the pigg files probably use the same file structure.

  3. For future reference, under the "Development" header is the Tech issues & bugs subforum - that's the best place for inquires like these.

Glad it was a easy fix for you, though

I went and bought the architect edition. I couldn't wait another week, I want to go past level 14 and get out of the low level areas. I'll get the rest down the road. If anyone is interested my global name is Shrouded Host, currently playing in Virtue and Triumph, same name!
There are two version of Going Rogue. The "upgrade" version (cheaper, no goodies pack, no month of free time) which requires a non-trial account, and a "Complete Edition" - aka Going Rogue CE - which can be used to create a brand new full (non-trial) account, has the goodies, and includes the free month.

At ncsoft.com's online store, only the upgrade version is currently available.

If you don't mind spending the money "now" (as in the next week) you can also go to a Gamestop/Software Etc and "pre-order" the CE edition and get some special in-game goodies. they are not huge, but they are nice little early-game boosts.

I know the feeling. Saw a girl today I had not seen in a while, with a toddler, said hi and she mentioned going to the bar, etc.

I recall when she was in preschool, getting in trouble for signing her name (along side my brother) on the gym floor. And now she can legally drink alcohol.

I headed for the booze aisle in the store we were in afterwords...

Yes, it works by taking advantage of how the program is designed to run (preferring the unpacked files in the data folder) but the end result is a client that is different when you play (it shows the modded maps vs. the original maps, etc.) then one without the files added in.

But as you said - the client is designed that way. And I'm pretty sure they could change that easy if they wanted to.

Similar fun - if you have the untargetable vet pets, well... Rikti Monkey on a rikti map, Red Cap in croatoa, etc.

I had one toon once named "The Stars Are Right" (which was something of a ref and a long story not fitting for here). So whenever he'd talk to a contact or run into a room with a boss, the boss would go "Stars Are Right?! What are you doing here?!" I hated that. If "The Batman" runs into a room, he should be greeted as such.
It does appear above your head.

And in a situation where The Batman appeared in a room and was "greeted" as such, it would be as a warning to others. The way english prefers to work, you don't call someone "the <blank" to their face, really.

Now, as far as passerby NPCs referring to your exploits, yes, they should use the "the" - but it's a limitation of the context, I think.

I'm mostly stuck picking my ATs. I'd like to explore all the solo content I can, while still getting into every TF at least once. I'd also prefer to do blue-side content first; the guides/population seem slightly better, increasing my chances of seeing it all, and I've seen less of it than red-side.

My first thought was a blaster, but they seem incredibly common during my short forays so far; my next choices -- brutes and corruptors -- probably still are too, but I love brutes and corrs, especially kinetics. I do like defenders a lot -- esp kin and emp, for concept reasons -- but I have bad memories of not finding enough TFs to make up for how much I lost in soloability (I've been spoiled by my brutes); plus, emp/ used to become much less useful at higher levels, while kin/ sounds very common nowadays, at least on the forums.

So I think I've narrowed my top preferences down to: Go kin/ defender and try to find an active SG ASAP so I can see regular TFs, saving the badge/arc-hunting for another toon; or go /kin corr and then switch sides ASAP with GR. I have a feeling brutes will be everywhere after GR, or that'd be a top choice too. /kin corrs will probably be common too, but I recall corrs being a bit more stackable and less common.

    Anyway, just thinking out loud...
    Eh, I prefer Kin/ stalkers

I'm well aware that there is balance needed with this, so I would like to see multiple Tankers on a team helped in this, while still remaining balanced.

What changes are for sure with Brutes in Going Rogue? I saw mention of their resistance cap being lowered, with their powers getting a slight increase overall to resistance, but it looked like that was removed in Zombie Man's list. I personally thought that was a move in the right direction with Going Rogue. That change would keep them over Scrappers in survivablity, but not overstep on Tankers.

Adjusting aggro generation to favor Tankers more would also make more sense, as Starsman kind of mentioned.
I don't know if they could cap it, but it would be possible to make a "barely stacking" bruising - basically using the same tricks as front loaded auras. I have no idea of how cludgy this would end up being, however.

  13. For basic utility, I say Good v. Evil. It has both the pocket D teleporter, Pocket D ViP pass, and the jump jets/jump pack whch is nice to have especially if you end up going super speed.

After that? Going Rogue - if you wait a week or so the "CE" version should be out such is the full game plus the goodies.

Arcitect w/magc pack fr buffing others, but the science pack's self destrction s fun too. Or the ninja pack for ninja run (the last you must buy seperate, as it is not a choice for AE )
  14. Also, there are no free renamed other than puposely moving a character to a server where their name is taken ( and thus getting a free rename ) the global remand would be just for your chat handle.
  15. Missed this announcement - going to have to find it.

    Anyway - server transfers -
Last time this happened, they removed the ability to purchase server transfer. A token system took it's place, 6 or 7 tokens were given to each account. 7 days after each token is used up, it is replenished/refreshed/returned. So it is a limited unlimited transfer setup.

    Addon software?

Technically, the Map Pack does violate the Eula. While it does 't modify any of the games files, it does modify the client. Mind you, from what I've seen/learned over the years, the mod "hole" is probably easy enough for them to fix if they wanted to.

However - the map pack (becausenof how useful it is) as well as the sound mods and a few powers (mainly sonics) mods are ignored/"I can't hear you Lalalala" - especially the sounds that cause migrianes.

It's simpler to forbid any mods and ignore these few QoL ones than risk sanctioning any and havng to defend denying others.

Not that it would work if you had a character with a name that was 15 characters long. But that's how Jack rolls.

Maybe we can get them to look into increasing it again, after GR launches...
Actually, "Evil " and "Dark " and "Anti-" all take up five spaces. 15 + 5 = 20.

I wouldn't mind some more spaces, though. Been using a name scheme that leaves me with a small amount of room to spare.

How is "the" as a title a useless option? It's proven very nice and useful in the past, especially since NPCs don't use your titles when talking to you. Think Batman, for example. He is frequently called "The Bat" when talked about, but simply Bat when talked to. It impies a uniqueness.

    Of course that's silly.

As a grownup, you want several large trees in proximity to each other so you can build a "fort" you can fit in!

It's not just for when/if you buy Going Rogue.

To keep things simpler, the client isn't "modular" like EQ 1's where you could avoid downloading zones you do not have access to. In addition, there will be enough stuff from GR that you will be able to interact with/witness in the non-GR zones (powersets, for example) that you need the GR stuff anyway.

  23. Autocomplete and abandon are different. Autocomplete finishes the mission and let's you move on through the conact. Abandon has no limit, really, but it makes it as if you had never aquired the mission

    5 + 0 = 5 compared to 5 x 0 = 0
    5 + 1 = 6 compared to 5 x 1 = 5 :/
    5 + 2 = 7 compared to 5 x 2 = 10 !
Except you are not multiplying by whole numbers, but percentages.

Furthermore, the numbers that are additive include the subtractive numbers from defense before the multiplication ever kicks in.
