I'm hoping that it would occur with any level of TF/SF.

What get me is that there is a children's playground in Praetoria (Four Gables I think,) often I've seen two guys there with a soccer ball (creepy.) But there is no one there, it seems really post-apocalyptic. Reminds me of images of Chernobyl after the power plant meltdown.

Quote:I don't think the names of NPC's are off limits, but if it were a copyright/trademark violation, then whoever got it on Guardian had it before it was placed on the "Unavailable" list. They just haven't shown up on that character enough for someone to notice and report it.Unavailable isn't just the naughty names - they can also be names such as "Citadel" - in use by an NPC
The GM's don't hunt and destroy, they will look into player /petitions, but they don't hang around in-game just to happen across a character that violates the rules. -
Yeah, my HP blew up twice. The first time is was under warranty, the second time... well it makes an awfully good doorstop.
I'll have to wit until I get home to get all the applicable information. -

Quote:I'd have to say that I don't think about either of those when playing my character. What's important to me is that they are fun to play and that my friends and I are having a good time.Yeah, I'm with everyone else. It depends.
On a tank, I build to be able to survive apocalyptic forces and enough damage to not have a problem holding aggro.
Everything else just needs to survive "long enough." Survivability is good, but by making something push out bigger orange numbers, "long enough" becomes a shorter amount of time.
EDIT: Oh, and then there's my MFing Warshade, who got both survivability and ridiculous orange numbers. Capped damage, capped resist (at 85%, mind you), unholy amounts of recharge and three damage dealing pets. -

Well, I was going to post an image of Pamela Anderson condoning cannibalism, but it might garner a visit from a redname.

Just as in every conversation where this comes up... as long as it's a choice. My Phantom Army and my Phantom are not clones of my character.

Quote:That's my experience as well. Name me any other game where the Devs have given the players the ability to actually pause their leveling progression. There's a slow way now?
I am stopping xp every other mission in Praetoria in order not to outlevel the next contact. I have found that if you solo, and NOT kill everything in the missions you can just get from one contact to the next without outleveling anything. As soon as you hop on a team or do a mission that is not yours you are blazing past everything. -
I actually prefer the earbuds myself. I have the Plantronics Audio 480. The only issue I have with it is that's it's meant for a laptop or work phone so the cord is a little short.
Despite any amount of cushioning headsets say they have, within in hour my ears are hurting from the pressure. -
Quote:Debt is just another badge.I have spent an entire Day trying to complete the following mission -- "Retrieve the Stolen Incarnate Container". I can get the weakened incarnate down to 3/4 of his hit points. Then I get hit and pumlled to death. I can understand makinng something difficult, but impossible is nuts. Don't rant to me about geting help because I could not get any one to assist me. I had a Shiva and PPD pets helping me and still died. I used medium insperations as well. I destroyed the Ritki portals and he still got reinforcements. I pulled him so he was alone and failed again. I amassed almost 300,000 in debt and climbing.
So how do I kill this mob
Did you use 1 insp or several? When it comes to even the Weakened Honoree, depending on you AT/Powersets it could take multiples 2 or 3 Teir 2's Purp and Red. It took me 3 or 4 tries on my Illusionist.
Also, do you have access to a base? Try crafting Empowerment buffs at an Empowerment Station.
What server are you on, Pofoknedalot? I'm sure a shout in here, or down in your server section will bring out people willing to help.
Oh, and welcome to the forums. -

Seems that Comrade is currently unable to access the forums, just saw him in-game and he was highly annoyed.

I just saw James in-game and he is currently having an issue logging into the forums. It wont let him. -.-
He can access the game fine, but not the forums. He asked that I check that this thread was still up and I figured I'd let you folks know what was up as well. -
No problem and welcome to CoX.
Might I suggest you poke your head up into the Mentor Project thread and introduce yourself. You can also type /chan_join "N P C" in your chat ingame if you have any questions while playing.
Also, you will want to bookmark Paragon Wiki, as it is a wealth of information about the game.
My tips on playing, roll up a concept of what matches the playstyle of what you want to play, take your time and read the descriptions of the AT's (Archtypes) and their respective Powersets. And don't look at the clock when creating your character, you can easily spent two hours in there.
Something you will hear often in these forums... "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey." There is no rush to get the max-level (50) as there is plenty to do on the way.
Enjoy. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure that most of us have been saying the if (general) you find it tedious, don't play. Not that it's tedious for everyone that plays their character is a support role. The fact that people in the thread are flat out equating support with tedium speaks volumes. If has been outright said, if you don't like tedium, don't play X, Y and Z support selections.
No one sees anything wrong with that?
Quote:How is tedium interesting gameplay? If the devs cannot come up with some sort of solution that doesn't involve mindlessly pressing the same 2 buttons every 4 minutes for 7+ targets, that is just flat out lazy and defending it seems like some pretty rabid fanboiism to me.
Quote:Many of the other sets are considered to be extremely powerful (Rad, Dark, Kin anyone?) and they don't have the tedium of shields to get that performance (kin has SB, but this is specifically about shields in relation to performance).
Quote:Telling someone who is trying to get a discussion to improve gameplay "if you don't like it, don't play" is pretty offensive to be honest. It's just closed minded pointless resistance to change in the name of tradition.
I've seen a number of people shout down the idea, and I've seen a number of people who know the devs innermost thoughts on the matter. What I haven't seen is any information that indicates a change making shields function like mastermind upgrades would damage gameplay in any way shape or form.
So if it won't damage gameplay, and it will in fact improve gameplay for a number of people, the hostility and resistance to the idea is pretty baffling.
Quote:Extra lulz in the thread have been provided by the gamer e-thugs "If you don't like tedium you're bad and shouldn't play!" /thuggin
EDIT: On rereading my response it seems a bit hostile. I'm not mad, just a bit surprised at the pointless mindless "NO" being shouted out here. I think it might be a matter of this having been discussed to death in the eyes of some forum regulars, in which case maybe they should just avoid threads they don't really want to be in? Just seems like a lot of "NO! Just because!" being tossed out.
There are people out there with systems who's performance are affected by certain buffs (see Bill's comments.)
For me personally, Forcefields and some of the really horrendous colours people choose to apply to them (myself included) gives me a headache.
Anyone who thinks that they could increase the duration without affecting the Endurance cost or the power's effectiveness is deluding themselves. -
Congratulations again on the new job, DR!

They always come back.
Kambien, what kind of group are you looking for?
My own SG basically has everything you could need, except for active members.
I spend most of my time RP'ing with coallies, or server-hopping much later in the evening.
I know there are more active SG's out there that are always doing TF's/Ship Raids/ etc, I'm sure a couple of them will pop their head in. -
Quote:Dev thoughts: Their strength/utility is balanced in part by their duration.
Player thoughts: Don't like it, don't play a buff set. It's really *not* that tedious. Prioritize a bit, as well.
Hell no.
(1) Do it that way and I have to stop the team to apply them.
(2) Do it that way and people who DON'T want a buff get them anyway.
(3) Do it that way and people I *Do* want to buff, who may be out of range that moment, miss the buff and have to wait - yet I've still burned that end.
Masterminds got that buff because they essentially *could not play* until they finished setting up. Pre-AOE-buff, it'd be like throwing a timer on a blaster so they'd have their first Tier1 blast right away, the next few powers opening up a minute into the mission, and the final (and their secondary) opening up two minutes in. It was a massive problem... for that AT, and for anyone teaming with them.Quote:Here's an idea : why don't people who dislike buffing just play other powersets, rather than try to nerf buffing powersets for everyone?Quote:/this.
shift-1, 8, 9, shift-2, 8, 9, shift-4 (assuming you're in the #3 slot,) 8, 9 - etc. Done quickly, go back to blasting/controlling/whatever. Doesn't take that long.
If you find buffing tedious, don't play a buffer.
If you find being squishy tedious, don't play something squishy.
If you don't like melee, don't play a tank/scrapper/brute/stalker.
If you don't like control, don't play a controller/dominator.
Amazingly enough, people do this *all the time* and delete their tanks/scrappers/defenders/corruptors/controllers/etc.
If you want to play "support" but not deal with this type of buff, look into Rad, Dark, Traps, etc. There are other options.
These are pretty much my thoughts on playing a support role. -
Quote:I would gladly accept a donation of a billion or two influence, and promise to convert it to Prestige.A better inf sink, I think, would be to encourage more base use (via more things to do with bases, both for full SGs and solo SGs), along with a better inf => prestige conversion ratio. One that people would be willing to pay.

Quote:QFTI simply assumed the OP misspelled "she" and "her" and was totally baffled by "iggy". Which had me thinking that the OP had a lot of nerve to correct someone elses spelling when the OP can't spell simple pronouns.
It wasn't until others mentioned those pronouns origins that I realized they weren't misspelled. But I must be honest, in my 40+ years I have never seen nor heard of them being used before today.
The same here, Forbin.
