Yet *another* merit reward ticketing system? How very unimaginative.
-
They're nowhere near as populated as they were between 2004 and 2006, but people seem to have forgotten that. Nowadays they're okay with the ghost town servers. A lot of folks actually prefer it. I enjoy playing on Virtue and Freedom now cause there's always folks to play with there.
It is what it is unfortunately. -
Sploiters who were trying to earn uber prestige off AVs - not so much XP though. I saw it first-hand, thought it was tedious and boring but had to say the prestige for taking down one AV was nice. It'd be much easier just to up the prestige ratio though - then this sort of thing wouldn't happen.

Quote:Its not just the cost of objects; its the cost of upgrading base plots just to squeeze in more rooms to work with. Having energy, control and defense items mean little without base raiding turned on (and most folks outside of the PvP community don't care about base raids). An easy fix, without changing ratios, would be to make decorative items cost substantially less. This make it easier for some one to do some amazing base design for a smaller SG, without having too easy access for high end control, power and defense items.
Just a thought.
Like eveything else in this game, base editing and design are not being used in the way the devs intended it but at least folks are still managing to have fun with a system that hasn't been updated in years. Give them a little credit for trying to keep things interesting at least. -
Quote:Actually we talked about doing just that and the majority decided against it. One base doesn't allow 10 to 20 people the opportunity to try their hand at base building. Too many cooks in the kitchen, etc. At the same point everyone wants to try their hand at designing a large base because they can - and its fun. So that's what we did - we split up the dormant bases we'd built over the years on 4 different servers and told folks to go crazy with their creativity. If you descide on having a small SG, you descide on having a small base. If you want to see fantastic large bases... merge youre smaller SG's into one big one.
As for having extra prestige you never use, just because you don't know how to use 5 million prestige for base design doesn't mean others don't know to either. These pics can attest to limitless imagination if folks are given the resources to do it.
You see a sinkhole; I see art. -
True but only after 5 years of playing...
Keep in mind, I'm not asking for anything to be done with base building per se. I'm just saying make it easier to earn prestige or buy prestige in exchange for inf. The ratio of inf to prestige right now is TERRIBLE. That should be an quick and easy fix.
You're right, it is 7. I added the seventh room at the last minute and forgot to update the thread title. Sorry about that! -
One of my long-time SG mates, Angel Daddy, who'd NEVER tried base editing before in his life recently rose to a challenge I laid out for my gang, asking them to take existing bases and renovate them.
Here's what he came up with on Red Side Victory - and why the Devs really need to fix the Prestige ratio (either earned or purchaseable) by the time Going Rogue goes live...
I think you'll agree that you've never seen anything done with the base editing tool like what you're about to see in these pictures. I'm *still* in awe of his amazing talent and what he was able to accomplish with no base editing experience and a limited supply of object resources.

Why would anyone not want to have more prestige so they can do design work like this?!!
Devs, please consider improving this for GR!!! -
Color me disappointed, disheartened and let down but not surprised.
All along I though it was strange that this little piece of a much bigger whole called endgame content was tagged on at all. Its completely out of character for how this game has been managed over the years. I also don't expect we will see endgame/incarnate content in 2010. I'm sure we'll see I19 but it'll be a "light" issue full of content nobody was expecting.
As the old saying goes: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me...
Never again. -
What was the costume option people were rewarded? SG mate got one but doesn't know where to look...
-
Trust me, Dr. Quartermaine (the movie) was much more memorable than this - and that's not saying much, lol. Alas, I did forget (my brain is still scarred from 9+ hrs of running this TF) ut the thread title is now duly corrected. Sorry!
-
We ran the Dr. Quarterfield TF for the very first time ever this weekend, and as a team full of 5+ year veterans, here's how everyone chose to score it (10 being highest):
Do you *think* that maybe, just maybe... this TF could get a major overhaul? Nearly 10 missions out of 25 had the same map, same villains and the same glowies in EXACTLY the same place - AND NO BOSS IN THE FINAL MISSION (which for some strange reason finished up in Oranebega which made absolutely NO sense)! That was reason enough to call this the WORST TF in the history of CoH.
Please take the time to refresh/revamp this TF - if not the whole Shadow Shard. We love Rularuu and they're a great enemy to fight but TFs like this just don't do them justice. Thanks. -
Excellent news. I'm very, very pleased. Thank you.
-
I dig 'em both however kinda surprised by the disconnect between players saying "we want/ need animal bodies for SBP:V" versus what we finally end up getting (which I do like but its not at all what I expected). How'd everyone on both sides of the coin get the final product so wrong?

I'm getting some GREAT recipe drops that I'd love to craft later but I've nowhere to store them except on my toon's person - and now that's maxed out. I know I could email myself each one - one at a time - but that's time-consuming and laborious. I don't want to sell 'em either but as one toon is capped out now, I'm losing the ability to pick up new recipes.
How are folks handling storage space while the market is down? And is there any chance we can get alternative storage space for recipes in the future? -
Not sure why but any and all powers that were recolored have been reset back to their default colors/settings on all costume slots except the very first costume slot.
Its gonna cost a lot of money to get all these costumes/power recolors on every character put back to their custom settings.... -
Looks like emails are down too - I hope they didn't get wiped...

Quote:After having just watched a new FB Dev video for a competitive IP that opens up discussion regarding power customization while taking some interesting digs at COH's rationale - and then seeing this? I gotta laugh and feel equally disappointed. Saying no to *anything* for "purely fictional reasons" is absolutely absurd.
Positron: There aren't any plans to allow Kheldian Customisation for fictional reasons.
You guys need to lose this chip off your shoulder fast or its going to hurt the brand later on.
EDIT: Just saw BAB's follow-up qualifier. MUCH BETTER!!! -
By the way, how long before someone corrects the "Sumit" misspelling on the front page?
-
Quote:I had a supportive response but never mind... its pointless to comment or get involved in these discussions anymore. It makes sense that there's no fixing it now, but I am stating now how much I disliked the original decision. Not for pointless griping, but as something to keep in mind when going forward with future design decisions.
I'm grateful for what we've got; I just wish more could've been planned, prioritized, and executed better back in the day. Six years on, the quality of the game has vastly improved - its just such a shame it took this long to reconsider doing everything that was shelved, rolled back and outright vetoed all those years ago. And *still* we've got to do without on some things. Its not a complaint - just a regret (or perhaps a lament). You guys have done sheer wonders with the IP since it left Cryptic's hands - please don't underestimate how grateful we are that you stayed on and still give it your all after 6+ years.
Though they may not seem like much in the long run, it really is those little personal touches and attention to "trivial" details that make this great rather than good enough.
That kind of commitment means a lot - thank you. -
Ok, I don't know why, but I'm TOTALLY sold on carp melee!!!! Bring it!
-
That explains A LOT... damn, I wish I'd known about it before I posted that *other* thread. This is really good news.
-
I was wrong.
I regret posting this question and any follow-up replies, and I apologize for wasting everyone's valuable time with misinformation.
Sorry.
