  1. Thanks for the reponse Noyjitat.

The character in question was Hero, and this was his 2nd morality mission - I was reaffirming his alignment. I'd already obtained, and accepted the mission, although I hadn't started it.

What I noticed when I picked up the morality mission again this morning was that it was a different mission (a lot easier as well ). Now, last night, after obtaining and accepting the morality mission, I levelled up: from 29 to 30. It was the last thing I did before logging off for the evening.

Perhaps when I levelled up, I lost the mission as it was outside of my character's level range? I don't recall this mechanic happening with other mission types, but perhaps it's different for morality missions.

A moot point anyway, I got the Hero merit I was after anyway.

    Cheers

  2. Hey All

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. I did search, but couldn't find any mention of this...

Anyway, I logged onto my MA Scrapper this morning, with the intention of running the Hero morality mission I'd lined up for him last night. However, when I logged on this morning, the mission wasn't listed in the character's mission list, and the 'contact' for the mission wasn't there either.

Not a major issue - I can easily pick up another tip, and get the mission again, but it's a bit odd. I reported it as a bug - in case it points to a wider issue with missions being lost - but I'm not overly bothered by it.

Just wondered if anyone else had seen this issue ?

    Cheers

It's generally the main way I come up with most of my toons - at least the ones that have stood the test time. Sometimes I'll roll a toon for a specific powerset, but these don't generally seem to last. Some of my main toons have gone through so many re-rolls as I try to find a poweset / AT that fits the name. If there's a pun in the name, then I find that I'm even more invested in the character.

These days though, I'm finding that all the best puns have already been used. Most of the bad puns are in use as well

    Europe United

I didn't get much time to play today, but a quick visit to Praetoria showed a very busy server - which is nice to see. For a reportedly dwindling number of players, it was good (in a way) to see the server status for Union at 3 red pips when I logged on. Something I don't think I've seen for some time now.

Back on topic - just adding another vote for 4/2 sg approach. (Although I admit I'm running late here )
  5. To be honest, it's not much of a prize is it?

You can purchase the booster pack for £2.99 on the NC Soft store and get the jetpack that way.

If it were something unique that was up for grabs, then yeah, it would be a shame that this was restricted to US residents only. But another temporary flight power? (Albeit with a different graphic) - I can't see that we're missing that much really ?

    (ducks for cover )

    My Dilemma

Yep, if you're not feeling it, take a break for a while. I've done this a couple of times before (although from changes in the RealLife™ engine), and it's always been refreshing to pop back to Atlas Park after an extended break.

Besides, I doubt there will be anything different going on here for a month or so anyway
  7. English...

... et je parlez un peu de Francais

The best way I've found to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. My French always improves each time I'm over there, but gets worse when I'm not using it every day.

Heh... I wasn't being entirely serious with that idea !

    A slightly more sensible suggestion:

    The European Union

    Although it's very server specific!

How about "The Shafted" (in recognition of one of the more popular threads in the European Lounge) ?

Seriously though, I'd be interested in something like this - even though I've never really done much with SGs before (save for a brief tenure in TANC).

I've just come back to the game after a break, and will be keen to get more 'involved'.... that's assuming anyone will talk to me after the above name suggestion !
  10. ... not least this post.

After 4+ years of grind and forum stalking, I've decided not to renew my account when it expires next month. This isn't a doom thread or moan - I still have a lot of fondness for the game that introduced me to MMOs. It's a simple case that I just don't have time to log on these days - at least not for any really significant sessions. Grown up responsibilities and all that, coupled with a lot more stuff going on in with the RealLife engine.

I know that leaving threads aren't really acceptable, so apologies if I'm breaking any forum rules here - but I just wanted to say thanks to all those I've teamed and played with over the past years. It's been a great experience (even if I only ever managed to get one lvl50 in the four years...)

I think GR will introduce a whole new dimension to the game, and I do hope it revives interest in the title. This game is still way better than any other MMO I've tried (yes, I did try that other title)

So thanks for all the random pick up groups, and to the guys at TANC for the(admittedly brief) tenure in their ranks. It's been emotional

And no, you can't have my stuff - I don't really have anything to give away

Some of my most frequent alts:
    RoboTank (duh!)
    ShadowCall
    Stone Death
    Cloudwalker
    Confession
    Stamford
    Edison
  11. Thanks Solaris. Sounds like the ticket. I'll contact you in game when I'm next online. (Should be some time this weekend).
  12. Hi All

I've been away from the game for a bit (no real reason, just had other things going on). I'm keen to get back into the game, but really want to avoid the solo playing that has largely dominated how I've been playing for the past 4 years or so.

I've a bunch of various level alts, all different concepts and ATs, across Defiant (and, dare I say it, Union as well), and I'm looking to resurrect these, and try to have a bit of fun with the game again.

I've not even been lurking around the new forums that much, so I've probably missed out on all sorts of events etc...

Anyway, to get to my point (I think I had one when I started this), I'm looking for any friendly Supergroups (and Villain Groups) out there, that might have place for my alts in their ranks.

I'm a fairly casual player, sometimes I might not be online for a couple of weeks, but then I might have a weekend where I'm permanently in spandex mode.

I'm not really interested too much in being a prestige farmer (but will work my share if required), and above all I'm just looking for groups where I can log on and potentially find a team. I've been logging in occasionally over the past couple of weeks, but pickup groups seem to be somewhat few and far between (unless it's my people skills!)

So, any groups out there with a slots for a casual player?
  13. Had a very similar experience with my first alt...

I didn't even intially understand how to 'use' an enhancement. I assumed that if it was sitting in your enhancement tray, that it was being applied to your character as a whole

I think I got all the way to the low teens before I finally rolled a second alt, and actually bothered to read the instructions in the tutorial.

50 months later, I'm probably still not much better at this game !!
  14. Powers that would just help me get through the average day at work:

Stamina - Just to make it easier to get everything done
Indomitable Will - To help get through meetings
Super Jump - For when the lift is inevitably broken

I like the way everyone's leapt at the power customisation idea, even though it wasn't specified. They did say they were working on more customisation options, but they didn't say what you'd be able to customise. It could be that extra customisation options just means more costume options and base customisations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At the risk of getting lynched here, that's how I read the post as well. I don't know about any other hints or the like from Positron, but as far as I interpreted BaB's post, it seemed to refer to costume options.

Of course, I guess it's all down to your own interpretation of the article - arguably the term 'customisation' is a bit ambiguous in the CoH context

Apologies, not trying to cause contention here. Just my tuppence. Let the wild speculation continue...
  16. Apologies for thread necromancy here, but had a similar problem last night.

I logged on old toon, one that I hadn't played in about a month - to find an old Radio mission that had hit the 'BOSS_NAME' issue, as mentioned above. Probably a re-occourance of the cause that PRAF68 describes.

Slightly different problem in the mission - all targetable NPCs were within my level range, but none of them were foes - that is to say, I could target them, but I could not attack them.

Most NPCs seemed to be 'captive' rank - indicating a hostage of some sort, although there were a couple of Tsoo Tatoo 'Artist' NPCs, but also behaved like non-foe NPCs.

None of them could be escorted out either. Very strange - I bugged it, and I can easily drop it, but whilst I've seen the BOSS_NAME bug before, it's the first time I've seen this variation on it.
  17. Have been playing the game for way too long, and have succesfully managed to acheive very little in that time.

    My one and only lvl50
    RoboTank Inv / Eng Tank

    Currently going through the grind
Shadowcall Dark / Dark Stalker [lvl41]

    Stuck on pre-grind holding patterns
Stone Death Earth / Rad Controller

Re-rolled so many times it's not funny
Edison Elec / Elec Blaster (at the moment)
Cloudwalker MA / Reflexes Scrapper (this build)
Confession Dark / Dark Defender (for now anyway)

I'm a major altoholic though - I spend most of my time on Defiant, but I tend to roll characters, play them to lvl 10, get bored with the same old same, and roll something else.

Most of my Villains are on Onion

I tend to solo, but mainly due to the fact that I'm normally on for erratic periods. I've not really done much with Supergroups either - RoboTank was a member of TANC for a while, which was good, but I never really participated, apart from the odd /tell.

What can I say? I work in IT - I long ago abandoned my people skills

Having said that, if I'm online for an extended period of time, then I'm always happy to team if I get an invite.

    edited for spelling and grammar...
  18. Since getting Robotank to 50, I've pretty much abandoned him - there's loads more content that he's not done yet, but I tend to only roll him out for events like Robot Rampage.

As an altoholic, I tend to loose interest in characters when I hit 'the grind' wall - these days, I'll roll a new alt, play it relentlessly till the mid teens, then get bored with the grind, and will go roll something else.

So, one might say that nearly all my toons have been replaced by others at some stage

More diversity = less specialisation tradeoff?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a good concept - adds a certain amount of control I guess, which I would imagine would be needed - otherwise you could end up seeing certain power combinations that become a 'must have' - something the current framework does a good job of keeping under control.

Having said that, if Champions has managed to implement an open framework, I guess it's not entirely impossible. Of course, if I had been invited to the beta, then I'd probably be in a better position to comment

I'd be open (no pun intended) to a more flexible framework though - if it could be done.

Remember when DXP actually meant something?

Just about. Although it was a long time ago. Around the same time that XP debt was something to worry about, and earning a respec meant working for it, if I recall correctly.

Sorry, the grumpy old man will go back to his chair now...

Oh, just realized, I get to tank the Hamidon *gulp*

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can blame me for that.

Good luck with the raid folks. I'm pretty gutted about missing out on the faceplant action
  23. Ok, looks like I'll be up for this, as well as Robot Rampage.

I'll be bringing along RoboTank, lvl 50 Inv/Energy/Energy tanker.

I'm happy to fit in whatever team you think fit Omega. Bear in mind though that it's a proven fact that I'm absolutely hopeless as a team leader, so it's probably better for me to be someone else's flunky. Additionally, seeing how I've not tried hami before, it's probably better for me to follow orders, rather than issue them (if you catch my drift)

What can I say? I'm just not management material...
  24. RoboTank

    Robot Rampage 5!

Count me in as bait. Had a great time with this before.

I'll dust off RoboTank, and will have a Kronos ready for the 1st March.
  25. Gratz Khorak - 39 Months? I think that beats even my progress - it took me about 36 months to get Robo to lvl50.

Well done. Good luck abandoning your Kheldian
