  1. Honestly I am hopeful but as well concerned over this.

Often publishers taking over games can lead to vaste sweeping changes they feel is what we want and often is not.

Though with the current development team being a core part of the transition it gives me hope.

I would like to stress though that I sort of feel a bit cheated in the transition already. Now that both sides will be available to everyone it is sort of IMO a slap in the face for those who actually supported the games and purchased both.

I am hopeful though that crossover will finally come and I can get some of my characters changing sides.

We shall see what the next year brings but after such a great year this year ending with such a uncertainty for the future leaves me personally concerned.

On the other hand NC soft is a good company, and the majority of my interactions with there staff have been quite enjoyable.

  3. Hey Posi can you tell us about the snags thus far, and the status of a fix for the supergroup roster situation?

Unless of course thats issue 11

There were some "Board train" missions that villains could enter via a portal that acts like a train door in rwz.

Apparently that lead to some badges being given out that are forbidden. Wow, funny how the devs get all riled up about some badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Probably because if and when they decide to allow side switching in creates a even footing for badgers. In addition badge hunting has a large following and badgers can get a little touchy about missed badges

edit, after reading post: The Column shall rise again!

Ok I seriously need to say this....

What makes you so special on posting first after a dev? Tell me. I don't get this phenomena. I made a thread about a month ago on this but eventually it got derailed too far by some people so it was locked. But yet this keeps happening and mods don't seem to care.

Yeah, I can just not read it, but its a little hard when its right after a dev. You wasted your time to post "Weee, I'm so special I posted first after a dev! I want a cookie!" then went back and edited saying "Oh...after reading it, here's something to contribute to what was posted" (not exact quotes but still damn close).

Anywho, with that out of the way, I'm happy to see what I10 brings. No clue what enemy group will become friends but its obvious on who is returning and who was a friend, now an enemy

Huzzah to 3 years of great gaming!

Well II see little jump of excitment to be the first.

And it should be made clear Lighthouse is NC Soft hence a orange name not a red.
  6. Well in regards to the moderators alot can come down to individual reactions and perceptions people have with each. Remember that not every issue is at first discussed on teh boards and in fact people can often get fed up and vent especially if they feel ignored or mistreated they may lash out to make a point. Fact is moderators and community representatives are the customer service aspect of this industry. Customer service has and always will take the brunt of peoples abuse and often ignored in praise unless they are beyond exceptional or luck out with people that understand what they go through. I personally have spent the last 20 years primarily in one aspect of customer service and or interaction or another. I admire great customer service and have no tolerance for poor personally. But I also know that people have bad days and believe that things should be handle situation by situation and once one situation is done it is done move on and think of it no more. At any rate overall the community reps and moderators are doing a good job. Some support have stood out far ahead of others and some far below as is the way of customer service no one can please everyone all teh time and sometimes people no matter how hard one may try will never see eye to eye.

As for the developers they had in the past been their own worst enemy as they themselves can freely admit. Statements made or not made can create alot of frustration to players, giving hints has in the past bite them in the [censored] and not giving hints turns around and creates impatient frustration. They cannot please everyone all the time, I myself have been taken aback by some of their decisions at first but have seen the benefit of many of those I may have disagreed with at first over time. The fact is they are now far more caustious about what they say because of the potential aftermath of misunderstanding taht may occur now. This is unfortunate as they seem far more qeuit then they had been in the past. But as well is understandable due to all the crap flung at them as well. I admire the developers for addressing even those who have been abusive towards them in the past and their ability to try to understand all sides of things as best as one could I believe firmly that they aboe all else have a love for this game and its continued existance and my hats off to them for that.

    Cryptic article.

I doubt I will play MUO mainly because a huge portion of the player base will be xbox360 users. And the PC users are a very different sort then console users overall I would just rather avoid the clash.

And frankly I have invested almost 3 years into COH, it holds a special place for me. If and when I leave COH it will likely be the last MMO I play. Because if I was to leave it it woudl be that the MMO world had finally run its course for me.

I realize that both games are designed by the same developer so in fact Loyalty is sort of a none factor to some degree. But to me I still feel the pull of COH and it holds strongly.

Those that want to mix it up with the xbox 360 crowd I say have fun and enjoy just to me not my sort of thing.
  8. Honestly I am not suprised by the amount of games the devs have and do play.

As for them playing WOW beside teh fact that perhaps it is a interesting break for some of them. It also is a good business practice to study what does and doesn't work in the competition. This allows them to take the good and toss away the bad so to speak by learning what the other guy does.

Here's the writeup of his speech.

The only thing that jumps out at me - he claims bases are unpopular because people don't like paying money to contribute to group identity. I don't think that's correct. I think they're unpopular because
    1) they're too expensive for casual players, and
    2) they don't have anything to do with our day-to-day activities in CoH/V.

    Now,
    - make them cheaper
    - let us place NPCs, scriptable bosses, and a scripted win condition in them
    - let us open them up to other players to run as missions
    - get raids working
and see if that makes them more popular.

    *waves magic wand*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I firmly agree with your assessment and am surprised that Jack was so far off the mark on that. The cost of bases and rent in general have created a frustration to players more then anything. In fact costs aside getting rid of rent would go a long way at increasing base usage as well as the other ideas you suggested.

In addition sg mission computers that actually provide missions and tfs, afterall the hero side mish comp is a pretty decoration without much use except for the cathedral of pain, at least the villians get a sg tf.

Having the ability to place sg members that are logged out in the base would be a massively cool addition to the game and bases in general.

FOR JACK if he reads this bases are under-utilized because they go from fun addition to being work effort to being frustration to keep the door open.

  22. No it doesn't reset. Basically if you place for example large banner 12 all over the base, by changing 1 of thos it changes them all.

But if you use 12 different large banners they are all set to different symbols they will remain as such.

So if you want to make changing easier stick with 1 or 2 specific banner types and make editing easier.

But for those for example like myself. Who intend to make a coalition war room with banners representing every member of the coalition, I will enjoy this variable feature.
  23. Ok here is how the banners work.

The are of course set to your sg settings. But if you pick a different style of banner you can add multiple symbols hence creating the coalition type war room for example.

Or if you are of mind to make editing easier use the same banner style across teh base then you may have to change 1 or two banners depending on size and that will change all the banners of this type to the new setting.
  24. Just tested this in recluse's victory. And I watched as a stalker not hidden, and in all honesty it was hard to even see if he actually had any toggles on I pray he did. As 20 heroes attempted to hit him as he just stood their. I would presume either sr or perhaps ninja, but at any rate the defense of this stalker was to say the least excessive.

I think perhaps the scaling is way off from this observation.

Possible bug: When you place an item it locks the colors and symbol you have when you place it, and doesn't update when you update your settings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this is a bug then I hope it stays, the reason, well simply if your coalitioned with others you can setup a banner representing every coalition group you are attached too this way.

Sort of allows for a giant coalition meeting area to be created. I hope it was intended and stays as is to be honest.
