  1. a quick question, how do I bind a key to open chat in a certain channel or the active tab?

    something like /bind [key] team

(oh and does anyone know how to take care of the fact that if you open chat this way, your first keystroke isn't recorded?)

    Changes to Rage

just a question, but if taunting ability would remain, would that help?
  3. good point hepcat, the same goes for clues given in missions: if you join a team on a storyarc you have no clue what is going on, or what it is those captives who say "i've gotta tell you something" want to say.

As an aside, I leveled my controller to the point where I can safely and timely solo missions and the result is that I have been playing more. Before I would log off, if my SG wasn't online to help me complete my missions. Now I do them regardless, and when one goes online I send an invite. What I mean is, soloing has it's place in the game, since teaming up isn't always doable.
  4. nice , thanks.

(grumbles: I want rise of the phoenix for my firecontroller)

    Boss Changes

    [ QUOTE ]
So maybe we need to shift our focus towards new TYPES of missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very very good idea! AT specific missions are very in line with the story too: who would ask the invisible girl to do the same mission as he would ask worlverine? Let the contacts preselect some missions that would fit best with the specific hero.
  6. I have the original zip, if someone needs it send me a PM
  7. claw, try reinstalling the SoD program, it might just do the trick. I haven't had any problems either.
  8. What is the EPS bonus for accelerated metabolism?
  9. did the EPP Oppressive Gloom get changed? the above list says ranged aoe, while it normally is a PB aoe.

OK gang, we'll throw at least 2 of your wants into Issue 4.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    My bet is:

assuming he is looking at the first post in the thread...

PvP - If you go to Peregrine Island towards the northwest of the main island on the test server there is some massive construction going on. The workers refer to it as, 'the arena'.

New Epic AT's - Stateman has previously said we will see more of them 'soon'. I would think Issue 4 fits with a game developers vision of 'soon'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

isn't ssocs planned for issue 4? i'd say it's the arena and the skills/ssocs.

I think there are "casual team players" and "casual soloers" So claims that team based content is screwing the "casual gamer" aren't accurate. they're screwing SOME casual gamers. And some more then others, at that. The problem is, when someone feels they're getting screwed, they're rarely calm enough to make such distinctions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be why I said "one aspect of casual gaming."

That is also why in my original post on this thread I pointed out that there are different kinds of casual gamers. I thought I summed it up pretty well, not that Statesman even wants to touch the issue of casual game play or hardcore game play.

The very last thing Statesman wants to do is admit that the direction of the game is turning it into an EQ clone with spandex. A month ago I would have said that this game being compared to EQ archtypes was ridiculous, however after the new Epic ATs were released and the other new content that is being release was shown to me I think that they are trying to implement encouraged (forced) teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My mistake, I should have started with part of the casual players don't get to play in long sessions.
I do be lieve that a ood part of the casual players plays like this, a few short sessions during the week and a longer one (or two ) in the weekend ( at least that is it in my SG)

Also, if your playtime schedule doesn't mesh with the rest of the players (you get the play at the low times) you'll have a much harder time finding a group (meaning you waste more time organising one, and meaning that is you can't solo it's time you don't get xp)

Anyway, the increased HP in Issue 3 slow down the low damage At's considerably.

As an aside, I'm quite allright with making grouping more interesting (the way of the carrot) but I'm not ok with making soloing harder or nigh on impossinble (the stick)

    [ QUOTE ]
One aspect of casual gameing is the ability to solo and progress through content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And with that fallacy as a central premise I can easily ignore the rest of your post.

Preference for soloing or grouping has nothing to do with casual vs advancement driven play.

[/ QUOTE ]I guess you are missing his point then:
casual play means you have a limited time and shedule tp play in.
Teaming allways takes more time than soloing, there is no dount about it, between waiting to get a team together and doing other pwoples mission before your own, you take a good chunk of time in which you dont advance through your own content.
Playing at odd hours may make finding a team, hard, and sometimes fruitless..

I'll give an example ; yesterday I had about half an hour of time to play, I found a team in everret lake, and after killing two spaws, they disbanded. So i was left with 15 minutes, and a completely empty perez park. finding another team, in another zone would have taken any time I had left. SOloing or logging was my option. So, I logged.

    17. Mind Control - outside of Fear - there are not any more changes planned in the immediate future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you aware of the bug in sleep powers (not sure if it's mind only) that allows a mob to still occasionally slip in an attack or other action when re-applying sleep? The damage precedes the sleep effect by a second.

    TAnker/earth melee/Seismic Smash

    [/ QUOTE ]
Um, I think you meant Tremor, Mr. Dev.

    [/ QUOTE ]

isn't that what avalanche shamans and one of the cot mages does?
No, he meant Seismic Smash. Tremor is a PBAoE and it does a small earthquake around the user.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, he meant TREMOR. Read what the original poster asked.

Seismic Smash is a fast, powerful attack that has no "jumping in the air" animation and no "bombs away" sound effect..

As a level 42 Stone Tanker, I know what the powers do. Geko made a boo-boo.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  15. I found that exemplared I get no enhancement drops anymore. Has anyone else found this too?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry, but the powers foes use may resemble similar powers that heroes use, but it's been stated before that they are not the same powers.

They just use the same animations because it's easier, and also because it gives us as players a reasonable idea of what the particular glowy effect a mob in particular is displaying at a given moment will mean.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well yeah that's correct, but does that explain that, for instance, every mob can jump out of caltrops, and we can't (not even with superjump?

There is a set of basic rules that mobs and heroes alike should adhere to, no matter what difference there is in their powersets.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    Villains can't turn on sprint.
    Villains don't use inspirations.
    Villains don't use build-up.
    Villains can't 'taunt' heroes.
Villains can't, as far as I know, use teleport foe.
Villains don't have access to invisibility, smoke, or any other stealth type powers.
Villains, though accessing powers out-of-level, generally don't have as many powers at that level as heroes. (e.g. a level 30 villain does not have 17 powers like we do)

    [/ QUOTE ]

heh, yeah some of thos are correct and some aren't.
villains Could use teleport foe, but they haven't been made yet, but they will.

villains DO use invis and stealth, look at the knives or artemis.

taunt and confuese powers, no they don't have that they don't work.

but they do have powers out of level and with different damage modifiers: death shamans use gloom, except its high damage instead of moderate. Villains aren't restricted by At's or the AT damage modifiers.
Being CPU controlled, means they ract faster, work more efficient, and get attacks of at moments we wouldn't because we are too slow.

In the end this offsets, one to the other.

Having villains disregards the mechanics of a certain power is crap, imo.
  18. I did some experimenting with teleport today, and yeah it's not what it was, you can't port on the below surface of a ceiling and (what used to my fun pastime) you can't break through geometry anymore.

The last one was actually the sellingpoint for the power to me; it's very very costly (endurance wise) and there fore quite dangerous, and unless you take hover aswell, you can't hunt with it at all. When I get to respec, I might just skip it, and go for flying.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Bone Daddies have access to Dark Melee AND Dark Blast.

Behemoths have access to Fire Blast AND Invulnerability.

That's just naming a couple off the top of my head. Really, if you want to argue players should be able to do the same things that villains can, you're talking about a whole lot more than just changing Teleport.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah they have powercombinations we cant get but they should obbey the rules of the game as we should. That means no jumping off caltrops and no porting where we cant port
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Dropping missions is a good idea. We'll get around to it. Much like a Mission Difficulty slider, it's a "sooner rather than later" feature.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Now that's funny, when this was discussed in beta, states thought it was a bad idea and unheroic.

I'm glad he changed his mind.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I have a Fire/Fire blaster which I have gotten to 28 and I really like him with my play style. However, I have noticed that having to take Stealth was a pain. So I have started a Fire/Dev blaster and have been enjoying it quite a lot. I decided to avoid Caltrops as I hear they stop being useful after awhile. I made 13 in two days, so that is good. I really like the Targetting drone. I'll probably go with Cloaking at 22, I will have Stamina already at 20 since I dropped Caltrops from the build

I'll let you all know how it goes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

how did you avoid taking caltrops? I mean at level 4 you have to take either taser or caltrops......

and about rain of fire, I use caltrops then rain of fire and finish off with fireball and-breath. This allows me to take on even con mobs. (btw duoing with a tanker is great, less downtime for damage)
  22. [ QUOTE ]

Super Reflexes is also the only secondary set where it *doesent* make sense to have a self heal. I mean... It's Super Reflexes. How does a guy who can move fast enough to dodge bullets manage to use that to heal himself?

    [/ QUOTE ]

have you never seen bruce le films where he is beaten to a pulp then stands up, straighten himself, wipes the blood away, and looks all better (and hella pissed), to turn the tables and beat up the other guys?
  23. To the OP, yadayadayada.....
sorry but how people get their levels is of no concern to me.
    [ QUOTE ]
my only problem with powerleveling is that it throws off the real figures. then after making the data bunk by having someone else crazy pl them to at least a point where their archtype has some real powers and abilities ..... and then saying the game is too easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now THIS I do agree with. It skews the numbers and makes datamining less accurate.
