Hero1's cape could look spectacular with this.

The only odd thing I put into my listings is "No Duos Please". I've just had way too many bizarre and bad experiences in duo pugs. Its like Murphy Brown trying to find an administrative assistant, or Mary Tyler Moore's Marry Richards trying to get a date: I always seem to find the crazy ones. A team, even as simple as three, seems to increase productive and fun conversation, and mitigate disasters and mistakes.

Quote:Ok, but give me a moment to buy all aqua inspirations. I think I'll need them. You should team with me sometimes, when possible, I personalize each gratz in a typically wordy phrase commenting on the character's name or powersets. Like for a TA/A defender I might say something like "Congratulations on reaching the next security level, may your arrows be that much sharper"
Quote:Okay fine then...
Ways to acknowledge the level ding without actually congratulating the player on their level ascension:
* "So that's what it sounds like when you stomp on a smurf... cool." -
Quote:SPOILERS (for those newbies who've yet to realize...)But she'd probably have to ditch Excalibur, because it's a weapon of virtue, thus can't be used for evil.
I've wondered about that. Will they be advancing the storyline beyond the LGTF, suggesting some healing and a return of the weapon to its original owner? Or will the LGTF forever stagnate the character? -
Quote:Umm...not to be mean spirited, but did you even read the rest of the comics? By the time of "Trading Place" it was really obvious in the banter that there was much going on between Manticore and Sister Psyche. It has a hell of a lot more substance than Manticore and Sister Psyche. I don't think either of them knew the other was even alive before he randomly shot a wedding ring at her at the end of the comic book series.
Quote:Okay, is it just me or is anyone else sensing a bit of couple vibe about those two?
I do think it would be interesting to in-game explore Statesman's need for a girlfriend/wife. The man's been widowed for a while, and yet, unless he dies in battle, he's immortal. I'm sure he'll have some sense of family from his descendants, but eventually, he'll have to recognize he's lonely. I wonder if the Lady Grey is available and interested? As an immortal herself, she may be the only in-game lady to match him, and wouldn't it be fun to see his uppity granddaughter explode at the thought of the leader of Vanguard dating her granddad? -
Without "gratz!" there are many PUGs I've assisted that I'd swear were completely composed of mimes and mutes.
rather than see it eliminated, I'd like to see more of the creative versions. Special phrases, use of special colors and fonts, etc. all those are fun and stimulate conversation. Just be sure to create them in advance with binds, rather than type them out during a fight. -
Quote:from the description, a staves/spears power sets would fill requirements 2,3, and 4. Valkyrie in Steel Canyon is the signature character for spears. this is assuming they "have time to 'do it right'", which really sounds like a 5th point. So if they can find a way to accomplish point #1...
The powersets are determined by a few factors:
- This is low-hanging fruit, with little assets from Art
- This new powerset can fill that gaping hole, its been a long time coming
- This is the powerset of X signature character, so it just makes sense to put it in the game
- This is something players have been asking for forever and now we have time to do it right.

What's the best surprise you've found on your little-played alts?
Found a Hami-O in the enhancement tray of one of my lower alts. I'd forgotten I'd won it as part of a costume contest prize. Since it would never match that character, I promptly sold that puppy for a mint and upgraded the character to all IO's with plenty of moola left over for the next few tiers. -
welcome back, Sunshine!
what specifically is choking you on the solo missions? if you've been gone a year, there's been a LOT of changes. Not all are easily seen.
It might help if you'd describe the characters by level, powers, enhancements used, etc. Have you checked your mission settings with the Hero Corp representatives? Perhaps they are set too high. -
Quote:I like Lemur's iceberg pitch, but that said, the idea of a Rikti base in a frozen wasteland makes a certain sense. They've been unable to win in the big cities, despite multiple incursions. Instead, they turn to gaining a secure foothold by creating a base outside normal human reach. Of course we'll respond. Left unchallenged, eventually they'll be strong enough to take over the world. But now we fight them in their (conquered) turf, not ours. There could be all kinds of challenges and defenses we do not see with the current ship raid, since the new location would be a base, not a ship.Put a Rikti base in the zone. That'd get people caring... Though it might just feel redundant. maybe a massive nemesis base? ...No, steam doesn't like cold.
But it would probably mean creating a few critters, like polar bears, and the devs have been reluctant to attempt this over the last half-decade. -
new2this,
this feature is in the works. There will be transfers via the mailbox. I can't recall if it will be in Issue 17 or Going Rogue, but its very soon. Do note, however, that it probably won't transfer from red side to blue side and vice versa. Influence and Infamy are considered two different currencies. -
Quote:simple answer: yes.I can only wonder what the mindset of teams on blue side will be when some of us bring our brutes over during Going Rogue. Will they expect my pimped out brute to play as a tank?
and I'd go so far as to guess you'll see it alot at first.
So from now until GR launch it would be good to get the word out to the "blue side only" players that incoming blue Brutes will perform differently than tanks. I'm guessing dominators, corruptors, and stalkers may have similar issues. MM's not so much. They are visually so radically different than anything blue-side, with the exception perhaps of illusion controllers, that they will probably be treated decently from the start. -
Quote:several of the game devices would not need to translate to a film. People can be understanding that games require certain liberties to function correctly.I believe I would avoid it like the plague. The setting is too built around silly conventions put in to explain "gamey" elements. Heck, the whole Rogue Isles thing is pretty ridiculous, just to start with, the concept of heroes being paid to fight crime is tenuous at best, hospital teleporters, canon characters who can bring the dead back to life, the war walls... That's just off the top of my head.
Honestly it would make a lousy movie setting.
Other game devices could be explained and used in the story lines. The hospital transporters, for example, could be explained as retro-engineering off of Ritki salvage from the first war. And in the film version, they may not always work. Portal Corp would be a perfect explanation for many of the dramatic differences between our world and the world of CoH. Our world developed differently: a world without superpowers and super technological advances.
I think what would really be needed though, are explainations that bring the non-player movie goers up to speed. There may need to be flashbacks, say in the titles, that show the opening of Pandora's Box, the increase of crime in Paragon City, the acts that authorize registered vigilante force, who Nemesis is (since he kicked off the war), things like that.
If, as has been suggested, the film is set around the time of the first Rikti War, then hospital transporters are not available, and death is huge in the war (assuming a healer cannot get to the downed fighter in time) The War Walls would not be there at first but would be added in as the story progressed. They may even be visually interpreted differently, like say, pure force fields that could go up a lot faster than miles of concrete (even with the help of heroes)
To the thread question, yes I'd go see it, if I had some assurance that it was crafted well. -
Its from MDK. I'll let the link explain in detail, but essentially its a sniper rifle built into his helmet.

Quote:actually, I'd be all for a fox tail on a tricorn hat. It would allow me to recreate my state's natural "superhero" Francis Marion, aka The Swamp Fox.Ummmm, I don't follow that logic. How is a tail (for a specific species of animal) more superheroic and useful than a hat (for a specifc era)?
Frankly I really don't see the tricorn hat being any more limiting than the fox tail. You can make patriot characters (including New England Patriot homages), colonial characters (goes great with the Baron coat. anyone for Baron Munchausen?), pirates and ghost pirates, even offbeat characters like The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. Also I recently read on the Internet about a (apparently nacent) concept dubbed "lacepunk", an attempt to push many Steampunk concepts back into the Age of Enlightenment (18th century). Knowing we have players that like steampunk and dieselpunk, I could see some working to achieve a Baron Munchausen-like "lacepunk" concept, and tricorn hats would be ideally suited for such creative ideas. -

Quote:You mean like my Blue Watch?
ATs: No requirements, but it wooooould be nice to have maybe one sheild/mace tank and a kheldian, hint hint hint.
Bio: The officer code-named Blue Watch is part of "Thin Blue Line", project name for an attempt by the PPD to turn "ordinary" officers into a tactical response force of technical heroes. Blue TACs, as the squad is commonly known, are testing a variety of powered armors and under-uniform armors designed to protect and augment the normal human body. Psychological response to the sudden increase in power is also monitored. It is hoped that one day the final results of Thin Blue Line will allow all standard officers to perform at hero-class levels.
too bad I don't RP.
But I wish you well.
And hey, "Let's be careful out there!" -
lol, love the "invention salvage found" line when States smashes Scirocco.

The following should work. Just finished testing it on mine, though I've not been able to test the transfer to another account. I am making a big assumption that you are using Windows and that neither of you use an Apple computer. I don't know if that changes anything.
First, go to the tailor's / facemaker's, select the costume you'll need. Save the costume using the save feature in the top right corner of the costume screen. I chose to give mine a special name to track more easily. Then:
1. Go to your computer's Explorer (In Windows XP, like mine, just right click on the START button, and select Explorer.
2. Navigate to your game files. Your default is probably C:\Program Files\City of Heroes.
3. Look for the folder called "Costumes". Open this and find the file for the costume you just created. Note that the extension is called ".costume". Copy this file and send it to your friend.
The receiver does the following:
1. copies the .costume file to his or her Costumes folder (same locations as 2 and 3 above)
2. start the game, go into the MA designer and follow the steps for creating a custom character.
3. when the costume screen appears, select the "Load" button in the top right. Select your costume and load it.
4. complete the character's design. When you save the results it will save the MA character under the folder "Custom_Critter" and it will be a ".critter" file. The original ".costume" file will remain in the costume folder. -
Quote:9. World Peace (Might as well ask for it, right?)
-Rachel-Quote:Good idea, BaBs should get to work on that. It can't be much harder than Walk.
Quote:6. Self-Flagged Open World PvP for Vigilantes and Rogues. (Fight other Flagged Heroes or Villains. Maintained through the options menu, probably. Standard: Off)

Quote:3. Fish bowl helmets. Seriously, just a glass bubble around the head with hair limited to short hairstyles. Why is this such low priority? -
If it ever comes to CoH 2, I'll be happy if the engine will permit weather and seasons in the game. I recently left WoW. Say what you will of that game, I was impressed with the various levels of rainstorms, particularly the driving deluge of a rainstorm we in the South call a "gully washer". I could see a showdown on the streets of Steel Canyon in the driving rain...at night time...surrounded by enemies. (Ok, now that I think of it, that sounds like The Maxtrix 3, but fun nonetheless)
And we're in Rhode Island, so adding snow storms would fit perfectly. -
This was a lot of fun! And there were some great ideas to borrow from.
If anyone else has a couple bazillion inf to pass around, I'd love to see this done with the Vindicators.
