Stalkers out there. That nice smash/lethal resistance along with decent regeneration is pretty powerful. -
Quote:Nice! Is the temp power buyable at WW?Getting to 32.5% Defence is a good goal to aim for, since a small purple insp will then put you at the softcap of 45%.
Being able to hit god-mode with a single insp is pretty valuable.
I'd also recommend looking into the Demonic accolade (+50% Def to all types except Psychic for 1 minute, recharge of 25 min) and the Kinetic Dampener temporary power (+16% S/L Defence for 30 minutes usage)
Neither of these are the same as permanent soft-capping, but definitely help for those emergency moments. And for a Stalker, one minute of complete invulnerability adds up to a lot of damage you can dish out.
And yea, 32% seems pretty good as is already. I mean, I'll still have the 50%+ resistance under that defense if they hit through it. -
Prinny_God, your build may be good when the toon is actually at level 50.
However, the order in which you get your powers are pretty strange...
> You got Lightning Field at level 2. What are you going to do with that at such a low level? It's a MAJOR endurance hog and drawing that much aggro to you at level 2 is going to get you killed, mainly because you have pretty much no damage mitigation.
> Let's look at your possible attack chain for the first 30 levels(not counting vet powers): Brawl, Smite, Siphon Life, Boxing. FOUR low-damage powers for an entire 30 levels? That's going to be a painful ride. Yea, you have Lightning Field, yes it contributes a lot of damage over time during an entire mission, but you're still not going to be able to kill anything in a reasonable amount of time. It's going to be hard for you to take full advantage of Fury due to your low-damage attacks. You're also going to take forever to kill 1 Boss, let alone solo AV's like you planned.
> You have all those damn toggles, INCLUDING Tough and you pushed Stamina off till level 30? If anything, get Stamina at level 20 or 22 at the latest.
Don't worry, it's not just you though. Other people putting builds up in this thread are having the same problem with build-order. One person up there got Boxing at level 18, Combat Jumping at 22 and then Tough at level 30? What's the reason behind that? Why not just Boxing at level 18, Tough at 22 and Combat Jumping at 30? I understand getting Boxing early because you may need a filler for your attack chain, but there's no logical reasons for pushing Tough off till level 30 when you can simply get it at level 22, right after you get Stamina and can handle another toggle.
Edit: By the way, why did you get Combat Jumping? You're using Ninja Run for a travel power...is Combat Jumping just there because you don't know what other powers to get? -
Quote:First off, welcome to the game!Sorry for the wall of text, but any help or insight would be great.
/SR is pretty good, don't get me wrong, but I personally don't think it's an easy secondary to play for beginners. SR relies on defense for survival. In CoH/V, defense provides you with a chance to completely avoid an attack. That being said, defensive sets are extremely squishy at low levels simply because the mere 15% or so defense that you get isn't going to make a huge difference. In general, this means that if a mob hits you 10 times, 8-9 of those hits would land on you. SR also requires you to get ALL of the powers within its set in order to make it worthwhile. SR also doesn't have any self heal or any powers to help you with your endurance.
I would recommend a resistance-based secondary just because +resistance powers usually have a higher base as well, somewhere around 26% unslotted, and 26% resistance to something actually means that you'll always take 26% less damage from that source, which is much more reliable. Most resistance-based sets have high smash/lethal resistance, which is the majority of damage type that occurs within the game. You can easily get Tough to bump that Smash/Lethal resistance up a notch.
Also, all resistance-based secondaries has some sort of heal/regen as well as some form of endurance-management powers. -
Quote:Hmm, if Conserve Power didn't take anything other than generic IO's, that would explain why I couldn't find anything else...i dont think conserve power takes anything other than generic IOs, so how could you have sets in there to begin with?
and another question is what would that have to do with an old version of mids?
As for an older version of mids, I just wanted to look up some old powers. -
Well, I recently came back to CoH after a couple years of not playing and noticed that Conserve Power is now Energize on the new Elec Armor. Only problem is, I had that power slotted with some unique IO's along with others that were pretty costly...and now there's nothing in that power and my IO's are no where to be found :[
-
I want to max it out and see how far red it can go. Don't mind me if I start TROLLINZ!
-
Came back to CoH a couple weeks now and notice this red bar, used to be green, under my name. I have also seen posts where people are crying about their reputation.
So what the hell is this exactly? If I'm at -140 rep, does that mean that these 140 people hate me so much that they had to "ARGHH MUST DISAPPROVE POST!" ? -
Windows Vista = NT6
Windows 7 = NT6.1
Pretty much means that "Windows 7" is just a big patch to Windows Vista. Nothing's new, or at least not enough for it to be advertised as a new OS. Bunch of BS Microsoft is.
Anyhow, I've been having the same problem with my CoH as well. I actually posted a thread in this forum under "Game keeps crashing." You can read it if you want, but pretty much all I did was reformat my computer since I was fed up with wasting time downloading new drivers/antiviruses/malwares/registry cleaners etc.
