That is a silly question. :P You want us to tell you what to hate?
Hehe, I know what you mean though. I have complained about certain particular things. Decisions or procedures that I think are just silly. "What were they thinking?!" They are just a matter of opinion and do not necessarily mean that someone should hate the game. Sometimes people just want to whine, sometimes it is constructive criticism to help improve future content. -
You're being greedy by asking. Hope you're joking. I guess some people here ARE pretty gullible.

One thing that will help a lot in my opinion...make the actual nightclub look better. The whole decked out warehouse look is pretty common in real clubs, but in a game where you have the resources to create anything you want in a floating dimension...I think it could look much cooler. I wasn't all that impressed with the Studio in Praetoria either. Just check out a few of these examples, which have financial limitations, structural limitations, and other issues that may restrict their creativity, safety codes, laws, electricity/power. You could make Pocket D look so much cooler than one of these.
Put one of those big tesla coils on the ceiling, or a giant plasma ball that will occasionally attract to your character.
Also a balcony that circles around the dance floor and has an interesting look/shape.
Examples of cool clubs:

Things to put in Pocket D:
A touch responsive dance floor would be awesome. A subtle electric effect constantly running through it, but once you step on it, the beams attract to your characters location.

A plasma ball or tesla coil hanging from the ceiling, out in the open, with the beams occasionally pulsing out to characters.

Anything that is interactive will definitely be more interesting. Not to mention, more variety in music, a dj booth would be cool if you could walk up to it and select the music that you want to hear. Even if it only changes for you and not everyone else. Or just have it on a default shuffle.
These are just a couple ideas off the top of my head. And I am sure that the developement team has bigger things on their plate right now. But I want to throw those out there for future reference. Lighting effects, professional magic shows, concerts, theater, there are loads of places to get good inspiration for clubs. -
I wouldn't exactly call this base love. It isn't even a one night stand. Maybe a base kiss on the cheek. :P

Is it, Avatea? Is it? :P hehe

It isn't that great of a name for starters. And people paying inf for names is probably one of the top 5 most ridiculous things I have seen on the forums. I would gladly give people inf if they would just stop being greedy. I will take the high road and just point and laugh at your ridiculous offer.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! -
Quote:I completely agree on both accounts. I would also like to add female huge body types. I know it isn't the ideal concept of a woman in the majority of society's opinion these days. But I can't argue against the small demand for it.Hey, look, suddenly we have resources to make new costume packs! Why are we continuing the trend of locking pieces to genders indiscriminately? How about we take some of those lovely resources and fix all the wonderfully, sorry to say, stupid omissions over the years?
(Psst, mods, this means please sticky)
Costume Issues
Might as well start with the big one.
Things Females should have but don't:
Tattoo options like guys
Renegade hat
Mars chest symbol
Baron coat (Magic pack)
Steampunk jacket (Steampunk pack)
Gunslinger jacket (Gunslinger pack)
Chaps (Gunslinger pack)
Male Resistance style hair
Male Barbarian belt
Male Barbarian shoulder rings
Male Barbarian shorts
Syndicate pants pattern
Male Resistance/Aviator hat
Thing Males should have but don't:
Bracers (Martial Arts pack?)
Shoulder pets
Venus chest symbol
Witch hat(Magic pack)
Female Resistance hair styles
Headband and tiaras under detail 1
Female Barbarian belt
Female Barbarian shoulder rings
Female Barbarian skirt (aka loincloth)
Bolero fur (Magic pack)
Female High and Low Ponytails
Buttcapes for widows
Acension boots with above knee plats
Animations
Females should have the same sit animation options as males
Gameplay
Female Mastermind minions
Please add the things you've noticed and I'll add them to this post and hopefully someone dev wise will pay attention and these things might get fixed
I would also like to see men's face textures, and hairstyles be evened up with the amount of options that the females have. This would require the following:
8 more face options for males
10 more young face options
9 more hairstyles (some of which are longer)
and 16 more Boot options
I want to second the request for females to receive:
Baron Jacket
Steampunk Jacket
Gunslinger Jacket
Gunslinger Chaps
Gunslinger Boots
I would like both genders to get new tattoo options. The current ones are very sub-par. There are several good tattoo magazines out there for reference. I would like a set for RANDOM tattoos on the chest and/or back, upper arms, gloves and/or knuckles, face (see Kat Von D's stars), legs and calves and/or ankles. A themed feminine tattoo set (a cherry blossom tree with petals blowing off, or something delicate or elegant). And a themed masculine set of modern tribals or skulls or creatively arranged flames. (I know they are overdone and cliche but what tattoo pack would be complete without it?) And just because something is masculine or feminine does NOT mean it should only be available for one sex. All patterns should be available for all body types. If a male huge character wants flower tattoos, that should be his choice. I can easily see a hardcore chick with flame or skull tattoos. I have said it before and I will say it again. If something COULD be worn by either sex, it SHOULD be available. -
There are always exceptions to the rule. Like with my fire tank, who is primarily for fire AE missions. But I will agree, for most tanks, it is useful.

Quote:I felt the same way when all of a sudden I started hearing the term adds to describe ambushes, mobs, or "additional" enemies. I have heard people use the word toon in this game for so many years that I didn't really think about it. I would assume that it comes from the word cartoon, obviously.Because nobody has asked within recent memory, and searching "toon" will get me nowhere.
There are alot of things about this game and it's players that drive me loopy. Catgirls, Fire/Kin roflfarmers, "Dark Lord Dark of Darkness" characters on blueside, to name a few. But there is one thing that has been slowly plucking at my nerves non-stop since I started my career of defeating enemies by bludgeoning them with my own health pool: People using the word "Toon". Maybe it's the childish, degrading nature of the term instantly calling to mind Bugs Bunny slapstick*, serving to remind me that I am in fact a 26 year old manchild playing a MMO instead of getting drunk and grunting at football games like a real man.
I really can't explain why I hate the term, but I do know that I have never heard it used in any other game I've ever played. So far as I know, it's exclusive to CoX, which is pretty odd considering how universal MMO lingo usually is. And most of those terms can trace their roots back to either programming lingo or D&D lingo, "Toon" just seems so random and out-of-place to me. Where did it come from?
--EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION--
I know the origin of the word toon. Roger Rabbit sits comfortably in my upper bracket of movie rankings. What I meant, and what people seem to have missed, is how it became a relevant term to this game, or alternatively to whatever other game it may have spawned from, and how it migrated to us. Like I said, you won't find people in may other MMOs using the word toon to describe their characters. And most terms have easy-to follow roots. "Proc" was just short for "procedure", describing a line of code which triggers and executes when certain parameters are met, and that term can easily be traced from WoW to everything else. "XP" is likewise easily traced to D&D, the grandfather of all modern RPGs, shorthand for "Experience". See what I'm getting at? Nowhere in CoX is there a word even similar to "Toon". It's not short for anything. It can't be traced to programming code, it can't be traced to D&D or WoW, it has no connection to anything related to CoX so how did it become so widespread?
*Disclaimer: Bugs Bunny is a total BAMF and I mean no disrespect to the Almighty Rabbit.
car·toon [ kaar tn ]
animated movie: a movie made using animation instead of live actors, especially a humorous film intended primarily for children
sequence of drawings: a sequence of drawings that tell a short story, published in a newspaper or magazine
satirical drawing: a humorous drawing published in a newspaper or magazine and commenting on a topical event or theme
Which is somewhat parallel to comics. A lot of comics and comic strips had cartoons and vice versa. But now it is just a common term so I don't really concern myself with it. I prefer to use proper terms when I can, such as the previously mentioned "character". But sometimes I catch myself using shorthand and abbreviations. Because I read it a lot, and it is just common. Or I am trying to type fast during a battle. Or just to accommodate the understanding of the person I am talking to. -
I would like some sort of sorcery blast/manipulation using a wand or staff, could be a tech staff or various styles of weapon customization. I made a post about it once but people didnt like it. Maybe someday...

Quote:Male have a few bare chest options, that female cant have, understandably. :P But there are lots of things that females have, that I don't understand why males do not.Do you have any examples of something that should be a male-exclusive item?
3 Carnival of Light Masks
4 Carnival of Light Head wear
Carnival of Light Belt
Small Padded Gloves
Sleeves Gloves
Dragon Bracer
Cloud Bracer
Classic Steampunk 02 Belt
Tight Pants with Boots
Also:
Females have 8 more face options that males
10 more young face options
9 more hairstyles
and 16 more Boot options
shoulder/neck options that have no male equivalent
a lot more skirts and shorts options compared to males kilts.
Not to mention LOADS of tops with skin options that males cant wear, again understandably. I am not going to argue the ethics of cross dressing in a T rated game lol. But there should be some more options for males to balance that out. Like bare chest with hair (not the hairy beast chest, just a normal guys chest) and some better bare chest tattoo and or pierced options. Maybe some native american beaded chest pieces or body paint. I could spend hours looking up the many potential options.
Also, there is no female huge body type, so to lay it all out for everyone, we are both getting shorted one way or another.
There is balancing that needs to be done for both genders, agreed? -
The phoenix wings and tail are very cool looking, but the wings don't flap. With the celestial set we have wings that flap and wings that don't. Could we get this for the fire wings? The lack of continuity between costume sets is mind boggling.
The elemental swords are pretty sweet too. I like the one that looks like actual fire. The one that looks like jagged lava doesn't really look like a sword, more like a club, but its okay.
The waterfall backpack is very cool! I would like to see a wider version of this for a cape option!!! And the caldera backpack is cool too. I am glad to see new stuff like this coming out. -
is there any way you can give us an option, or additional power without the lantern? What is the purpose of this? I am not crazy about the lantern, and it bugs me just enough to sway me from "I dont need this power but it looks cool" to "I dont really need this power, and the lantern looks dumb". I know that is pretty tough criticism, and as an artist, I deeply apologize for that. But no one ever improved because someone was being nice to them. Tough love FTW!

I don't care how bad I want a specific name, I would NEVER pay any BLEEP-hole for this kind of manipulation. I pity you, and anyone that falls prey to this. Have a nice day.

Quote:Agreed.Their continued desire to adjust the set based on player feedback should make you happy
I love the German Shepard pet, will definitely buy it to support the four legged rigs as soon as I can. Would be nice to have alternate colors for it, like a white or black Shepard. I see that people are presuming the rigs will come into play for future powersets and possibly other things like shapeshifting. This would be very nice, I agree on the mastermind set. Wolves, lions, and a bear would be nice, but there are a lot of things that could go into something like that, a bird of prey, a rodent, and even larger animals like rhinos or elephants. I foresee some very cool things coming in the future. -
I am SO happy that they finally took my advice and did a wonderful job implementing it.
Thanks for listening, guys! I hop there is more added to the House of Horror next year!

Yeah I have been too! I hope it actually is something a little bit like this: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=269922
Also good to see barbarian pieces, must have been inspired by the new Conan. At least there was one good thing resulting from that movie! lol.
Can't wait to see more about the sig story arcs! -
This would be cool! I just posted a comment to support about this earlier, funny coincidence! I posted a thread about it a while back, some people liked the idea, some people didn't. I think it would be even more fun than the ski chalet! http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=134027

On the Ustream chat today you were talking briefly about Mission Architect. I really enjoy making my own stories, but some of the limitations of MA holds them back from feeling genuine.
I was wondering if there will ever be any updates that give us more control over the arcs?
Specifically, will we ever be able to choose the spawn points of AVs, rescues, or allies? Rather than just a general Front, Middle, or Back option. I would like to be able to pick locations on the map, as well as other options like AV B spawns where AV A is defeated. Like a Snaptooth kind of effect. The more seamless it is the better. This would be great for scenarios when a villain dies and his ghost spawns in the same location, or like the council wolves that shape shift when they are defeated, I would like a possessed villain, when defeated shape shifts into a more powerful demon.
Also, to have a more fluent story line, will we ever be able to go from one mission straight into another without exiting to Architect Entertainment? I feel like it breaks the mood in longer story arcs to have to exit to AE in between missions. I would like to be able to get to the end of a mission, click on a door in that mission to take me to the next mission.
Could either of these things possibly be implemented in the future? How likely is this to actually happen? Any information that you could give us would be very appreciated. Thanks. -
Quote:Yeah I agree, it would be a lot more balanced.I think turning in costume salvage has a chance of either spawning a zombie invasion or a banner event. Otherwise, that's about it.
But considering this is meant to be a an alternate source of Astral merits and Threads, it feels very, very wrong to have it triggered by the iTrials or TFs. Going with the Trials, either it would spawn way too many Incursions, which would burn people out on the event much, much faster or it would spawn far too few in the non-prime time hours of a given server. Going with a timer keeps it fair to everyone and anyone regardless of what time they play at. -
Quote:This is a cool idea. A neat way to implement the shapeshifting, would be to click on a target, activate the power, and you copy their costume. It could work in a similar way as the halloween costume powers, but some changes would be nice. Some CC Emotes to work with it would be good.I'd also like shape shifting and power cloning abilities either as a unique AT or a selection for the various current AT's.
Something much more difficult, but equally more interesting to me, would be if you click on an enemy character and copy their costume, you would also con as friendly to that enemy group. Maybe using an altered version of the yellow con system in GR. It would be like a new way of stealthing.
I am sure people will cut this down with reasons why it wouldn't work. Save your typing, I probably won't read this again and care less about how difficult, impractical, too advanced for the game engine, or any other reasons why. -
There was a great old post about base upgrades that talked about NPC's in bases, market contacts and lots of other cool ideas. I really enjoyed building my base, I would like to see new things added to it.

Quote:I enjoy the incarnate plots, the well of furies, and how much we have yet to see is all very interesting to me. I think they are doing a good job. With how the writing's been going so far concerning the whole Incarnate plot, I wouldn't necessarily bet on that. And then it wouldn't feel shallow so much as contrived. Either way, I wasn't referring to the story justification, but the gameplay.
Quote:And from what it sounds like, this trial brings nothing unique other than its randomness. That's not a compelling hook.
Quote:I still get raid teams that don't understand "check temp power list; use acids on portals". My point is that depending on how it's designed, you're either making it too dull for me or too hard for them.
Quote:Case in point. Tower defense CoH was one of the more interesting things they've done, and it might very well be my favorite part of the BAF, horrible server-choking lag aside.
Quote:I like the idea of using different methods of acquisition for each one, but how are these distributed across the league? Does everyone get to summon Statesman or just whoever frees him?
And how large would these sub-maps be? While they wouldn't be drawn all at once thanks to being placed underground like other sub-maps presumably, I worry if having five such maps of appreciable size, hidden or not, possibly causing a performance issue. Though speaking of, having to place five sub-maps inside of every possible main raid map would be a bit of work.
Which five groups? Why are the Praetorians working with non-Praetorian groups?
This part is fine, I guess. But would these be the basic AV versions or the souped-up TF/raid versions?
Why would these guys be getting involved in the first place? It'd be one thing if for some reason the raid is taking place in Dark Astoria and you bump into Adamastor, but it's random...
Also, of that list of 16, problems arise:
- For obvious reasons, Sally should not be part of that group.
- Unless you're fighting in the water or near the water, Lusca should not be part of that spawn group.
- Similarly, if you're nowhere near Sharkhead, Ghost of Scrapyard.
- Kraken is pretty remarkably underpowered for an GM, to the point where he's soloable, if I'm not mistaken.
- I'd have similar concerns for Paladin and Babbage.
That's my other lingering problem, anyway: "And then an AV attacks!" is honestly quite the non-threat to a team of eight, let alone a full league, and even moreso thanks to all of the Incarnate goodies. The whole reason for complex mission goals are to actually challenge Incarnates and justify giving them so many crazy, unique powers.
This is just an idea man, I am not dead set on any of the specifics. I was just giving examples so people could understand. If there are better ways to randomize things inside the trial I would be open to that. I just think a trial would be more interesting, and a little more fun to repeat if they weren't the same everytime. Yes eventually it would get boring, like everything else, if you do it enough times it will get boring. But if it isn't the same everytime, it would take longer to get boring.
Thanks for the feedback though. -
Quote:Random like newspaper missions? LOL JK man, I like the idea. There are a lot of zone events that occur from player actions though. The zombie invasion I think, for turning in halloween salvage for a costume slot in Croatoa. And the Rikti Invasion for completing the LGTF. Am I forgetting any big ones?My intention was to have them be random like any other zone event, with a maximum of about an hour between one for each side.
Overall I think it sounds fun. Good idea.
I would also like to see a new zone where the Praetorian enemy groups like IDF, Warwalkers and Seers are battling it out with Longbow, Arachnos and some other group.
