  1. Merry Christmas!

LOL @ Batman. That picture sure looks familiar. Wonder if I got that in my collection somewhere, lol.
  2. All very worthy causes. Trying to choose between sick children or appreciating our troops was too hard for me. So I just split my donation between them.

Would like to see the addition of charities which help animals. They need our help so badly and it's where I like to donate my money.
  3. Now we know where Hamidon Goo comes from!
  4. Wonder how much lead paint is in those suckers, lol.

Hate to use bad words like 'Warcraft'. But it would be nice if CoX ever managed to market this game like they manage their merchandice. Statesman figurines, collector cards, w/e. Then have it all available online.

    Winter Realm Bug

While I'm not PUH-psychic. Think they might be fixing the event now...

Servers are down and had to download a patch! Guess we'll see.
  6. I saved like 1000 worlds the other day. Why do I still get naughty presents!

    Meow?

I've been multiboxing for quite a while. Mainly WOW because it allowed all the bells and whistles. Such as keyboard and mouse broadcasting. Not to mention a slew of add ons.

Well since I quit WOW for COH several months ago. I pretty much run 2 COH accounts all the time now. The lack of flexibility though keeps me from expanding to more.

How do you guys multiboxing COH handle your slaves? For me I'm just running 2 masterminds right now. So lots of the work is already handled by the AI.

What I'd like to know is if anyone keyboard broadcasts and how. Also a decent place to find macros for stringing out multiple commands.

Seems that thread in the original link has some useful info. Was passing out tired last night when I posted this, lol.

    Hack II

    COOLNESS!

Missed out on your first one. Looking very forward to playing!

I just have to say what an ingenious way to get people into AE and for using AE in such a creative manner. This really is a stroke of brilliance!
  10. You've pretty much highlighted the many problems Bub. All summed up with your last sentence. Where is the incentive?

There is no incentive. For the authors nor the players.

The authors write and it's just impossible to get plays outside of the super critical MA community. Quite a few times including just today a fellow author that I respect left me comments such as- I don't understand this or that instead of just trying to enjoy the story. It's like they don't even read the text.

It's something I just don't understand. For a bunch of authors- where's everyone's damn imagination, lol. Seriously... I already feel as if I am dumbing down my writing and any further dumbing down it'll read like a friggen manual.

The same story I've got lots of praise for also from fellow authors as well. Opinions are like- well you know...

I dunno maybe it's just another one of those things. The author who didn't 'get it' didn't even complete the story and obviously didn't read it at all. Or have no reading comprehension. It's just why waste mine and your time if your just going to half *** read the material. Just to criticise anothers work?

If I want to be critizised I'll go visit my parents.

To me it's no wonder why no new authors stick around. I was very excited and into it when I first began. Spending literally hundreds of hours, heart, and soul into my stories. But now I don't even join the MA channel anymore. Half because of the authors- the other half because people just aren't interested and have no incentive.

It's all a lost cause until the Dev's step up to the plate. The balls in their court. They just don't seem to understand, care, or even get involved anymore. Until they fix the problems you outlined for them, and that have been outlined repeatedly, and discussed to the point of nausea. There will be no further growth and it'll just continue to die.

There' not one single thing you, me, or other players can do at this point.

I liked that Ironmik one too. But I was thinking it looked like 2 frat guys going... CHEST BUMP! lol
  12. Cardiac is pretty awesome. Went with it on my SS/MERCS MM and neither mine or my pets endurance barely budge now.

Which is great because my pets would just peter out as they hit 0 endurace. Now they can go balls out 100% of the time.

It's a viable strategy that some MMs refuse to consider since they think they have to keep their pets alive.

It's like the MM role at a redside Hami Raid.

Or, play like a Tankermind and Team TP your pets around with you.
    Very sound advice.

Lots of MM that I've encountered don't use the resummon strategy. I throw wave after wave of pets if needed. Just throw kiting and aggro management in there and you're good to go.
  14. Well I think it's a good idea. They'd have to cost a ton of tickets for sure.

Yeah people exploit AE but it still takes X number of tickets to buy the item. As long as the reward was on par with the length of a ship raid then what's the big deal. If it takes you an hour to do a ship raid or an hour to farm 9999 tickets. As long as they both take the same length of time where's the harm.

You also can't SELL the incarnate components. So there would be little to no reason to exploit tickets for them.

A ship raid takes an hour or so. I usually walk away with 700+ merits. Enough for several Gr'ai maters.

God forbid we do something to get people into AE right? Seems like the attitude these days.
  15. Yeah that was one of the first arcs I ever played too. Because it's on the front page doesn't mean it's good. Those guest authors just threw some crap together thinking COH would give them free publicity. Which I'm sure it has to some extent.

Anyway I think you have to take one of the many sewer entrances. Once again just poorly planned and crappy writing slapped together over a few hours.
  16. Never had the pleasure of knowing Malibu Sally. But I'm sure she's smiling from a wonderful place for being remembered.
  17. Because 'Not So Grandville" didn't sound as good of course!

Everytime I see the name though... In my mind I hear...

"Take the last train to Grandville and I'll meet you at the station! There's no need to worry because I've made our reservations!

    Yeah I know it's Clarksville
  18. As much as I'd like to see if people are just standing around leeching in a ship raid or something. Overall I don't really care. A DPS meter would just be an epeen meter like it is in WOW. That's many people's greatest fear, turning COH into a WOW environment, and a DPS meter would be heading in that direction.

    3d

I got suckered into buying a pair of these a few years ago, lol.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whm9WsaEPgk

Damn you Wil Wheaton and your persuasive selling techniques!

The glasses actually weren't too bad. Far from true 3d. They sit here behind my computer in brand new condition with a layer of dust. Should break them out and see how COH looks. If they still work that is!
  20. Ramification TM

    Just for Fun...

Looks pro to me. I actually like the blurry star as it brings focus to what you want people to look at.
  21. You're just going to have to spawn the map as empty and manually fill in the mobs via spawn points. Then just fool around with the spawn points until you get some consistency.

One key is choosing a good map for your goal. Also remember outdoor maps don't have a front/mid/back. So they'd all be out. Just try and narrow it down. One cool thing is you can set up all the spawns/mission objectives then change the map repeatedly and see how it worked out. As long as the spawns fit of course.
  22. While I understand the need for the change. It could have been done differently. Such as enemies that don't do damage give no exp and exp not being daisy chained linked by mob groups.

This change hit most of my arcs. I use allied patrols for scenery in all my arcs. What am I suppose to do? Go back and destroy my own work for the sake of exp?

Like most others here. I don't write my stories with rewards in mind. The fact that they'll be penalized now for me trying to make the story more engaging just pisses me off.

What sucks is people don't really care about good arcs. I've done everything possible to get people to play my stuff and in 3 months nothing has broke 10 plays.

It must have been nice when MA just started. Like WN stated earlier look at the plays and dates. Those arcs were released when AE was new, people were interested, and more forgiving.

I've played lots of those arcs in the HOF or near the HOF and they're crap. Even the guest author stuff is just CRAP. Yeah I'm looking at you LOLBAT. They're where they are because of the time they were released.

New authors such as myself never had a chance. The only people I could turn to were my fellow authors. Really hate to say it. But I don't think I've met a much more stuffy, critical, or self absorbed bunch in quite a while.

Guess it is understandable to some degree. We're all authors and we want people to play our stuff. As authors we want to write and not play others arcs when that time could be used on our own. But any person who was interested in seriously writing through MA will eventually leave in disgust.

My arcs... I've spent hundreds of hours on EACH one and that's no BS.

The comments from some of my fellow authors has been laughable to hurtful. It's like Jesus Christ I spent all that time and effort to just be nit picked. Sure I would like some constructive critisism but a little friggen praise would be nice too.

Such as the MA SG that did my Halloween arc. That was a real WOW, what a bunch of jerks moment for me. Saying my costume designs looked like cheap dime store Halloween garb or some crap. Well yeah NO DUH- It is a comedy, the characters are designed after 1930's-1950's Hollywood. Sorry it wasn't Twilight for you. Totally missed the 3 Stooges meets Dracula type thing I was going for.

Not saying that people have to like my work. Of course everyone is different. Really I don't need people to tell me my work is good. I know it's good. I'm almost 40 years old, been around the block more than once, written for years, been in magazines. Who needs a bunch of armchair authors slamming them into the ground?

The sad fact is that the only people you can get to play yours arcs outside of friends/supergroup are this highly critical group that most anyone would be turned off from.

Like I said. It must have been nice to have been here in the beginning when people were more forgiving. There will never be any new authors that stick around and the old authors are falling by the wayside daily.
  23. Might I suggest a thread->

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=1#post3289025

I went there for a little help on my last arc. Might be some helpful info or ideas for you. There were a few people in that thread recreating Longbow.
  24. A good thing to do is run your arc through a grammar/spellchecker before you do anything. It's just way too hard for people to feedback grammar/spellchecking and much easier for you to just run it through a checker.

You don't want your feedback to be consumed by how to fix your grammar and spelling. You want feedback to make your story better.

Lots of free checkers online- I use this one here:
    http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/

When I feel like I've pretty much finished. I copy and paste all my mission text into Notepad by tabbing in between COH. Then I hit the checker and make the corrections in Notepad and paste the corrected text back into the missions.

Save coloring your text for last because it makes it much harder to run through a checker.
  25. Yeah what WN said-^ That's why I said it would probably be very difficult to implement a new system.

Only thing that seems fair is every 5 star vote would equal a thumb up on a Like/Dislike system. That way old arcs would still be at the same point in their HOF climb.
