Art: Please more quality and efforts to make the game looking current and actual in 2011 MMO market
have you given thought to those of us who have older slower PC's ?? thats something to think about.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

But when we will have the first art update? All I see is even in new missions they keep using old citizens, and awful costumes so I think theres nothing cool coming until they release a CoX 2 under a completely new and potent engine.
All I can dream is CoX 2 under Aion engine with David Nakayama supervising all art.
Trying to keep my thread alive...
Change does not happen overnight, they have to create the new graphical elements, then test them to see if they work in the game, and by the time all the creating and testing happens months have passed and THEN we get the changes applied to the game, and even then unforseen bugs and glitches can and usually do crop up. And like you said, the engine is old, and you really can't update any game engine requires a whole complete overhaul and that requires time, money, and manpower, and NCSoft and Paragon Studios only has the money, it still needs the time and manpower parts, and, if we were to get a complete overhaul, it would require the whole game to be brought offline for an extended period in order to update hardware as needed as well in which time you and other people would be complaining about not being able to play. Believe me, waiting for CoH 2 to implement updated everything like that would be far more cost effective and take up less time for NCSoft/Paragon Studios than overhauling CoH. They even updated the graphics as best they could with what they have to work with. I guess some people will just never be happy...
MARTy is proof positive the DEVs hate us...

I'd love to see more sweeping changes/upgrades to legacy content but realistically it's just not going to happen. Ultimately it's not worth the development time. People were already zooming to the finish line of level 50 before the Incarnate System went up, now people will be spending less time than ever at lower levels. Why commit resources to content that few players will actually experience?
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
First of all, not a DOOM post, I love the game.
But seriously I have some rage when I see too much recycling, random designs and lazy results.
I understand free updates are not paid expansions like GR.
I understand the devs cant be revamping ALL the old content.
But seriously, the other superhero games in market are not a rival for CoX, so to stay actual, the game needs to be visual attracting.
Come on its 2011!
Some suggestions:
More work about the designs of the contatcs, NPC, AV and Heroes. Some of them, specially contacts or the villains and heroes from tip missions have awful costumes, not to mention the merit vendors in yellow and purple...
Get the old citizen models out (at least) of Praetoria. The zones are modern, shiny and look great but those crappy citizens 7 years old with 20 poligons are messing with the "shiny and new" feeling that Praetoria zones got.
I know the actual citizen models are now "Protesters" but they can still be citizens. This way we can keep at least GR zones actual.
Complete the Praetorians make-over, Anti-matter, Chimera, Diabolique, Siege and Dominatrix didnt had a new look like others, and Dominatrix is the first trainer a new/returning player would see in Nova Praetoria. Also would be great to have a complete new look like Neuron o Mother Mayhem. Battle Maiden and Black Swan are too way recycled.
Also, use power customization for more unique and matching powers, for example, give Nightstar new colour for her energy blast that fits better for her new costume, Bobcat should have black claws and Neuron light blue elec blast... etc
Update the look of the classic heroes of Paragon. Villain patrons still look awesome and didnt aged yet, but come on, Sister Psyche costume is lame.
And for new tip missions, would be great to avoid include enemies like ghost and old citizen models.
Another example, adding nurses to get inspirations in the hospital was great but...
Why use the old plain crappy model? Why dont create one using at least the current character creator? Science pack jacket, boots, different hairstyles and a little red cross in the chest emblem...
In Paragon tailor all the contacts should have some kind of Icon uniform. Same for villains.
I know most would find this silly, but I want CoX to be more pleasat visually and those little details would improve the look of the game.
CoX QoL art department improvements.
