I only had about 15 minutes to play around with it since I loaded it onto a spare desktop - but yes, it was really annoying to shut down.

Old inactive accounts are already reactivated as Premium, but this week new Free to Play accounts will be available as well:

Yeah. I don't see any shift away from AE farming based on what we know so far. As seebs points out, I think the addition of Free and Premium players may be far more likely to alter the status quo than MARTy and this rez change.

Quote:Actually, I would guess that this is exactly what they planned to do all along, but it wasn't just a minor code change or simple fix at all, which is why they decided to disable them until they can get it done.Fortunately all it needs is a minor code change: add level pacting to the list of features that are free to VIPs but require a certain reward level (probably around the same as market access) or a paid license for Premium / Free players. Should be a quick change, but it'll take code time so I expect level pacts to be back when the code monkeys get some free time.

Quote:I saw the bit about getting the reward twice if you can do both the hero and villain mission in the same week, but are you saying that you can get one of each reward choice per week also? If so, that's awesome. I had thought that it was one per week, period. Not one of each.At 50, you can do this arc 8 times and get each of the rewards twice, but the counter for each set of 2 repeat rewards resets and you cannot receive the rewards again for 7 days.
So, again, at 50, the options you have are 1) a Hero/Villain merit; 2) 4 times the USUAL reward for this mission (5 merits), or 20 merits; 3) an Astral merit or 4) incarnate threads.
So, this is just to let you know that the devs do NOT want you to farm or grind...
Edit: Also, wouldn't that mean that to get both the Hero and the Villain merit you'd have to do a full side switch during that week, too? And of course, spend the merit before you switch. That seems like too much trouble for too little reward to me. I'd be more inclined to take my Rogue and a friend's Vigilante and swap missions and do it six times in one week, instead of eight. (edit again: oh, unless a Rogue or Vig can actually get both contacts, like a Task Force, which seems plausible...) -
Quote:This is probably the reason:Which is a big slap in the face to blue side.
The red and blue arcs are nigh identical clones of each other, but red side gets that cool 'thing' at the end and blue side gets nothing special.
It's giving me flashbacks to Mortimer Kal versus Admiral Sutter, where red side rewards a permanent power boost that lasts until level 50 and then turns into a Notice of the Well and blue side GETS NOTHING.
And before THAT, there's Vincent Ross versus Roy Cooling, the former jacks you up in power to battle an army of Legacy Chain and an entire TF of heroes while the latter, while still cooler than older blue side content, isn't even in the same ball park as the Ross climax.
It's clear where the most work went into and which arc the devs were more excited about.
It's not quite 'OMG devs hate heroes', but it's 'devs save the cool mission stuff and rewards for red side'.

Quote:The idea is that you clear the map in half the time it would have taken if the mobs rezzed. So you hop out and open a new map. Thus, what once took you, for example, 10 minutes in one instance now takes you 5 minutes in once instance and 5 minutes in another. If people are simply going to "farm other mobs," how does that translate into "more instances per hour?"
I don't think he/she was saying there would be more concurrent instances, just more instances being created in the same timeframe.
Whether that has any effect on server lag or not, I have no idea, so I'm not defending it as a valid argument. Just clarifying what I think the intent was. -
My eyes are going to explode.
It was worth it, though. Those are cool. -
I think this is the bug tracking system they use:
-
-
I think 999+ ratings and Hall of Fame status is probably enough to tell them it's being used.. and this is a technical term - "a lot."

If that's true I would bet it's not a bug. And yes, it is something that should be noted in the patch notes if it was intentional. Rezzers giving XP was not an exploit - it may have been taken advantage of, but it was working as intended and potentially affects any AE mission, not just farms. If they have changed the way it is intended to work, they would note it. They noted when they changed XP on Freakshow, or removed Rikti Comm officers and Fight Club monkeys (and that last one WAS an exploit) so I see no reason they wouldn't note this. They might not note it in the beta or test notes, but it should be in the live notes, based on past experience.

The point is that they WON'T be crafting common IO's.
-
Paragon didn't need that extra $100, Ultimus. You can send it to me instead. I take checks!
-
If the crafting table was account wide, then there would be a lot fewer people out there crafting like mad and dumping them on the market for cheap. That's what he meant.

I approve of this plan and will be keeping an eye out for any theaters in my area that will be showing it.

Quote:Pfft, you want desert terrain, we got Mars. The binary system is the far more interesting aspect.Boo! This planet is only like Tatooine in that it's in a binary system. I was thinking they had found a planet that they had been able to tell has some kind of desert terrain or somesuch. They really had to stretch to make some kind of Star Wars reference out of this.

The problem with CleverBot is that it doesn't appear to be doing much more than responding to what the user says in each line. It's not remembering previous lines of the current conversation and applying its learned conversations to them - just to the most recent line. So it can't really have a "conversation" so much as just respond to a single question or statement.

Submitted without comment:
Quote:User: So tell me about your first kiss.
Cleverbot: It was with a Spanish guy, and I liked it a lot.
User: What was his name.
Cleverbot: His name was Charles. He was my Grandpa.
User: The first person you kissed was your grandpa?
Cleverbot: Beth.
User: I thought it was Charles?
Cleverbot: My favourite food is definitely pizza.
User: Yeah, I know you like pizza.
Cleverbot: I'll have no use for it.
User: Except to eat it, you mean.
Cleverbot: Yes. I do mean that.
User: What do you mean?
Cleverbot: I do got a few somethings hidden away but they are so horrible that I don't think about them.
User: I would imagine one of them has something to do with kissing your grandpa Charles.
Cleverbot: I'm a real boy! -

And if we're allowing stuff that isn't scifi/fantasy, I'm playing the Sorkin card and nominating Sports Night and Studio 60.
Edit: Oh yeah, and Police Squad and the Ben Stiller Show, for laughs. -
You know what, I give up. You're right. The question wasn't asking about Incarnate powers at all. Posi's comment CLEARLY had nothing to do with Incarnate powers. I don't see how anyone could possibly think it did.
