  1. I remember when I got my copy of the game, they had CoH on the shelf but the guy had to go dig around in the back of the store to find CoV.

Really though that's not such a big issue cause you can download the client off the website anyway. So all they really need is the advertising, which to be honest I've never seen any of ever, outside of MMO news sites when they release patches and such.

Back on topic though, I dunno if I'd use a full-on theme but a gadget for showing server status I could see myself using. Or one for showing which of my global friends are online. Or any number of other CoH-related things.
  2. I personally would love costume emotes specific to origins, but as already seen a lot of people hate there being anything in the game they can't get.

Thus, I would propose that any character will start with the only animations of their own origin plus the existing ones, and be able to do missions for the other origins to unlock the respective animations. Said missions would be available at level 20 (That being when you get your first alternate costume anyway, unless you use halloween salvage). For heroes from the origin contacts in City Hall in Atlas Park, and for villains... I'm not sure. Possibly the five contacts used for the origin of power arc, or probably easier would be to create new contacts because adding new missions to existing contacts at a different level might be harder than it looks. For heroes an additional mission would be available from Sunstorm or Shadowstar to unlock the kheldian animations. Maybe even make a kheldian contact redside for villains to get them too, though that might require a little poking and prodding of the plot around kheldians in general to not be a bit out of place.

Conceptually, it would work as your character learning skills or acquiring equipment or whatever from another origin. No reason a character whose original powers come from technology can't pick up a magical artifact or learn a handy spell, for example. It's just a little harder because they have less experience with that sort of stuff.

This way, they'd be something your choice of origin matters for, but you're not locked out of having science animations just because you're a mutant. You just have to do a mission first while actual scientists get them for free. (And have to do a different mission if they want yours in return)

Jon shrugged his shoulders with an uncaring "meh." She could sit wherever she liked, it wouldn't bother him in the least, as long as she didn't interrupt the perfectly good conversation he had at the moment. People were so rude.
Well, it was better than a flat no at least. She sat down, thinking maybe this wouldn't be quite so bad after all. Sure, she had to make do with ancient technology and her favorite music wouldn't even be written within the lifespans of most of the people here... but at least the people seemed normal enough. Why was that other girl looking at her like that? She looked back... Oh, she's a Warshade. Probably sensed her own Kheldian energy. Times like this she wished she had a symbiote that could say hi to the other girl's one. Oh well. She nodded back in a similar fashion, maybe they could- wait did that guy just say he can animate the dead? He's a necromancer?

The girl's eyes widened as the younger (Or older? Something weird about him, she thought.) kid found himself assaulted by someone's dinner. She just stared incredulously for a moment, before bursting out laughing. "Ok, that is awesome. You might want to knock it off though, it's probably against the rules."

"Get a load of that guys. Would you all like to go make ourselves acquainted?" His tone of voice and malicious smile told them that his motives were not exactly nice.
"Not really. He'll get what's coming soon enough, no need to ruin the party just cause one guy's an *******." She thought that might be sooner than the jerk realised, if the guy he'd whacked twice with the door had anything to say about it. Still, if the others got up she'd probably follow just for lack of anything better to do.
  4. Outside the admin building, two people suddenly appeared from nowhere, only a slight flash of golden light announcing their arrival. The younger one had the look of a potential student, and from the matching orange-ish brown hair and caucasian skin tone it would be easy to think the older one, presumably the instigator of the apparent teleport, was the girl's mother. Oddly enough, such was exactly the case. The girl at least had some form of power, as she was hovering maybe half a foot off the ground. "I still don't see why I have to go to school here", she complained. "I mean school in general I can sort of accept I guess but why's it gotta be here, now? And why can't I at least keep my stuff?"

That last bit apparently was something that'd been explained probably more than once already, if the look the older woman gave to her daughter was any indication. "Yeah, I know. Polluting the timestream and all that crud. Like Ouroboros doesn't do that enough already, not as if I'd make that much difference."

"Perhaps not, but we don't want to add things cause by our own daughter of all people to the already long list of messes to clean up", the mother answered, obviously very sick of having this conversation. "And before you ask, no you can't just keep travelling around with us. You need to learn to control your powers, and this is as good a place as any to do it. And stop hovering will you, before you forget how to walk." The daughter just gave her a rude gesture in response, and she sighed. "Fine. Come on, then." She proceeded inside, the girl hovering along behind her.

Some time later the pair of them emerged again, the girl carrying a couple of sheets of paper, a three ring binder and an ID card. "Why do they need so many rules anyway?", she wondered aloud to no one in particular. "Ninety percent of them are basic common sense anyway." She doubted she'd ever open them, let alone actually read them. "So.... you're going now then?", she asked, still sounding hopeful that she might be taken along anyway.

"Unless you want us to hang around for a while and embarrass you in front of your new classmates, yes", her mother answered with a faint hint of amusement. "If not, we'll go attend to things elsewhen."

The girl shook her head. "No thanks, life's gonna be miserable enough without adding that to."

"Alright then. You remember how to contact us, if you need to?" At that the girl nodded. "Alright then. Supposedly there's a party tonight, why don't you go and introduce yourself?" The two of them shared a hug, before the mother vanished again in that same golden light. The girl stared at where she'd been for several long moments before finally sighing to herself and walking off towards the dorms. May as well dump this waste of paper before I go say hi to people..., she thought to herself as she climbed the stairs to her room, checking one of the bits of paper she held to make sure she had the right one before opening the door, casually dumping the binder onto her bed - she'd moved in earlier - and closing the door again.

Figuring the party was probably the building with the lights on and the music, she wandered over in that direction. Pausing at the door, she looked around at the people wondering which one was the roommate she hadn't met yet. Sighing again, she went inside and mostly just dodged around people until she found a spot to sit down. Sure there was a purple skinned guy sitting just next to it but it was the only seat nearby that wasn't taken so meh. "You mind if I sit there?", she asked the guy before she sat down. Who knows, he might want his space. Early twentieth century people might be weird like that.

Still, compared to him at least she looked normal. Well, until you looked at her eyes. For a distance they looked normal but up close even the most unobservent would notice the small flecks of bluish-white light dancing in them. She hoped they wouldn't scare too many people away.

    The models are already there
Quite possibly not true. Depending on how the exact pieces were set up, they may or may not be capable of deforming based on the relevent sliders. Like all PC costume pieces have to but NPC ones don't because they're on the one specific model rather than one that can and will have wildly varying proportions. So if they're not set up to do that already, making them do so is a fair bit of work.

Although, I believe Jay made the statement a few issues back (After I10, with the vanguard pieces?) that all new NPC costume pieces would be already built to do this stuff. Don't quote me on that though, I could be misremembering things.

That said, I for one would love to have access to the Ouroboros uniform.

Given that a Dual Pistols set is being released soon I can't see the devs making another set based around single pistols.
I don't see why not. Given we already have three seperate sword sets, plus axe and mace sets that use nearly the same powers just renamed and with different animations. So I could easily see them adding a single pistol set at some point or other. Not right away, obviously, but sometime down the track.

Anyway, regarding the shield and two weapons thing, if you mean having two weapons and the shield out at once then I have to point out it's not possible. Something about attaching two things to one hand if I remember rightly, it's the reason twohanded sets like dual blades aren't allowed with shields. Mechanically anyway, the other more conceptual reason is that holding a shield and sword in the same hand looks really stupid - but personally I think punching with your shield arm as many non-weapon sets do looks equally stupid so meh.

If on the other hand you mean a shield and one weapon in the other hand changing depending on which power you use, then that's doable. I, however, will refuse to make any character with the set because eew redraw. That's a personal opinion though.

And consequently freedom and virtue would become even MORE laggy, possibly to the point of being unplayable for those like me who play from the other side of the world (New Zealand in my case) and/or on a bad connection.
  8. I can't say I'd buy one, but it'd be a cool little gimmick I suppose.

Does Ice Armour include a recharge debuff in any of its powers? If not then perhaps that could be a Secondary effect applied to Gauntlet? If it does then Ice would suddenly become very powerful.
Chilling Embrace has a -recharge effect.
  11. If the kheldian buff inherents were made into aoe auras, the numbers would have to be reduced to retain some semblence of balance. Consider that a single kheldian on a team with say three tanks and three blasters would be giving the entire team 60% damage and 30% resist all. That's better than some defenders can manage. Add a second kheldian to that team and it becomes 120% damage, 60% resist all and 20% slow resist. So yeah, it'd get very unbalanced very quickly.

Assassination would be buffed (or debuffed, depending on your views) to deal a set percentage of damage depending on the opponent's rank.
They tried this, I believe, back when they were last looking at revamping the stalker inherent. It was deemed to be underpowered on low ranking targets and overpowered on high ranking ones.
  12. If such a thing went on sale, the price should be what the difference was between the normal and collector's editions. Which was $10, I think. Cause any other price would be seen as unfair in one direction or the other.
  13. Hmm, for weaknesses they could always go the Kheldian route and have enemies spawn specially for incarnates that are extra effective against them. Malta has such a weapon in the LRSF, I believe - you steal it to beat up Ms. Liberty.

I was meaning a page on the existing wiki for the thread itself, plus pages for characters, etc etc. Just like how the other threads are set up on there - page for the thread and a category tag for all that thread's characters.

Though I suppose having a seperate one works too.
  15. Could try contacting Seikon about the wiki, wouldn't be the first time a thread's been added to the wiki by request. She's away from the forums at the moment though so might be hardish to get ahold of.
  16. For me, at least: Pool powers first, then epic pools, then epic ATs. Then more new animations for whatever they feel like making them for.
  17. Lookie what I found. Just in case people want to read some of the old thread - the best way to get an idea of what it was about, IMO.
  18. Personally, I think a better idea would be to have the new thread start off a new term at the school. Thus, all the plots in progress can be safely thrown out under the assumption that they'd have been finished off in the intervening time, but established character development doesn't have to be erased.
  19. I wasn't involved in the old one at all (If it hadn't died before I finished reading it all then I would've been!) but if anyone was to start a new one I'd join i a heartbeat.

Would the police train Super-powered S.W.A.T.?
Isn't that the general idea of the PPD hardsuits, psi-cops, drones and Kheldians? That they're for when even a SWAT team isn't good enough?
  21. Sounds simple enough, yeah. But multiplied by almost every costume piece in the game?
  22. Random idea: The functionality already exists to spawn a second instance of a zone if one is overpopulated, right? Would it then be possible to forcibly spawn a second instance every time an event starts? So if people have non-event stuff that needs to be done in that zone, they can switch to the other instance.
  23. While cool, I doubt this would ever happen. The reason being, most costume pieces as I understand it don't exist outside of what can be seen. Like how if you get up close to a wall so the camera zooms in and part of your character's head disappears, you don't see the inside of the other side of the head. So if you, with the existing pieces, made for example an arm invisible, the character would have a giant gaping hole where said arm attaches to the rest of the body, through which you would be able to see right through the character. They'd have to remake the vast majority of the game's costume pieces. So yeah, not likely any time soon.
  24. No, your forum account gets disabled if your game account is inactive. So if you want to continue you have to buy the game, unfortunately.

You'd think so, wouldn't you. As I said earlier, happens disturbingly frequently. Though, most of them tend to be pretty terrible at RPing to begin with. (Hint: Characters who never ever lose get old really fast.)
