Level 20 bad guys in a Level 10 paper mission?

So, i'm playing my new level 10 Brute in Port Oakes, and i decide to take a paper mission to "Deafeat BOSS_NAME and guards".. On entering the map i find all the bad guys are level 20 Siren's Call Phantoms? Eeeep!

ohh, you got the Sirens Call Phantoms! lucky you.

Sometimes, after a patch Newspaper missions no longer point at the correct enemy group. Sometime this leads to groups that never made it into the game appearing, and this is one of them.

Enemy groups usually only exist across a limited level range. If they do not exist at the level the newspaper mission is set for they will spawn at the lowest available level instead.


I really should do something about this signature.

I had this exact thign once, too. I got a GM (not giant monster) to assist by completing the mission for me, after about 15-30 mins of '/bug'ging '/petition'ing it.

/bug will flag the issue to our QA team to check. /petition is what you need to get a support response. Sending multiple petitions will not speed up getting a response. In fact, it does the reverse: it slows the system down because of multiple duplicate entries that all need to be looked at by our staff.

Just ask someone level 20+ to help you with it. Most players will jump at the chance to fight a "secret" enemy type.

It only happens if there is a patch between you taking the mission and completing the mission.

sorry should've made it clear - i only 'bug'ged and 'petition'ed [u]once[u] and waited 15-30 minutes before the GM completed the mission for me.

I didn't actually spent 15 - 30 minutes doing multiple bug reports and petition reports.

I'd echo this - you might need to wait a few minutes while the take screenshots though
Probably quicker than waiting for a GM as well although you should still /bug it in that case.

Apologies for thread necromancy here, but had a similar problem last night.

I logged on old toon, one that I hadn't played in about a month - to find an old Radio mission that had hit the 'BOSS_NAME' issue, as mentioned above. Probably a re-occourance of the cause that PRAF68 describes.

Slightly different problem in the mission - all targetable NPCs were within my level range, but none of them were foes - that is to say, I could target them, but I could not attack them.

Most NPCs seemed to be 'captive' rank - indicating a hostage of some sort, although there were a couple of Tsoo Tatoo 'Artist' NPCs, but also behaved like non-foe NPCs.

None of them could be escorted out either. Very strange - I bugged it, and I can easily drop it, but whilst I've seen the BOSS_NAME bug before, it's the first time I've seen this variation on it.

Hmm... Well still love my little bug of the radio missions.
My radio-missions before a new issue somehow change into the new villaingroup.
I've had "loyal citizens" walking around my radio mission in Peregrine... and now I got Cimerorian Traitors. ;P

Thanks for reporting it RoboTank.

And a general piece of advice, please make sure you always use the /bug command when you encounter those issues so they can be looked at! If they were once fixed, it probably means we can fix them again more quickly. Thanks a lot
