I see the same problem with a magnetism set for conrollers.     I guess I don't see a need to delve into the dangerous waters that are magneto.

    This was discussed when the Devs first hinted at this powerset. The same argument was raised. IMHO, even if a something is "confirmed" doesn't necessarily mean it'll make it into the game. Nothing is "confirmed" really until it goes out on test, and even then the Devs could change their minds in light of the pending lawsuit.

    Anyway, it's been said before and I'm saying it again. Marvel doesn't have a copyright on super heros, and they definitely don't have a copyright on Magnetisim. As long as Cryptic is vigilant in not letting Magneto clones appear on the servers, there is nothing Marvel can do about it.

    Hmm, I can see where your're coming from...but I disagree that Gates' bust is more forceful. I thought the 1st place winner's was a lot more forceful...better use of lines. To put it generally, I thought the 1st place winner's version of Statesmen looked "tougher" and more rugged. More of a grizzled hero. Which is why (IMHO) the 1st place entry edged out his (but not by much).

    Wow, I don't think GillBates' is better then the 1st place winner but it's definitely better then the 2nd place or the 2 runner's up (and I thought their's were pretty damn good). Good job!

    Don't care, people can play however they want. The game (to me) is for relaxation and fun. If playing a member of the opposite sex is relaxing and fun to you, then go for it. If it isn't, I wonder why you bother...but again who cares. It is, after all, your 15 bucks a month.
  7. Wow, these really good "winning" wallpapers make my attempts at making wallpaper look incredibly shabby. I'm very good at photoshop but I'm horrible at drawing freehand.

    Anyway, congrats to all the winners. Maybe I'll enter into a contest when my skills improve.

    I'm not making any suggestions, and if you are referring to the examples I gave in my post, those examples are hardly along the lines you mention here. They are examples, to further my point...not suggestions for how the game should be, I do that in another part of the forum.

    To me, it sounds like you are the one making suggestions and then making assumptions on PvP based on them. Dev has announced nothing about inspirations in CoV. Geez, we don't even know if they'll be CALLED "inspirations". When they start presenting ideas, then I'll start making suggestions.

    Yeah, you are. There is a big difference between something being "similar" and something being the "same". Damage and Healing inspirations, ok these will probably have to be must have items. A Sleep/Stun/Hold Inspiration? MAYBE. Other defense inspirations? MAYBE. And even if the answer isn't MAYBE but YES, we still can't make the assumption that they will function EXACTLY the same way and with the same weght.

    Again I disgree, there is no SAFER guess...for the simple fact you AND myself know diddly squat about that the Devs have spent months planning. Based your guess on how you think they are going to do CoV and inspirations, you have already found a fatal flaw. I offered you another guess as to how CoV could work that would remove that problem.

    Stated again for emphasis, you and I know diddly squat about CoV ATs, power sets, inspirations (or whatever they are called), NPC villians/monsters that player villians will run into and their powers, etc., etc., ad nauseum. Bringing up the issue you meantioned is GOOD, don't get me wrong, but making general assumptions on how CoV is going to work, finding possible fatal flaws based on that assumption, and also assuming that Dev is going to be stupid enough to make controllers a "worthless" AT for PvP in that way is a little off to me.

    It radically alters their abilities in ANY instance of PvP. Doesn't matter who's fighting who ... if you're a controller, you just had your powers de-fanged when facing any other hero with access to inspirations.

    I agree it doesn't matter who is fighting who in this case...however, as far as PvP is concerned, I think you are making the assumption that villians will even have access to this inspiration. I sounds like you are expecting the villians in CoV to have the same inspirations that heroes have in CoH, but I do not think that this may necessarily be the case.

    So, for example, a Controller hero would run into a [insert AT here] villian and it wouldn't matter.

    On the flip side, I would hope that if they create a "controller-type" AT villian in CoV that the stun/sleep/hold inspiration used by heroes would have lesser impact (or no impact ).

    Basically, it's way to early to speculate on this right now. We don't know what the CoV ATs are going to be, what the powers are, or even what the inspirations are going to be.

  12. There was a rumor that there will be a PvP arena available in CoH well before CoV comes out. Will the PvP arena be post-update 3?

    Also, is the rumor true that the SSOCS (or whatever it's called now ) system will also be post-update 3 (but pre-Cov)?

  13. I highly doubt NCSoft can be this stupid or this greedy. A lot of people love CoH, they are building a fan base like nobody's business. To "double charge" in this way would make ZERO marketing sense, piss of the fans, and make people question pricing everytime a new "addition" to the game comes out. I hope this is just a wild rumor. I really want to try out CoV, but if they charge an extra 15 bucks to do so, then I won't bother. I'll stay content with CoH alone.

    Villain Emotes

    A lot of good ones in this thread...my emotes:

    - Nyah Nyah Emote - character sticks tongue out and puts hands next to ears and goes "Nyah Nyah"
    - Raspberry Emote - basically character gives somebody "the raspberry"
    - Snicker Emote - character snickers and points at somebody
    - Bring It Emote - kinda similar to the "taunt" animation in CoH except the character should point, do the taunt thing, and then slam the fist into the hand
    - Slap Emote - you should be able to just run up and slap somebody (no damage taken of course)
    - Manical Laugh Emote - crazy laughter and the character has his hands up like he just won the world series (or something similar)
    - Thumbs Down Emote - the antithesis of the Thumbs Up emote that players do when they say "Ready!"
    - Wack Em Emote - player moves finger across throat (you know that "kill him" gesture that baddies make in the movies )

    Indeed, this is why it's very important for you to be "picky" when choosing your missions...and read the description before taking it.

    If they allowed ppl to abandon a mission I think it should be treated as a "failed mission". You didn't complete it, the villians got away, and your contact is now pissed at you. I don't think you should get the option to do the mission again...the moment has passed, you abandoned it so you failed.

    If they implemented something like this, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  19. I didn't realize that this was a "bug". Was there some official word that it was? As of yesterday, I have been seeing (in indoor missions) villians at +1 and villians at my level intermixed in the mission. I'll run into +1's at the beginning, then +0's in the middle, then +1's, and so on.

    Sounds like this whole bug(?) will be null and void once the mission difficulty slider comes out.

  21. There was another post on this. I thought the TF badges showed up on the test server (??). Badges for TFs are supposed to show up if you've done them. Sounds like a bug. I hope people are logging it formally.

    The most appropriate comment in the whole damn thread. To kinda take Icarus's side on this, we ALL have a vision of the perfect game...but it's the perfect game only to us. Sh*t if I had my way I'd fight 5th Column all day, everyday...If I had my way this game would NOT have a "T" for "Teen" rating you can be sure...not many people would dig that.
