    First 50?

    Absolutely go for what's fun to play, but more importantly play with folk, ideally the same folk, often.
    I played with a great VG and a handful of friends from a previous game (DAoC) the 1st time I played, around i2-i3. Came back to blue a couple years later and had to start a new account, which I've reactivated a couple more times, yet hadn't earned a 50 until fairly late in my 2nd bout with CoX. A fire/rad troll, cuz everybody had a kin. He's still my main and most complete toon, though he's far from finished, and now i19 will cause further delays...

    Shortly after hitting 50 with the fire/rad, I also managed to have last dings on my ill/rad and grav/kin trolls. But even today, my first character (not since deleted, as Chickenhawk was) is still a half bub shy of 50, shield/mace tank. He's got a pretty fair amount of AoE/CoE and even some splash-dmg type attacks...just need to make him more resistant. And 50. Eventually.

    But back to the point...with my fire/rad, I only probably use RI/EF a little less than half the time. When I'm soloing, I use it almost all the time, but it never stays up the entire duration of a fight, and is seldom worth trying to cast a second time.
    When grouped, usually I'm about 2 steps behind the tank or whoever is herding, and regardless whether I paste RI/EF on a minion or a boss, the target is down before I get the 2nd power on, so kinda mostly pointless. GMs, AVs are the kind of targets where my debuffs really shine, but most groups I run with don't really notice the lack if I don't use them, or much benefit if I do.
    And also too, I really wanna blow somebody up good, then mutate their sorry carcass into a killing machine, ya know!? *<8)

    the empty slottings are mostly filled in with SOs atm, a few standard IOs, nothing special or save-worthy.

    obvious goofs like Grav. Anchor where it is instead of in Fire Cages, for instance. yeah well, this was 2 years ago, come february and pretty much my first time playing with MIDS', also my 1st 50.

    Otherwise, what's needed here? where've I screwed up?
    So far, my experience has been that Def is worthless and Res is questionable. Squishy is as squishy does...and squishy mostly dies.
    Whether I'm running my Def/Res toggles or not makes zero difference on whether I fall or not, nor in how quick. Hence, focus on recharge and damage, immobs/holds/etc where more appropriate.

    Again, this is what I actually have on hand/slotted atm...I'm also seriously considering dropping RI/EF in favor of the Mutation/Fallout pair, but I might do that on my ill/rad instead

    Fire/Rad, sets ranged attack then moves in to melee, CC is must have
    Ill/Rad, plays Confuse heavily, little use for CC vs. end cost, but heavy RI/EF
    Grav/Kin, very much a "behind ya" kinda troll

    All depends on yer style, but CC to me has always meant Crowd Control, and Choking Cloud is an appropriate tool for some of that!

    I finally got on, see previous post;
    Started doing some recipe cleanup, switching toons and cleaningup each one, sorting sets, etc, chatted up my SG and couple globies, all seemed right with the world.
    Then about 1040PDT I had to dash out, came back and 3 more hours have gone by with...nothing, you all are saying?

    I am disappointed that we're now 2 hours over the projected time frame and we've not heard anything from the developers. I'm sure a simple acknowledgment of the issue and an ETA if available would go a long way towards settling some ruffled feathers.

    Dark Tanks

    I've been oog for a year, and coming back, I've rediscovered my DA/DB tank. I've also discovered some serious erros in slotting, but I hadn't given him any thought at all when I started him, sadly. Luckily, there's been a respec handed out and so I can salvage this wonderful toon. Even as he sits now, with only SOs and all kinds of mistakes, he seem to have better survivabilty and fewer endo issues than my Shield/Mace tank, though neither one is near finished.
    Thx for all the great discussion and the MIDS' builds, it's been really helpful in setting my mind on how I want this guy to work.
  9. only recently made either PB or WS, but have more enjoyed the WS in early levels and figure that, following my experience with squidness on PB, I'll go human/dwarf only on the WS.

    blasterishness as a cute lil girlform, tankishness when needed...that would make it a "blank" build, right? lol
