  1. Personally, I'd go /Fire Dominator, but that's just me.

Fire Blast and Blaze are just ridiculous on a Dom. Toss in a little ranged control (Why hello, Dominate, and good day to you Ring of Fire), season with Flares as needed ... why it can be downright tasty.

    Pimping ain't easy. Nice.
  3. Really depends on what you want to debuff. A Scrapper isn't going to debuff across a variety of attributes, like a Rad/ def - -res, -def, -tohit, etc ... but certain combos will do really well. I felt like my DM/DA was pretty solid back in the day at -tohit, particularly stacking ToF/CoF/attacks. It made a meaningful impact, but post CoF nerfage, possibly not so much.

Love the potential in an AoE focused Katana build to debuff def and res, with various procs.

I agree with you. Its not a valid reason at this stage in the game - was merely re-stating CoV Beta convos for the record.
  5. The bad information collectively demonstrated in this thread is off the charts.

I was in CoV beta. Jonyu (sp? - the dev assigned to Brutes) explicitly stated that both Spines and Ice were not given to Brutes because the -recharge effects interfered with Fury generation. Period.

Damage auras on Scrappers are pretty damned consistent with Damage auras on Brutes. Yes, they don't critical on Scrappers. With the damage multipliers and average fury, they're still very close. (Excepting Brutes that can consistently keep 80%+ Fury)

Damage auras don't generate fury in the same manner as an attack (as at least one poster has theory crafted). The only thing they do is generate aggro, which consequently generates attacks, which generates fury.

Holy crap, guys, less theory crafting please.

So yes, this is going to be a repeat.

The random number generator is random.

The random number generator only rolls on enemy defeat.

The random number generator is random.

The more enemies a player defeats in a mission, the more times the random number generator rolls.

Sometimes the random number generator gives a desired reward.

Most of the times the random number generator does not give a desired reward.

The random number generator is random. All the random number generator cares about is the defeat of an opponent.

At this point in time there is no code evidence to suggest that the player's defeat history is tracked for drop rewards.

How did I test this? Dual Boxing, Triple Boxing, and Quadboxing various AE arcs, Ouro Arcs, Task Forces, and regular story missions.

Now, there is a trade-off in total available rewards. Many of the game's rewards are tied to event completion rather than the random number generator. Alpha-Merits, Regular Merits, and Task Force Specific Incarnate Salvage stand as examples of these event completion rewards.

Assuming defeats per second are equivalent, a team that clears every map in an event are going to get far less total rewards compared to teams that hit the enemies they need to hit and just get on with that event.

A team that takes 3 or so hours to clear an LGTF is going to get far less total rewards than a team that didn't clear an LGTF, but ran an LGTF, an ITF, and maybe a Dr. Khan in the same amount of time.
Assuming you're in it for the shards, this is bad advice.
  7. I'm pretty sure my /SR, my /Elec and my /WP would get curbstomped on +1/x8 without IOs.

    "You will die"

  8. I would probably take the Fighting Pool and slot Weave, if soft-capping is a goal. Helps you save on slots and avoid crazy slotting to get set bonuses.

(Assuming S/L capping is your goal)

Candidates for dropping: Snow Storm, Tactics, Smoke and Vengeance.

All four are nice powers, but ...

    - Probably have enough slow to not need Snow Storm (that's the case with my Fire/Cold Corr)

    - With Sleet and its massive def debuff up, shouldn't need tactics (in theory ... again, I don't on my Fire/Cold Corr)

    - Vengeance is nice, but Weave is nicer (and you still have a place for the LOTG)

    - I personally don't like Smoke but YMMV

With saved slots, I'd focus on up-slotting the Shields - you're going to need to keep those pimps alive if you're going pylon soloing. shields + maneuvers + artic fog isn't godly defense, but every little bit helps.

YMMV, good luck, let us know how it goes

  12. I'll be honest, not liking the slotting of energize, personally. YMMV, but I prefer ED capped recharge in Energize. I have mine on a 34 second recharge.

Even without Fury I can't find any point where adding Follow Up to a chain increases the DPS. Surely that's not right.
Are you using the mid's activation time for Follow Up? Its wrong.

Depends on what time period you're looking at, and what comparison points you're using.

I2 and early I3 sucked. I leveled a DM/DA Scrapper to 50 from I2 launch to early I4. And I experienced all the joys of non-stacking armors.

No, they don't. Need to be 10 days post-conception IIRC.

(Just went through this entire process this weekend, had a discussion with the doctor yesterday, so its pretty fresh in my mind!)
  19. The exploit has been around since I4-ish (? I think), whenever the Hami-Os were toned down from 50% ---> 30%. Castle was on record prior to I9 (still quoted on Paragon Wiki) that its an exploit they're aware of. That said ... 15 issues and counting, still out there. Obviously not a high priority (I know, I know, I'm going out on a limb with that one)

    I run something similar ...

    Haymaker --> Punch --> Gloom --> Haymaker --> Punch --> KO Blow

I run 80% global recharge and can run the chain with Hasten is up.

Edit: Deus's chain is better .... mmm two Glooms, tasty

I currently have him as a Fire/Rad Corruptor; and I enjoy everything about that combo except for the glaring lack of mez prot. Plus, I prefer defense builds...and it will be hard to softcap a Fire/Cor without taking Scorpian's pool and still keeping all the powers I want.

Short version: I am looking for an end-game character with sets that fit the name Starforce. I am looking for a PvE character and build; but also one that could PvP at least acceptably. I prefer mez protection if possible, and have burnt myself out on playing Fire/Kins for a bit.

    So...any thoughts/suggestions?

Again, to clarify. I am extremely happy with my Dark/Invul Brute build. Please stop telling me to change it. And PS, this is not a request for assistance with my Dark/Invul brute build.

I am currently playing a Fire/Rad that I am interested in softcapping (to all 3).

Here's the kicker - I am NOT interested in taking Scorpin's pool to accomplish this; I want to take Force from the Defender Pool. I also need to take flight as a (groan) theme travel power.

I have just over 20 billion to spend on the build, and its for my namesake character, so money is not a concern.

So, given all my obnoxious criterium, can this be accomplished?

(I would play with Mids, but it hasn't been working for me lately - so I need advice)

    Thanks in advance,

Softcapping to all 3 ... a bit challenging. And possibly not necessary?

Think of it like this: Taking Hover, Maneuvers and Weave will net you base 9% def to all at Corruptor values. 14% slotted. Add a +3% IO and a +3% PvP IO and you're at 20% to all positions. That's a good start.

If you're looking to do one thing (like S/L defense), you'd follow a conventional path of kinetic combats in Boxing/Brawl, etc ... could probably softcap. Doing all would be tough.

My recommendation would be to target +32.5% to all melee / ranged / AoE, with a purple inspiration to add the 12.5% to get you to 45%. You could get that relatively easily, and still have a layer of mitigation with rad infection.

    - Melee: Obliteration in Inferno, TofDeath in Total Focus & Boxing gets you close.

    - Ranged: Thunderstrikes in Flares/Fblast/Blaze gets you close.

    - AoE: 3-slot Aegis in Tough & Temp Invulnerability gets you close.

Those are some options to consider.

    Good luck, Star!
