Quote:How many merits did those Thunderstrikes cost? Did you buy them individually from the merit vendor? There's been a lot of constructive posts here. Try to remain constructive, I'm not going to respond to baiting posts like these last two.
I went and got the Thunderstrike set from the Merit Vendor in the Atlas Wentworth's, but don't have enough merits to get two sets, let alone three.
I had most of the necessary salvage already, and the stuff I needed to buy wasn't terribly expensive. Crafting them myself thus cost a total of about 6 million for the entire set. That stings, but I noticed a difference, even with only one set of them. I can imagine three sets will be very nice indeed.
Just a little update. -
Just socket them all into one attack power and fire that sucker off in Plank time.
-
When Capacitator reaches level 37 and has both Lightening Rod and Shield Charge fully slotted, you're going to be stupefied by how much damage you are doing to clusters of bad guys.

ABC:
In all seriousness, join channels 'JFA2010' and 'Justice United'. Even at odd hours, people are consistently looking for people for task forces. I played on Justice for years, mostly solo and pick-up groups until I found those channels and then a whole new world opened up. It's good stuff.
Don't forget, after you join the channel that you need to right click on your main chat window and add the channels to the text types shown. -
I liked this mission. I did it solo with an Ice/EM/Ice Blaster. Upon coming to that last room, I noticed Honoree there and thought "Something tells me that running in and just Blizzarding everything would be stupid." I was right.
I stopped for a half minute and peeked at the scene and did what made sense: I used ranged attacks to take down the front portals. Sadly, this got Holtz's attention and I got blown away. OK no problem, this is a Blaster and I'm used to it. Hosp trip, grab some purples, back to the action. I did the smart thing upon returning and seeing that Holtz had a LOT of friends: I shot him once and ran outta there to pull him far away. I are purples and took him down, going through maybe 8 purples to do it.
Honoree time: I are 4 purples and pulled him too. Ah nuts, he landed a hold. Oh WOW letting him wail on me was bad news. Hosp trip, more purples, back to the mission. OK this time I kept him at range (sadly, never using my Nem Staff, as I hear he is very KB prone) and wailed on him. He still got some hits in and it was close, but it worked.
Really, while this mission end is tricky, it's nothing that a tray of purples and pigheadedishness cannot solve. Just, for the love of Rularuu, don't try to solo him on your Emp/Psi Defender that didn't take any attacks and instead maxed out the Leadership and Medicine pools. Just ask four of the upteen million people standing in Ouroborous these days if they want to do the arc with you. Heck, you might even make a friend. -
Quote:I'm curious: What do you do with your salvage?Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis? I did.
I respecced her about a month ago, slotting in SOs and crafting generic IOs as they come along. She just got her Alpha slot tonight and got a single SO drop the entire arc. Science. Bleh. Got a couple IOs she couldn't use and no one was buying at WW. So I bought a whole bunch of IOs (you can always tell when I've been through the market because everything I buy ends in "117") and then sold them. Earned about 50k or so. Did the doppelganger arc with a friend, logged her out.
Because for me, the inf that I get for actually killing stuff often pales in comparison to what I get selling salvage on the market (and I don't mean listing everything at 1 and praying, I mean listing it close to the current values and coming back the next day). -

Quote:I'm sorry, I do try to be nice, but that's one of the most brainless things I think I've ever seen posted. You can't possibly think that if "balance improves"--whatever twisted thing you've convinced yourself to think that means--that when an exploit is found, a bunch of loser idiots won't milk it for all it's worth.
There are only two things that will keep people from using exploits as they're found: a carrot and a stick. The carrot we have now is the Bug Hunter badge. Personally, I think that they need to give it out a lot more often because right now due of its rarity, most people who don't have it already have resigned themselves to believing they'll never get it. The stick that they need to use far more often is to actively nuke the ill-gotten gains of players who use exploits, temp-ban the people who are creating these AE missions, and completely AE-ban people from creating missions who do it repeatedly.
Will there be outcry? Probably. Will there be ragequits? Yeah, also probably. But consider this. If the only condition under which a player will remain in the game is if they are allowed to exploit it with impunity, is this player good for the long-term health of the game? No. Ultimately, they will cause more damage than good, and they need to go. Meanwhile, the adults who aren't constantly looking for the next new way to screw the developers over, including the people who get slaps on the wrist and learn the concept of "don't do that," will be much happier.
I'd love to see GMs invisibly deployed to several of these zones and tuning into these global channel, and whenever anyone posts a message like, "LFMF" or "AE farm LFM," silence them for five or ten minutes. If they come back, give them a day or two temp-ban.
I know my jokes are bad, but I've never been called brainless over one!
Except maybe a zombie joke. -
The exploits will continue until balance improves.

So... pretty much unless I'm making the Inkpot Avenger, this power's completely stupid? Check.

Quote:This is what I'm speccing my sonic/mm to for i19. Only thing I don't have is the glad proc but that's just a matter of time.
**snip**
I like the capped ranged defense of that build (a lot), but I'm mostly focusing on having a solid attack chain made entirely of cone attacks.
It's a 'concept' character, maybe?
I hadn't thought of Bile Spray though. I might try that out.. -
So, I see that the Complete Going Rouge* is on sale for ten bucks after Turkey Day.
Among its features, I noted (*in addition to some make-up) the Shadowy Presence invisibility power. I pre-ordered GR back in the spring. How do I now get my mitts on this power without shelling out ten bucks for the Best Buy deal?
Though I will if it means I can apply the code for the sake of the power *and* a free month of play. Info anybody? -
Quote:Mental gives me a very good extra cone attack, though. Plus, while AR has Shotgun, Flamethrower is a DOT that takes a while to fully do it's damage. Plus, Drain Psyche - while forcing me into melee range to fire it - is so darn good that I'll happily trade it for Boost Range (Plus, it's good AV/GM debuff on a Blaster. A rare treat!). Psy Shockwave is there for those times when the bad guys won't stay in nice conic areas and insist on trying to punch me in the face. That's very rude behavior and they deserve the -recharge and chance for stun. Also, I like to team with Kinetics types, so as long as I am there getting a Fulcrum I may as well fire off a PBAOE, no?The main thing I'd comment on here is that if your primary purpose is a cone-based blaster then MM as a secondary doesn't fit. Drain Psyche and PS are both PBAoE so to use them you'll be in close, yet cones don't work to their full effectiveness in close. You can potentially do a Sirens Song, jump in, fire off DS, fore off PS then jump out, fire off your cones, but then you'd be jumping back in for PS. Seems like a lot of work.
If you really want a cones-based blaster, look at AR/EM. Lots of cones on AR and when paired with Boost Range it is a thing of beauty (longer range on cones means more is in the area of effect). I love mine - and it works equally well solo or on teams.
AR is good for aoe, don't get me wrong. Half the reason I went Sonic though is that I already have 3 AR characters and I wanted to try something a little different. Plus my battle cry can be "I scream cones!". -
You could also go hunt them in the woods facing the Arachnos base in Bloody Bay.
-
How do you see exactly what boosters have been applied to your account? As far as I can tell, I can only see the serial code and a fat lot of good that does me.
-
I'll size you up for your straightjacket order.
-
Oops, I forgot to toss in Inherent Fitness, but with Drain Psyche I really don't need it much. It'll be handy, but I'll only keep the one basic IO in each.
-
So, I'm going to fuss around with a Blaster focused on cone attacks. I'm thinking of the following slotting, with the goal of have an attack chain made of cone attacks and a few powers for utility purposes.Any advice or commentary would be great. I'm not going to put in any more purples though, as I don't want this to be a multi-billion inf build. Here goes:

Great stuff!!
Now if only you could have worked in a car chase... -
Heisenberg, I'm (slowly) leveling up a NW, and have him to 42 now. I think I'll try your build for sure, as it is pretty darn good and saves me a few billion (that's 'illion' with a capitol B) inf and as much as I like market PvP, I'd rather save the money. I'll hopefully be back here to report some time before too long.

I can see it now:
A new hero, fresh from the tutorial spots some Hellions pushing around an old lady. He runs up and yells his battle cry, only to get "HEY!! I'm robbin' here! What's your friggin' problem?!" -
