  1. Its a little outdated in the current form of the game with so many additions to the original concept of missions from contacts (as well as the advancement of crafted enhancements), but I think the idea was that of "impulse buy". Rather than running all over virtual creation, keep focused on the task at hand and grab what the contact offered, if your enhancements had gone into the red.

I personally haven't bought from them in ages, except for inspiration. I'd love for the devs to reevaluate this in light of the current game and perhaps offer either more competitive pricing from the contacts, or some sort of unique enhancements, say for example, enhancements for levels not ending in 0 or 5. That way you only pay for a single enhancement and not three per slot.
  2. I have seen rain in games that was just fine with no puddling effects. With the light rains, the only added effect was the small splash at the end of the fall. Since Paragon City is in Rhode Island, I imagine they could have at least light snow flurries in game also with no accumulative effects. Can't remember how far north the Rogue Islands are supposed to be, so I don't know if they'd qualify for snow flurries.

I've also seen perception reduction due to deluge rains. Not certain an actual reduction was programmed in, so much as a side effect from the full deluge.

As to the "loop" thought that EU_Damz mentioned, one of the games I'm thinking of worked with what appeared to be some sort of giant dice roll. Every 10 minutes, roll the dice. There'd be like a 1 in 1000 chance for rain. That would keep it rare and random. Once it started roll again. There'd be a 1 in 20 chance that it would grow from a light rain into a deluge. Something like that, as opposed to looped.

One thing that does concern me for weather would be the effects on older video cards. I've already seen encompassing effects slow my older video cards (just got a new one so things are better) and suspect it might be so for many players with older systems.

Maybe I should add these to my sig...

I like the table letters assigned to shrinking: Py
  4. So in the end, Sylar lives to ride off into the sunset. Kinda seems unfair to the dozens of people he killed, including a few significant heroes along the way.
  5. Dragon*Con is closest to me, so I'd pick that first, but...
GenCon is in my second home of Indianapolis and I'm long overdue for a visit.

    decisions, decisions...
  6. The website lists Maurader's arms as cybernetic. So they're not power gloves like BAB? I was of the impression that cybernetics were permanent machine modifications to an organic body. Last I knew, BABs could remove the gloves.

I know what you mean about the population at Ninety Six. lol. At the bank I service, employees know all their customers, not just by name, but for life. Being a "Mayberry" kind of town can be a good thing!

You're certainly welcome for the info, and I wish you well in the search. Hopefully others in the SC area will have something else to aid you, too.

Looks like you're about an hour or so from Augusta, GA. Have you considered checking with players from that direction?
  8. very cool EK! I, too, chose to add to the rep.

It seems like your scoring might work for some of the fan videos. Have you thought of offering it for such? I'd swap it with the login music if it didn't violate the EULA.

I like your whole discussion ChaosExMachina, but am only pointing to these comments. Assuming the role of village idiot (its only a role, people), I ask: Is this really what Paragon Studios is thinking? Because it sounds cyclical and self-defeating.

    "No significant PVP", so...
PVP players tend to go elsewhere, so...
there'll be no significant fix to PVP because "there isn't enough of a userbase"
Potential PVP players won't stay because (wrap back to first line)

seems to me, if the above loop is acurate, then the answer is to break the loop and take Ray's path in Field of Dreams: if Paragon Studios builds it, they will come.

    ...Bulldogs vs. Gamecocks!

I'm pleased to see someone else knows about Ninety Six and its Star Fort. I'm overdue for a revisit to the Park. I like visiting several of the Revolution and Civil War sites around the state. Ninety Six's history really quite interesting, and I'm amazed at how many native to the area have never heard of it. George Washington's Second-in-Command, Nathaniel Green, spent some time down that way.

If any reading this wonders why the town is called "Ninety Six", you're not alone. I often see South Carolinians bewildered by the name . It was on a trail (which can still be seen) at a point that was (mistakenly believed) to be ninety six miles from a major Cherokee trading town.

possibly trainable abilities not inherent to your character's natural powers? stealth, grappling hook, that sort of thing.

Come to think of it, it might also have been an early form of the pool powers. Trainable leadership, medical aid, etc.

that's nothing. The Halloween event has your character eating candy as fast as possible until it, um, hurls thereby earning an achievement. First time I saw that in Stormwind in the crowded area by the Auction House, seemed everyone was puking their guts out. I about hurled at my keyboard (had the same near-reaction the first time I fought the Vahz in the sewers. )

Were there any easily-recognized external influences during that quarter? The only one I can think of is Star Trek Online, but that didn't seem to have even the punch that Champions Online had.
  16. Thank you all for the answers! I've read every one, although I've been reading them much too late and sent my head spinning. However, I slowed down, sounded out words, colored in some pictures, and I think I have the gist of it. Prostagulous may have summed it best for my tired brain:

That said, Body Armor is auto. Unless you're going for bonuses stick with the Common-IOs or just SOs, as you're not going past 50 anytime soon.
So, rewording everything to make certain I understand:
In my given situation: Body Armor, which is an auto power, with only one type of slotting, Damage Resistance, and with 3 slots that I've place in it, I am given a choice regarding any enhancement greater than SO's. I can either:
    A) use standard IO's in all three slots going for maximum pure damage resistance
    B) slot with set IO's getting whatever damage resistance benefit they offer, losing the other effects, since they're not part of Body Armor, but gaining the set bonuses.
    C) slot with Hami-O's, which may provide greater damage resistance than 3 standard IO's, but lose the secondary effects.

    Is that close to accurate?

I've not followed Mr. Lee of late except for his cameo work. What is the basis of your claim?

Edit: and although I knew about the California landmark, its only because I used to watch a lot of Travel channel and Food network. Only been to the Golden Bear state once, and was not close to the donut shop.

Yep. He was the god of beginnings and endings, such as travels. He was also the god of doorways: places that mark the beginning and ending of travels. (appropriate then that his name is used as the gatekeeper to side changing) His dualistic nature has come to represent duplicity. Sometimes he's referred to as Yanus, which was the underground code name of 006 in Goldeneye, implying that character's duplicity.
  19. I've done very little with enhancement sets so far. Mostly I just do the non-set level 50 IO's and move on to the next character I'm advancing.

I'm tinkering with sets this time though. Ran into something I don't quite understand. I have a character with Munitions Mastery - Body Armor. The power states that only one type of allowed enhancement can be used: Enhance Damage Resistance. It also states that there's only one allowed enhancement set category: Resist Damage.

To my thinking, this signifies that a pure Resistance piece from the Titanium Coating set should be usable multiple times on the power, since no other piece from the set would qualify, as only Damage Resistance is allowed. However, I cannot slot a second Titanium Coating: Resistance.

What gives? Why have a enhancement set category if you cannot create a set? I realize I must be missing some vital info, so what is it?
  20. EarthWyrm,

I don't have any opinion or contribution on the current topic.

All I'd like to say is that I truly appreciate your courteous approach here when many would lash out. That's very mature and professional. I respect you for it, and wish there were a host more like you.

    Airheaded Vision

As beautiful as the artwork is, let me set it aside a moment to say that your OP description of Airhead makes him one of the most intriguing CoH characters I heard about in quite a while. Its fascinating to read his power affects him as well. How is his "radiant gullibility" power played in-game? Psionic, mind control, illusion? Do you RP his affliction as well?

    servers down

Just out of curiosity, since it was mentioned as west coast servers only, is it Paragon Studios issue, or a external issue (power, data carrier, etc.)?
