And just what IS its "actual purpose"?

Feel like I've been thrust back into High School in my mid-40s.

Waiting to be invited to the party this weekend....

Still waiting...

Maybe if I sat more toward the BACK of the bus, instead of the front seat?

I'll eat lunch a little closer to the cool kids' table today...

Awesome Philotic Knight said Hi to me in the hall today!!!

Seems odd to me - don't get it.

Yeah.....

Me too!

My first invite to the Rikti War Zone I opened my map - found it - right there off Crey's Folly.

My team was wondering - you comin? you on your way? - waiting patiently as I headed for the RWZ.

Someone noticed I was in Crey's and asked via Tell: Have you ever been to the RWZ before?

Nope - they politley and patiently explained how to get there.

The team had a good-natured laugh at my expense, I didn't mind - felt like a level 35 n00b tho.

Nothing to do?

It's kinda depressing but not all that surprising to find that I'm the first to post:

Exercise.

Grap the Perfect Push-up handles from underneath the table and do a few.

Roll over a do some sit-ups.

Back to the handles...

Repeat 'til Servers are back up or you can't finish your 12th push-up.

O! I see! Okay thanks for both options. Think I'll stick with the single-post page, peeps can find their own way to the thread if they want more...
5. Thanks Mateo, but that takes you to the page, not the post itself. Dunno how that other person did it, but they linked me to a page that only showed that one post, not all the other posts on the page...

EDIT FOR: OK great, Thanks Archiviste - and thx for "teaching me to fish" as well.
6. Oh one more thing while I have your attention?

The link in my sig to a post in the Rude Tells thread no longer works, of course.

But someone originally helped me set it up so it linked directly to the post itself, whereas all I was able figure out how to do was link to the page the post was on.

Could someone please help me get it back the way it was?

I can find the page again if that helps, just let me know.
7. Does chat-logging only begin logging once you turn it on?

Or could I have a chat, turn on logging later in the same play session, and the original chat will be saved?

You can make 50 within a week just doing newspaper missions on the first setting if you wanted to.
...and in doing so, have learned how to get around Paragon City, how to find and talk to Contacts, how to use your Contact list, how to select a mish, how to use the Nav Bar and Map to find your mish, etc. etc. etc.

Leveling up via Radios, TFs, PI farms, WHATEVER, is simply NOT the same as leveling up via AE-only.

One way, you learn how to play the game as it was intended to be played, the other, you learn how to AE. Period.

This.

I reluctantly formed an 8-man AE team after trying, repeatedly and unsuccessfully, to find an AE team running a non-farm arc or mish.

Thought I'd try an arc recommended here on the forums: Have a Blap, Blap, Blappity Day!

Enter first mish, 5 members start wailing HEY - THIS ISN'T A FARM! and Quit.

One of the 3 remaining says "you really should have specified that this wasn't a farm".

???!!!!????WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??????!!!!!?????

Now *I* have to specify that it's NOT a farm?

Simply ridiculous.

And y'know - I don't have a problem with FARMS, persay, but I LOATHE the city-block map, same farm map the farmers have been using for YEARS.

I ran a "farm" mish a while back - it may have been my first AE experience - that was a very well-designed actual Farm layout - like you'd find in Croatoa - tilled fields, scarecrows, farm machinery, haystacks, etc. It was a BLAST!

So why only the city-block map?

And if anyone can point me back toward that great farm-map (actual farm), I would appreciate it. I might actually venture back into AE if I could track that down.

TWO level 50s in one weekend. *sigh*

'Course, I'm reading that as 1-50...quite possible that they were 35's, 49's, whatever.

But....*points to "Remember when getting to 50 was an actual accomplishment?" thread*.

For me, this weekend was my own personal "AE has ruined CoH for me" weekend.

After trying for quite a long time (in relative terms (vs. non-dbl-xp)) to put together a mish team, being rejected, JOINed/QUIT when they realized I was doing regular mish, etc. I thought I'd make my 3rd foray into AE, after two disasterous initial experiences in the past few weeks.

Joined AE team - it's a boss farm on the same old boring city-block map. First mob, team wipes, except me - I run for Exit and Quit team.

Try broadcasting for a non-farm AE team - and wait - and broadcast - and wait - no luck.

Decide to start my own team on a non-farm AE mish. Something recommended here on the boards: Have a Blap, Blap, Blappity Day!

Form 8-man team, enter mish, 5 members start wailing about HEY - THIS ISN'T A FARM! and Quit.

One left-over says "You should have specified this was not a farm".

!!!!!!! <censored><censored><censored><censored><censored> <censored><censored>!!!!!!

Now *I* have to specify it's NOT a farm???? <censored><censored><censored><censored>

I ask, Why does it have to be a farm?

Reply: I have to get to 50 this weekend!

Me: Why?

Reply: <none>

Team dissolves.

I get a Tell: Want to join team for a MISH in RWZ?

Hellz yeah!!! Travel to RWZ - Join team - it's a Farm team in the RWZ AE.

Gave the leader a piece of my mind - not specifying Farm - stating in fact that it was a MISH team.

Told the team that, that's it for me and AE, I'm never coming in here, ever again.

And I won't.

I hate it in there, I've never had a single good experience in AE in 6 attempts.

I finally gutted it out in the "real world" - put together an 8-man mish team and had one of the best teaming runs EVER, in 3 years of play.

Screw AE - I had high hopes, I was really looking forward to it. But turns out it's a freakin' disaster that has completely warped what CoH USED TO be all about.

Double XP weekend just made it that much worse.

Hey now - the main reason I come to these boards is because it is USUALLY populated with helpful, polite, intelligent, and often hilarious posters.

Please try to refrain from flinging around stuff like "full of fail"..."basement dwelling angry loser"..."butt hurt"...and "angry little rants".

It's just not helpful, hardly Heroic, and painful to read HERE on these boards.

This ain't GameFaqs or Gamespot here, young man, please try to keep it polite, supportive and helpful, k?

(p.s. with all due respect: One should always capitalize the first letter after a sentence-ending punctuation mark. Please?)
12. See, I was trying to do that (access cached versions) while the boards were down - looking for info in one of the Guides - but it wouldn't let me.

I musta been doing it wrong - my search-fu is weak. :-(

Many thanks, StarGeek!
13. Daaaaaaamn!

You some kinda wizard or what?!?

Nice work!!!
14. Rather than uploading my own choice of pic for my old Avatar, I just searched free offerings on the web until I found one I loved.

Is there any way to trace back the address at which my old Avatar image "lived"?

Don't remember how I found it, but do remember looking for quite a while before finding one I really liked - would be sad kitteh is sad if I can't find it again.

I'll start looking while you smart folks are typing your helpful replies.
15. Ditto was just coming on to ask this same question.

I'm at work so it could be a Firewall issue here, as well.

Will check back later to see if there's an *actual* fix coming or available (no offense Zombie_Man and F_W, just lookin for an "official" response, rather than a work-around).
16. Holy Crap....Fortitude + Aim + (Scourge-enhanced) Rain of Arrows will be a Win button.

Could they "legally" omit Scourge from a particular attack or would that send everyone into a frenzy?
17. Wait, I'm confused - are there any actual rewards or benefits from having a high post-count?

I know the tag over your name changes, but anything beyond that?

I guess what I'm really wondering is, why would anyone care one way or the other, how many times they've posted here?

CoH Jokes Thread

Last night my Contact sent me on a Mission to Investigate some brutal slayings over in Brickstown.

The bodies were found in bathtubs filled with milk & sliced bananas.

The PPD think it's a cereal killer.
19. So I'm very near-sighted and took my glasses off last night while playing, just to rub my eyes.

We were in the middle of a battle at the time and I must say, the screen looked AMAZING in my blurry-eyed state.

So many colors, and forms, and lines and swirls and action and the 3-D aspect looked really intense (the screen looked like a box with little characters playing around in it, rather than a 2-D representation of 3-D space).

And I wasn't really on much of ANYTHING (at the time).

If you're near-sighted, TRY IT OUT!

Swear to God - it's BEAUTIFUL!

I just wanted to get this out there.

Like the Subject says, its what I think each AT's role in a team should be:

Tanks should aggro the mob to them and try to keep the aggro from most people, especially the Defenders

Defenders should stay around the tank, focusing their buffs around them. However, if the mob begins to crumble away from the tank, the Defender should focus on the Blasters.

Controllers should stay in the back, and both hold the mobs by the tanks, and work with the scrappers by using their pets and single holds to "clean up the edges" of the mobs

Blasters stay in the back with the Controllers and do most of the damage dealing. Enough said

Scrappers role is to both to "clean up the edges" with the Controllers help and to protect the Controllers and the Blasters from the aggro that the Tank cannot hold.

If you have any comments, positive, negative, off topic or even in spanglish, all shall be welcomed!

Honestly, on my 50s, I just do whatever I feel like doing at the moment simply because I can. To me, the joy of having a 50 is being able to do what you want when you want to do it. It may not be the most productive thing, but I enjoy it. If you feel like doing TFs, do some. If you feel like going and getting a few badges, get some.

Overall, this thread has pretty much nailed it.

[/ QUOTE ]

This,

This is what I do. I love playing my 50's just as much as I love playing my lowbies. Heck, my 50 shade gets more play than any other character I have.

[/ QUOTE ]

And another This.

There's something very liberating about just...PLAYING with your 50, rather than hunting xp or inf or badges.

I like to just hang out in Atlas on my 50 Emp and buff lowbies heading into the sewers or heal and buff street sweeping lowbies.

Sometimes I'll grab my 50 Grav/Kin and Speed Boost and Inertial Reduction lowbies to help them get around quicker.

Sometimes I'll get to a point where I miss having a goal, at which point I'll just log off my 50 and jump on a lower hero for some xp-grubbin'.
