  1. I doubt "Autumnal Assault" is the new dom set. This is probably a set created uniquely for that character. That's been done before in the game (*See Ghost Widow, FrostFire, or Malaise).

This looks like the Praetorian version of War Witch, who hero side is an Fire/Ice blaster. Looks like they cobbled together some powers from those blast and control sets to give her a unique set.. nothing to see here folks move along. :-)
  2. My Huntsman build buffs with double leadership...by just standing there. Most SoA's are built with passive buffs, active debuff (+control), and damage. If you build an SoA for buffing only you will literally be just standing around (or if you're a fort occasionally firing off mind link).

The most defender like of the builds is going Huntsman-Hybrid w/double leadership. This is where you take most of the soldier gun attacks mingled with the Bane Armor and control powers. You'll have hefty buffs, debuffs, strong defense + resistance, and some pets. But it definitely won't be just standing there as a toggle bot.

    Necro/???

    Necro/Dark/Soul is a powerhouse.

Seriously, you can tank, control, debuff & heal. That and a ton of pets.

I have a low level necro/ff (heroic mm). I'm kind of thinking about dusting that toon off and giving it another try.
  4. I'm patiently waiting for the New Dom shiny s!. My guess is that Dom's are going to get customized versions of Illusion and Dark.

May I even dare guess a "Darkness" and "Light" control/assault sets!

Or a control set that would work for "Natural" or "Weapon" wielding characters.

Or the long awaited Magnetic Control!

And here's a way to think of it.."If everything happened now..you'd never have anything to look forward too.."

    Necro/???

I played a Necro/Poison all the way to 50. I had very little problems with him..who cares if a zombie dies..you have a power that turns a dead Zombie into a Phantom..to keep fighting.

Slotted up aklaloid isn't a bad heal.

The downside, fire and aoe's melt Zombies. But....I found using TP foe to take care of troublesome mobs (i.e Longbow Flamethrowers) more than helpful. Also when you get to the level where Zombies can heal themselves...hooray...that and take Life Drain and Gloom from your Necro primary. Most MM attacks aer terrible..but the Necro ones are worth it.

Zombie/Poison is very workable combo...poison can be not so great with other sets..but I found it really worked well with Necro. After it gets buffed, probably even more so.
  6. Earth Assault is a very good set. If you don't mind taking your squishy into melee range.

Earth/Earth will make a good combo, I can't think of any drawbacks. Earth control doesn't benefit from Domination as much as some other control sets..but it really doesn't need too.

You'll do good damage from early on and have great control.

If you get to power pool level, I'd say go for the Ice mastery is a good choice. Sleet and Freezing Rain will round out our debuffing abilities.
  7. I love the Shape Shifting...I'd love it even more if the animation was reduced and it was made uninterruptable. I really hope that happens. (*Hey poison got revamped, Doms got revamped, we can dream...).

Also, some love to how the UI for Shapeshifting would be nice. Right now it takes a considerable amount of effort (i.e. making binds or macros) to really take advantage of it. It would be nice if some sort of default UI existed that switched trays and powers for you. I was lost on my Kheld, until I read some forum posts.

Most people aren't going to do all that work. They will shapeshift and wonder where all their powers went and then become frustrated.

If there was some kind of default tray set-up; it might help those new to Khelds some.
  8. I wonder if the powers team want's to see how 'Dark Manipulation' pans out for blasters first. As I could see the control powers in that set, forming a structure to build a 'Dark Control' set.

Also, hooray on new Dom powers coming at some point. I don't play as I often as I used too, but some new control powers for dom's could re-ignite my addiction!

*Crosses Fingers for some type of natural/riot control set!*
  9. I love Amalgam characters it can be a lot of fun. Of course I read some of the old marvel/DC mash-ups when I was a kid.

    Right off suggestions are:

    Corrupter

Archery/Rad - Rad pretty much is the only set that feels "Lanternish" to me. I don't know if we'll ever get "energy constructs" in the game. As it so tied to the DC universes GL corps.

Archery/Dark. You can play with dark's tint and get some interesting effects. Also lots of synergy here. Tar Pit + Rain of Arrows + Scourge = Good Times

    Mastermind
Bots/Trick Arrow: If only we could tint our pets! So this one is a stretch, but you could RP the pets as mental constructs. Also they have the handy habit of buffing you. I've played one of these. Weird combo...and more effective than you might think.

    Defender:

Force Field/Archery: This one I think is the closest to the 'feel' of the character you thinking about. But that's my opinion..just seems like it fits the theme best.

Traps/Archery: Traps is a bit stronger (IMHO) on a defender than it is on a corruptor. But again we can't color its "pets".

    Controller:

Grav/TA You might consider a Grav/TA controller. Again, sounds unusual at first. But the Gav powers can be colored to fit your theme. And you'll be a control monster. Think of all the times GL holds, immobilizes, or slows down his attackers.

Have fun..I hope something I posted was helpful!

A Grav/Earth can do this with Seismic Smash, ST Hold, Powerboost, and Singularity. I truly expected to hate Grav/Earth when I rolled one. I was pleasantly surprised with how fast he soled!
  11. It sounds like your trio is going to have lots of solid control.

The problem is going to be consistent damage (even though Fire and Plant provide damage in their primary).

If you're dying to shoot pointy sticks at things here's a couple of suggestions:

    Stay a Defender and go:

    Traps/TA or TA/Sonic
    - Traps does everything TA does, but also provides team buffs & more reliable -regen.
    - Sonic Blast does quite a bit of -resist for a defender. With two emp controllers buffing you, you should be golden.

    - If you're still want to be thematic, you may I suggest an Arch/TA Corruptor? Especially if your team is starting off in Praetoria. You'll get the debuff later, but have near blaster level damage.

In the end you have to play something that you enjoy. If you stick with a TA/ARCH defender there's still plenty of synergy with your team mates. For example the Fire Controller will play especially nice with you Oil Slick Arrow. You guy's won't lack for safety via control against most normal mobs.
  12. Also, since Grav gives has a so many skippable powers, your can snatch up and slot your high damage secondary. You'll be like a blaster with reliable holds!

Grav/Earth Assault and Grav/Fiery being my favorites.
  13. You may want to consider switching to the Cold or Fire Ancillary pools.

Sleets debuff is a nice addition to Drain Psyche and PSW.

Fire will add quite a bit more AoE damage to your build.
  14. While it never seemed weird to me that "Warshades" leech power from other heroes, it always weirded me out that Peacebringers do. It doesn't seem in line with the lore of the AT.

That aside, it would be nice if teams got a little buff from having Khelds on the team:

    - Some Negative Energy resist from Warshades
    - A slight Perception Buff from Peacebringers
  15. I think Demons/TA might have the most synergy & be the strongest combo early one.

    - Your personal attack "Corruption" can light Oil Slick.
    - The Demon Prince's Holds should stack with Ice Arrow holds.
    - TA has heavy Debuffs that your Demons can take advantage of.

That's my two cents at least
  16. Grav/Earth gets good very quickly. Seismic Smash, Singy, and your ST hold can build up enough MAG to break AV mez protection. If you're not afraid of melee, Grav/Earth work out really well for you...

Here's linky to an old discussion about this combo:

  17. For those of you who have heroic MM's, what sort of background story or concept did you come up with? Also, I'm kind of curious about what MM pet sets people have been taking blue side.

I haven't logged on in a bit (pesky super long work schedule...grrrrr) but I last recall encountering tons of:
    - BOTS
    - THUGS
    - MERCS

To a lesser extent I saw Heroic Demon, Ninja, and Necro's

So what type of Heoric MM do you play?
  18. Thorns!

I love having Toxic damage! I love the spikes coming of the body..but most of all I LOVE THE CRUNCH...

Yah that crunching sound thorns makes upon impact...it just feels me with glee.

Yah back in the day I was often targeted for a quick death on my necro/poison (and I suck at pvp). Mostly because of the nasty -debuffs from poison. LOL /regen scrappers. I think most of us who've been around agree Poison is a kick *** set. It does what its designed to do: hard target take down. And it does it well.

It seems like people want /poison to be this AOE debuffing /rad clone, which I don't get. Ninjas' I haven't tried. But my sense has always been that are missing something. Do they get "stealth strike" or something? It would be awesome if Ninja's could AS targets. Anyway, I'm going to be keeping an eye on this thread, as I bet its going to get good-n-interesting!
  21. I would love to see more purchasable things in the NC-Store. There's another hero game that starts with a "c" that has loads of things in their store. But I love this game so much more. I know some people are against micro-transactions but I'm not one of them.

Purchasable pets, in-game-items, special campaigns, powers, etc... could all be placed in the NC store. I would probably buy loads of stuff and I'm sure other people would too. No cost other than development time and pure profit for CoH/V its a win-win.
  22. I don't see the huge problems with poison everyone else does. It's a single target debuff set and it really shines at that. Especially with hard-to-kill targets.

That being said (and I love poison, my first MM was a Necro/Poison) Poison Trap is an awful power. My only suggestion is to switch it with the Traps version. That alone would improve the set greatly.

My second wish is that Noxious Gas be castable on any ally, not just pets. The rest of the set is pretty rocking IMHO. Evenom + Weaken = the nastiest ST debuff in the game. The debuffing numbers are insane. In any type of AV/GM/EB fight a Poison MM is very nice to have around.
  23. OOOH.....I'm too busy these days with RL to game much anymore. But I'm going to follow this for sure.

My vote is for Freedom. You'll find lots of teams, most won't fuss over AT/Power Choice combos.

I played a Necro/Poison MM as one of my first CoV characters. I've never played a Ninja's toon. My guess is you'll find soloing a breeze. Poison is powerful solo set choice. As I recall I could take on most boss/EB/AV encounters without much trouble. Where I did have problems with poison was large team/large mob encounters. Upside, most teams found me useful when it came time to take out an AV.

But you're Arbegla, my guess is you'll be taking down Giant Monsters with your poison MM.

Then on my soldiers and spec ops, I have achilles heel -res along with touch of lady gray proc. I have a knock back damage IO on my commander too...

Its working great actually Ive been tanking/ taking the alpha strike for the teams I join and if Im focused, I rarely ever lose my mercs. Usually lose 1-2 on missions but sometimes I dont lose any. Ofc when wipes occur, I lose them all...

But yah!! You really need procs on them to bring their damage on par with the rest tbh... All of the soldiers attacks get a chance to proc -res and lady gray proc. All the spec ops ranged gun attakcs can proc lady gray... And most of the commandoes attacks give knockback o.o

Follow Leilaopkin's advice. Forget about slotting complete pet sets in them. That won't help Mercs much. With Mercs you must Frankenslot.

They need Achilles Heel Proc pronto. This really boosts up their damage output. The soldiers attacks all have chances of firing the proc. You'll see the debuff on mobs often and it really ups the pet damage.

If you don't have leadership, get it. Especially Assault and Tactics. Assault will up your pets overall damage. If you don't get anything else, get assault.

Maneuvers can stack a with your defense proc, but I wouldn't rush to get it at this point.

They also need the Pet Damage Resistance and Def Procs. These help.
  25. Do Merc's and Ninja's need some tweaking? Yes..they do. There have been issues with those two sets, since CoV launched years ago. We are all aware of the problems of those two sets.

Do MM's as a whole need a buff? Probably not. MMs can steamroll through the vast majority of the games content. Seriously they can. The newer content is designed to be challenging to all AT's, including MM's.

The new content is harder, because its SUPPOSED TO BE HARDER. It's the end-game. You may have to create a separate build; explore different tactics, etc.. But thats thats as it should be.
