There is no reason not to use the same system Portal Corp uses. Color/name X/Y/Z corordents along the dimensional axis. So Paragon/RI would be Prime 000. I think Praetoria all ready has an official number.

Do you mean the place in which a toon loads for the first time, or the state of its existence upon that load?

Well, given they're not just worlds, "Dimension of origin" (or simply "place of origin," I suppose) would also work, unless you're looking for a single-word description.
I'm somewhat against "homeworld" for nitpicky RP reasons - as Kheldians wouldn't be "from" Primal Earth, though their merged forms (likely) would be, and people have a good number of alien/other-dimensional/otherworldly characters, elementals and the like. But I wouldn't lose any sleep if you used it.
Is there anything wrong with just using Hero, Villain, Praetorian? You could use Paragon, Rogue Isles and Praetoria if you want to get specific as to your origination point.

Heh, I'll probably go with "homeworld." Whether technically true or not, it's accurate enough to distinguish it from other things. It's not a name that will be publicly seen; it's the name that will be used for a couple of database tables and that will be referred to inside Php code. I mainly wanted something relatively obvious for people who may eventually maintain the code, and so that I'll know instantly what it is when I'm coding it myself.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

Whatever name you use, it shouldn't have the word "world" or dimension" in it, as there are 3 starting factions, but only 2 starting worlds/dimensions.

I put color there in a spreadsheet of my own and use blue, red, gold as per the load-in screens.

So I'm working on a little project, and I need a good word to describe the property of where a character starts out, whether it's so-called primal earth (i.e. Rogue Isles or Paragon City) or Praetoria.
For example, the word I'm using to describe whether a person is a hero, vigilante, rogue, or villain is "alignment." "Origin" kind of works, except for the glaring fact that it's already taken for something else and using it would make things hideously confusing.
Any suggestions or ideas?
