Way to say F-U to your loyal community DEVs... Who cares if people wanna farm, cant we play our own way? No? We cant? Then we may as well move on to a new game that lets us play OUR WAY!
On a related note, MARTy nerfed a buddy of mine for getting 2 purples in a row in a normal mission... If this new system is gonna nerf us for stuff the random number generator does on a regular basis then it needs to be pulled... like now!
I am usually a supporter of the devs too, but this MARTy **** is too much, I HATE people telling others how to play, not even DEVs and GMs should do that! As long as they aren't hurting anything or anyone let them farm! -
I loled at all of the above posts... Yes, I would like this new patience power, but I can wait for it till the DEVs are ready to release it.

I have a kinda half sarcastic question about the new Time Manipulation powerset coming out in I21, a friend of mine mentioned it to me and a few other friends over Skype as a joke and I thought it was funny enough to mention to the rest of the community. I would put it in the For Fun! forums, but as it is a question and the For Fun forums do not have any sub-forum for asking questions I thought it more appropriate to put it here. So, Zorin asked this and many of you know him from Protector or Freedom or the few other servers he plays on.
Will Time Manipulation have the ability in it to fast-forward you to 50 instantly?
*You may insert your own jokes and snark below this post, maybe we can get a half sarcastic answer from a GM or DEV* -
Another year older, another year wise-- PFFFT!! HAHAHA!! Sorry Rasta, just couldn't keep a straight face through that... Anyway, Happy Birthday!!!

I have a suggestion, and I know it has probably been suggested before, but for the shields, I would like a meatshield, a piece of meat as a shield, it would give validity to the meatshield comment and be kinda funny... I would totally make a shield toon if there was a meatshield in the game...

21 50s... geeze, you must have farmed those boss farms in AE a lot...
I think I will just tell the AE babies to go see Faathim the Kind for the best farms... *evil laughter* or tell them to hit alt+f4 to warp anywhere the next time they ask me where a obvious zone is...
Not knowing how to get to the Shadow Shard is one thing, not knowing how to get to Kings Row?! "Alt+F4 will warp you there AE Noob" *evil cackle* -
Quote:It most definetly is!Yes, that whole conquering-the-multiverse thing is such a morally complex problem - is enslaving all of existence under the rule of an insane god-emperor the right choice or not?
On a more serious note though, there ARE those in the loyalist faction that want to keep Praetoria safe and they believe that Emporer Cole is their hero cause he keeps them safe from the hamidon, the resistance, themselves...
If they saw what was behind the curtain though, they would probably turn against Cole. Seriously, play the Loyalist arc, you will see that most of the contacts in the Responsibility arc are just worried about the safety of Praetoria and are willing to do anything to protect it.
Now if only we could get them to see behind the iron curtain... -
Damn, now I totally regret having most of my toons sell their tiny stacks of candy canes...
PS: Hey Stoner, I love your avatar gif, where did you find it? -
Was searching for the best place to put this and this was the closest place I found to what I intend to post...
Saw this while doing a paper mission over in Cap on my Brute...
As you may notice, the Eagle Enforcer to the right is trying to drown himself apparently...
Maybe he regrets the direction his life has taken and is trying to end it all...
Just thought someone out there needed a lol like I got when I saw it... -
Take a couple of competent bow defenders with you on an ITF or something like that. A couple of SGmates went on an ITF a few issues back (3 or 4) and it was mainly because of them that Nictus Rommy went down within less than 3 minutes.

Quote:Tell that to my hero and villain kids. Apparently Recluse gets how those words can be taken out of context, he more than likely does not care what the world thinks, he already is a successful supervillain with a HUGE rep sheet, adding more crimes to it, whether he committed them or not, does not matter to him. There aren't any gas stations either. Or churches.
Penny Yin is young but not a "child" (depending on how you wish to define it). Penelope is a child.
We can't play children because you have to be an adult to get a hero license. Arachnos won't issue villain licenses to kids either no matter how evil they are. Lord Recluse refuses to believe that a kid can be his chosen one - mostly because of the implications of those words.
My solution is to not play 8-year-olds.
If it turns out a very powerful child can bring about his New World Order, then he will gladly accept some false charges to do it. Its not like he will be arrested for them anyway. -
Quote:I can totally understand why there are no children in this game. Because society as a whole, is pretty stupid, and if you give them something like playable children, or even NPC children, in an MMO, they WILL do very stupid and perverted things with them. I am ok with the height slider and the other sliders to make my child heroes and villains, though the chest slider for the girl models is annoying, I wind up with little girls who seem to have hit puberty really early. While some benefits would be obvious (creating young characters inspired by stories from my youth, like "The Dark is Rising" and "Chronicles of Narnia" series of books), there is the danger that a few unscrupulous individuals would portray the characters inappropriately, or interact with other player characters inappropriately. This goes beyond ESRB rating issues. The FBI takes child exploitation seriously, and devotes a sizable chunk of its resources to investigating crime online. Consequently, it would take only a small misunderstanding to give customer support a real headache. They should avoid the can of worms entirely.
As I recall, characters as young children were playable in early beta tests for [CENSORED] (the father of modern MMORPGs). But they were quickly scrapped from the game (even as NPCs) when it became apparent that the game's community, as a whole, could not use the feature responsibly. And it's not just adults-who-know-better that cause problems. If any of you have ever moderated an online game, then you know that some of the worst offenders are--surprise, surprise--young children. -
Another suggestion to people wanting to do this on their respective server, try to do it at a different time than the regular raid, so the people wanting the regular raid can get in zone for the regular raid, and the people wanting a bombing run will have something to go to as well. Because the zones have caps on how many players can be in them before a second instance of that zone opens up and directs more players to the second instance.

My suggestion to the original poster; actually get a hero and a villain past level 20 (now as of i17) and create both a PB and a WS and a Arachnos Soldier and a Widow and play them all up past 35 or w/e and play their stories through, Granted, the Kheld storyline needs a total overhaul as it is just old, and the SoA storyline has been said by many players to be very lacking... and then come back to this thread and make an intelligent suggestion instead of basing your factoids on "Well the WS powers are dark so they must be evil" and suggesting a very vanilla EAT to us that can already be recreated as it is...

So far, Leo has made the best argument against this whole "Stalkers need to do as much straight damage and get AoEs just like scrappers have." Granted, that is not how this whole thing got started, but it is basically what it devolved into, Stalkers will never be a straight port of Scrappers as Scrappers are just fighters and Stalkers are assassins that kill one target at a time, it is the whole draw of a Stalker that you are killing single enemies with "burst damage" as it is called and not jumping into the fray and hitting things till they are dead like a Scrapper does. I am not really a numbers person but Stalkers do do what they are meant to do, though a little boost to some of their numbers of what they do would always be a plus, so I can demoralize those 2 minions or w/e standing next to that Lieut or boss longer. If you are trying to take on x4 or more mobs solo with a Stalker then it WILL feel slow as Stalkers are not meant for that and were never meant for that and are never going to be meant for that. Adjust your difficulty settings lower because if you are on a Stalker you are not a Tank/Brute/Scrapper which can take on bigger mobs like that and do it wonderfully, you are a Stalker, you are meant to slip in unnoticed and kill that high profile target and slip back out unnoticed... And linking a Nightcrawler vid is pretty weak to help your argument as he is clearly a MA/SR Scrapper with a weird OPed in-battle TP power that makes a puff of dark smoke when he uses it...
Edit: ok that just looks like I am ranting, which I may be, but it is totally not how I meant to come across... I cannot make intelligent arguments when I fell like hell... -
::sees thread too late for the holiday, kicks self and says a few curse words for not finding thread earlier::

I love this idea, but making it a vet reward at this point only benefits those that have been here since the beginning, and I don't know if CoH will be around long enough for someone who doesn't have that many vet badges to get that many... so, /unsigned simply for that reason. I would, however, be more than willing to get a power like this in a 9.99 booster with some more costume choices, I would definitely pay for it for the power alone... I suppose doing that would make people who hate to pay for things they see as unnecessary, but then again, if they hate to pay for unnecessary things, why are they paying to play an online game? You cannot make everyone happy all the time, and NCSoft shouldn't try to, they should however, try to make a majority of the people happy, and being able to unlock a power like this, or even buy access to it would make the majority of the playerbase happy as everyone can benefit from a power like this and not just the small population of 81 month vets.
On a side note, IF a power like this is implemented, no cooldown on it seems like the best option as 1). Many players tend to change their costumes a lot, and then go back and tweak it as needed B). It is not a power that could really abuse much, as it doesn't change how you fight enemies, just how you look doing it. -
Change does not happen overnight, they have to create the new graphical elements, then test them to see if they work in the game, and by the time all the creating and testing happens months have passed and THEN we get the changes applied to the game, and even then unforseen bugs and glitches can and usually do crop up. And like you said, the engine is old, and you really can't update any game engine requires a whole complete overhaul and that requires time, money, and manpower, and NCSoft and Paragon Studios only has the money, it still needs the time and manpower parts, and, if we were to get a complete overhaul, it would require the whole game to be brought offline for an extended period in order to update hardware as needed as well in which time you and other people would be complaining about not being able to play. Believe me, waiting for CoH 2 to implement updated everything like that would be far more cost effective and take up less time for NCSoft/Paragon Studios than overhauling CoH. They even updated the graphics as best they could with what they have to work with. I guess some people will just never be happy...

Yeah, sorry, I do that sometimes, I had a lot I wanted to say and I didn't want to make more than one post, as double posting is just bad on any forum.

I had this conversation with a newbie after he got killed by the Winter Lord coming out of a mission in Nova. Newbie: Jeeze you fools! Ever think that placing a mob spawn as you come out of a quest is a bad idea?! (not exactly what he said but something to that effect) to which I replied: wow, its just a game, don't take things so seriously... to which he replied: But I accrue debt when I get killed without being able to defend myself. (again, something to that effect) to which I replied: Debt is just another badge in this game, death is also not permanent... (or something like that) we continued the conversation like this back and forth: him QQing about dying coming out of a mission, and me, being the big jerk and telling him he is QQing over it till he logged.... Which brings me to my point, actually, his point, a valid one thinking back on it, the WL and other event GMs sometimes spawn in areas where newbies like him are entering/exiting missions. If you aren't accustomed to this game much as a new player, that can be a deterent to them subscribing to this game, they don't know it is a limited time event, and they also don't know that XP debt does not mean much in this game except more badges as earning XP in this game is ridiculously easy, especially at low levels. can we please do something about the event GM spawn areas for these new players, so they aren't turned off by the game?
The WL was right outside the Ministry of Inteligence/Defense (depending on which mission you are on I believe) doors, and new players trying to go in or coming out, as well as trying to get to Inspector Washington would be killed over and over trying to get to those places, that can be a big detterant to new players as I said before, enough to make them want to not subscribe. Also, going around wasn't an option, as the doors and Washington was in the WL LoS, and trying to get a team to kill the WL was failing, as it was after the holidays and most people had all the rewards from that they wanted... so in these cases I would argue that moving the event GM spawn locations to slightly less trafficed areas would be a boon, as new players would not get turned off by being killed while unable to defend themselves, and it wouldn't be hazardous to anyone's health getting to missions and contacts they need. -
Well it seems your problem is not really a problem, it is just gonna take a ridiculously long time to update for you for some reason or another, don't know if there is anything anyone can do about that though, just run the updater overnight like the previous poster said. And welcome to our little community, This may be one of the most friendly MMO communities ever... That I have seen anyway, as for servers to play on, I would say any of em are fine, but you need to know a few things about 2 of them that tend to be the most populated ones and why they are so populated. Freedom and Virtue tend to have a higher population cause Freedom is where all the farmers/power levelers/bridgers go to do their thing, not that everyone on Freedom is there for that alone but it seems like it. Virtue is the unofficial CoH roleplaying server, so it is full of RPers who don't like to break character. If farming is your thing then go to Freedom, if roleplay is your bag then go to Virtue, but if neither appeal to you then I think any one of the other servers would be a good choice. I tend to hang out on Protector most often, but have been known to pop in on other servers from time to time.
My global is in my siggy hit me up in game if you want any more info or whatnot... -
So do we just post our submissions here? if so here is mine...
him using his powers...
his battlecry, which i think is typical Conan, I had better ideas, but none that fit into the limited space the battlcry has to fit into...
There is my Conan Hero, cause he obviously is a Hero, and uses Comedy to disarm his foes... too bad comedy is not a powerset, so I went with Sonic Resonance/Sonic Blast... -
The test server is not the right server anymore, when they started testing GR, they moved to the beta server, a new server for testing, and you will now need that client.

See, I can get behind the fact that trollers and doms need to be able to emote with their pets, why should us MMs get all the fun? I could also get behind giving the troll/dom pets a rudimentary /Stay command, so you dont have them chasing after enemies and aggroing a whole room of enemies or w/e you just arent ready for... but I cannot get behind giving trolls/doms any more control over their pets other than that, that would be too much, just too much. I admit, I have never gotten a troll/dom up to the pet power level, but that is more because of my personal preference than anything...

And again, they would be overrun trying to censor the inapropriate titles, just as much or even more than they are having to take time out of their busy schedules to censor the innapropriate names now. As much as I would love to see our own titles in the game, I see the potential for idiots to cost the GMs precious time just censoring the bad ones. I would however be all for just dropping the origin and alignment restrictions on the titles we have now.
