Avatea,
I have some interesting questions concerning this contest because there are a lot of very innovative billboard ads out there and I am a guy that likes to think about a mile outside of the box if I can. I was just looking at billboards and came up with some crazy ideas since in a super-powerd game not all laws of physics may apply.
Can we use transparent areas on the billboard? Or two-piece billboards?
Can we use billboards put in unsuspecting places instead of the current designated billboard locations? For example, on the ground, wall of a building, on a bus or bus stop, floating in the air (for major target market of heroes with flight powers), etc.
Could we suggest 3 dimensional items already in game to be used alongside with the billboard? What about 3D text for building signage?
How bad am I pushing the envelope here? If any of these are possible please let us know. And if they are not possible I would really like to see some in the future.
Thanks for the great contest and something awesome to rack my brain on for a couple months! -
I think that it is a bit high, but it isn't difficult to open my recipe window and delete them when I get full. I don't have a problem with it, I guess too many is better than not enough. I would spend less time worrying about this, and more time wishing for an increase in the drop rate of purps and pvp recipes. I can has Armageddon, Apocalypse, Ragnarok, and Gladiator sets?

I would absolutely LOVE some new skeletons. If they created one all fours skeleton and did all of the proper animations and used that one skeleton for cats, dogs, foxes, horses, elephants etc. there is still the problem with the powers that require you to use weapons, devices, arms or legs. I wish it would happen, I really do, but it won't. You all can argue until you kill each other. It still wouldn't change the fact that this game is not made for animals.
The best idea I can offer with minimal problems is a compromise of making animal pets for a MM aka beast master. Such pets would not have to deal with being compatible with the power sets, so scratch the blah blah blah about power set animations. They would still have to do a LOT of work, but like I said if they made one 4 legged pet skeleton, they could use it for several types of animals. I would like to see the following pets for a beast MM:
Wolves (3 pack): Winter wolf with cold damage, regular wolf with lethal damage, and a dire wolf with toxic damage.
Bird: Could be a falcon or an eagle, a dangerous bird of prey. (could possibly use the kheldian nova skeleton just change the 3d model) Lethal damage.
Cats (2 pack): maybe a lion and lioness, or a lion which would use lethal damage and a black panther which could use dark energy damage type.
Large animal: possibly a bull or rhino with smashing/lethal and lots of knockback.
The beast master himself could have:
hold power that uses a large boa constrictor, wouldn't need a skeleton it could just be cosmetic.
2 damage powers: give him a sword or a bow and arrow to recycle a couple of those powers and animations.
Empowerment buff: gives the pets a few extra powers or abilities.
So now you have 4 different animal models to make. They would require significantly less animations: 4-8 powers each including Clawing/biting melee attacks, lunge/pounce attacks, charging and raring for the large animal. Spawn, despawn, Run, jump, flight/perch for the bird, reaction animation for buffs (a growl of some sort) and a few special emote animations since they would not be able to use any of the current emotes and a few for being idle. So each would need about at most 20-25 animations for a total of 100 new animations for the entire powerset.
As much as I really like this idea, it will probably be shot down as well because it is just too much work to make new stuff. But it is a much more likely alternative to getting animals into the game. Even if it were implemented, I wouldn't expect them to start on it for at least 2-3 years from now because there are too many things they want to do with the game that require less work and apply to a broader spectrum of players.
But it would be pretty sweet right? -
Kinetic Melee looks effin sweet! My only fear is that we will have even MORE DBZ copies running around. I hope they deal better damage than DP blasters!

LOL @ PANTSLESS defeat. I was actually talking about the image that I made. But thanks for the lols.

I have deleted most of my NES Allstars toons because the SG name got gen'd a long time ago. I still kept Prince of the Sands and Hero of Tantegel. I am going to delete Little Mack soon because i have too many scrappers.
p.s. what do you think of my nifty new sig? -
I also highly agree with a lot of the items that we should have, like beds without straps, water, and many objects that exist in game. I can only hope that with Going Rogue will come some changes and/or additions to our bases.
Windows would be great! Even if they don't really see out to anything big. Just a wall item, with an image on the other side. For arcane some stained glass would be cool!
Some things that I would like to see in my arcane base:
More plants, espescially strange or mystical plants like the tree of wonders. And please make these placeable in decorative rooms. I have a castle and a courtyard in my Great Room and I would really like something more than a couple potted trees in the courtyard garden.
Our doorways are VERY PLAIN, boring, and make base decorators angry at the poor aesthetics! A couple small things could really make them decent. The first, and simplest solution for doorways that we have somehow been missing for years...DOORS! OMG what an innovation!make them clickable or just free swinging. Second, more options for the frame of the door, an arch at the top would really help. If you put these two things together then that is twice as good! Isn't that amazing? lol.
One idea that is functional as well as pleasing to the eye is concerning salvage racks. The problem started with people always putting salvage into the wrong bins, thus, mixing up the common, uncommon, and rare salvage. So I thought it would be nice to have 3 different salvage racks for each tech, and arcane. This would help to keep them organized a bit. On top of that, I noticed that the arcane rack has a lot of non-arcane objects sitting on it. Like a riot shield, a little old crappy tv, and a speaker. These are salvage racks, not junk storage. Why not make a cool looking shelving unit, with actual arcane salvage pieces sitting on it. The common rack could have some Alchemical Gold and Silver, Ancient Artifact, fortune scrolls, rubies, luck charm, etc. You get the idea.
And please, more arcane furniture, how about a cool stone desk, with more than just a book on it. Think scrolls, and a quill, and a little jar of ink. Some arcane medical stuff would be cool too, they didnt have xrays but they had drawings of organs and anatomy. What about some wall racks with mystical potions on them, or vials of odd liquids like demon blood and bone dust. I could go on for pages and pages. I hope that gives you guys some more ideas. -
Base raids with old pvp rules will probably never happen man, there are reasons they changed pvp and I doubt they are going to take a step backward.
All of those other ideas are great. I would love rugs, doors, being able to decorate doorways (even if it is just flat items on the wall ceiling or floor) because a base has to follow fire safety codes they cannot have too much stuff cluttering up the doorways lol. -
I would really like some different kinds of floor tiles that don't have SG symbols on them, and it would be great if you could put them in the doorways too!

Thanks CapnGeist and Snow Globe, I did not find those threads in my search. I noticed that the there has not been any posts in the base construction thread since last year. Hopefully this thread will draw new and fresh ideas to other threads. I want to combine these threads all into one so feel free to post any others you find, thanks.
Great ideas guys, I have heard a lot of these requests from fellow players in game, hopefully if there is enough demand they will be implemented in a future issue. I love the interactive ideas like AE contact, Wentworths Rep, SG Registrar (could be a in-base secretary), level trainers and a respec contact, store contacts that sell enhancements or inspirations, etc.
The influence and prestige ratio does need tweaked, but it is a tricky line since it is so easy to make some big bucks from certain drops.
I heard some talk of being able to send influence and possibly recipes, enhancements or salvage through in game email in a future update. I cannot confirm this, it is just what I have heard. When I find official info I will post it here. This should lower some of the need for global storage that is connected to transferring money or recipes to other characters on your account. As for recipes, perhaps they should be integrated into the enhancement storage bins in the base. -
Very good ideas! Find other base improvements here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=211484

To start it off, my first suggestion is in base NPC's. With the use of NPC's in the Mission Architect, I thought it would be very nice to have access to the same list of characters to put in our base. That way there is someone to greet you at the door if you like, or perhaps someone to tell you directions. Or maybe just fun little things like a guy standing behind your bar or people dancing in your social area.
A few specific things I would like to accompany this are:
A standard emote (idle) for each NPC, a proximity trigger for text and/or emote so they can say or do something when you walk near, and a click trigger for text and/or emote so they say or do something when clicked. I would also like to choose where to put the NPC of course but it would also be nice to have the option to make them wander like a patrol.
Standard NPC's as well as all enemy and hero groups would be preferred just like we have in the AE. If we could also get an option for custom NPC's that would be awesome! I know that the base is not coded and structured like the AE but if there is a way you guys could do this it would be very cool and fun! -
Dear Players and Development,
I wanted to post this thread to try to organize base suggestions. Post your ideas and requests that have to do with supergroup and villain group bases. If one of the devs could occasionally post some feedback then that would be fantastic! If not then I just hope they read it a bit in order to update and improve our bases for our groups.
Thanks for reading and please keep comments constructive and polite. -
Thanks a lot guys, that was exactly what I needed. feel free to stop posting here and go to the other suggestion. It is longer and I dont want to take posts away from it.

I have never been a guy for math and numbers, or stats. But I am trying to get to the defense softcap to solo anything from even level mobs to as high as I can get AVs. Currently my Melee defense is way low, as wel as my AOE defense, and my ranged defense is shy 15% which is funny because I am not a ranged kinda dude.
If you guys could please help me figure out a better build I would appreciate it very much!

<quote>having a pvp zone that we compete for locations and such actively to get access to a special zone or something would be amazing!!!<quote/>
Yeah that sounds like a cool idea. I like innovative gameplay more than I like graphics. I still play old NES games that were thought provoking because they didnt have the graphics back then they needed something else to make them interesting. Zelda, Dragon Warrior, Shadowgate, these all had something of a mysterious element that made you want to play the game. I think COX needs more of that. -
I am sure LOADS of people are going crazy with anxiety. I am wondering if there is a target date for the pre-order? sometime this winter...spring...this year? Any kind of estimate from an official would be nice.
I'll need to plan my extremely tight budget accordingly, thanks.
-
I really like this idea man!
A couple suggestions:
Instead of a fixed replacement, let the player choose if he wants to replace the primary or secondary. Or just append the Kheldian powers into the list of original powers and one could pick and choose what they wanted. Of course this would bring some complications to light. So perhaps to counteract them, for every kheldian power you pick, one of your equal level human powers becomes unavailable, and vice versa.
Also, instead of unlocking this at 50, perhaps some kind of Kheldian badge could unlock it. Like from the kheldian story arc or something like that. -
Yeah, I am also worried about my card, I have 2 gigs of mem also, but thinking about upgrading. Waiting for the specs as advised. Right now I am running a GeForce 6800. It works well on performance mode, but max settings are a bit choppy. Was thinking about getting a 9800, but then I will just be upgrading to decent, when I should be overshooting so I have a few years of quality graphics.
Decent cards are expensive when one is unemployed. -
I lose interest as soon as I read the words "I am sure that there are other threads relating to this but ..." That is more of a closing line, like an apology for making someone read stuff that they have already read before.
But hey in your case it saves me time, I appreciate that. -
I went ahead and bought it because I read all about it, and it sounds very cool. I was really hoping to see what the new hairstyles were before buying it. But oh well, I decided to just go ahead and get it.
-
Souns pretty cool, does anyone hava good close-up screenshot of the new hairstyles?
-
OK, I decided to just buy it, contest cancelled, sorry.
-
Yeah Soul, that looks better lit up! And glad you guys like my pumpkin, next year I am going to do a haunted house in the same carving style, it will blow that one away...I go a little crazy on Halloween lol. It is like my Christmas
-
Yeah, the titan link worked, thanks guys....feels like an enourmous D****bag right now lol. I had been using the old address I guess, it even popped up on yahoo search with the old address, so I figured something was awry on their end. Okay crawling back into my hole, ty.
