  1. A windows utility tool like the "Snipping tool" or a 3rd party screencapture application with it's own settings may actually be the cause of your problems.

I have an application like the snipping tool(so I've heard) for my Windows XP, it's default capture key is printscreen. If I accidentally leave it open and try to take a screenshot in CoH it will be handled and saved into the application's save directory instead of CoHs.
  2. I've been getting this a lot lately too, but it's calling the correct error in my case. I'm on a laptop from 2005 with 2gb of memory, I can't even run Titan Sentinel when I run trials now. I also have to play on minimum GFX for trials. I have a G15 keyboard I keep the performance monitor open on while I play coh, if I accidentally try to zone into Lambda in performance graphics I watch my RAM climb from 85%+ to 98/99 *memory fail error*.

One strange thing I noticed; my pc seems to use more RAM(not cpu use) when it's running hot, moving the room fan over to the laptop for trials lowers my RAM use every time .

I also already have the NCLauncher set to kill itself as soon as it opens my game(I still hate it. It's not one of those things I'm gonna get used to lol, it was done poorly and was a downgrade from what we had before but with tons of new problems(memory leak )).

No reason really to go balls out and invent something new.
My concept was tailored more towards the power customization than tailor, AE it's totally uncontrollable what powers the npc's choose to fire and how often. and I haven't messed with AE creating in ages, idk if powers are even customizable there.
  4. ah, ok. And nope dark wouldn't work .

While typing the suggestion thread linked in my Sig about testing toggle-graphics stacking I thought of something to try out; 7 colors in the rainbow, 3 fire armor toggles with a primary and secondary, I used the main 6 on this concept toon on beta and ran them at once, and my idea worked, and looks kinda amazing....a character surrounded by white flames, with different colors of the rainbow "peeking" out from the edges at various points. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple can all be picked out showing with all the toggles running .
  5. I just came up with a nice character idea that I tested on beta; a fire armor toon with the character defined by the color of her fire toggles, not her costume. Since it's beta and everything's free I threw in stealth and invis just to see how the toggles looked while invisible....it's pretty awesome.

I know for a melee character most people would say Invisibility is pointless, and the OAS factor is incredibly limiting for an AT that is usually survivable.

So; I was wondering if the opacity factor from the Stealth power would stack with a runspeed stealth proc to make her just as invisible looking as if Invisibility was running, or maybe even more so than that? (I know the stealth range will stack, my question is the actually opacity level of the character to the player's eyes)
  6. What if each tailor building had a door to the "back room"(or testing area) Where you zoned into a map with Targeting Dummy-style enemies, 10000% recharge to all your powers, and hyper accelerated endurance recovery, for the purpose of testing and viewing your power customization and costumes in the "real world"?

This room would have the ability to toggle the current tailor UI. However no Inf would be charged until you left the testing area(at which point the tailor UI would be brought up, outlining your changes and fees, allowing you to save your costume/powers etc.).

For environmental settings I was thinking a zone could be selected as a "skin" for your testing area; like Atlas Park(Day), Atlas Park(Night), Cap Au Diable, Nova Praetoria(Day), Nova Praetoria(Night). Several zones already have "instanced" versions for missions accessible via AE that could be used here.

The enemies would have to be human-shaped to properly test powers like fossilize/freeze ray, maybe a generic villaingroup, foes local to the zone you selected to test in, or some form of solid "hologram" to test on.

I was thinking the room would have to have private instances, like separate "missions" for separate people from the same door, to prevent people testing Dispersion Bubbles from corrupting the testing of a fire scrapper etc. Maybe if the devs had their own ideas for coding it an ability to invite a friend into your instance to give feedback as you change things (akin to an SG member standing in your SG base while you're editing it giving ideas/feedback).

Also an autopower applied to the zone to suppress Secondary Mutation/Mystic Fortune would be handy. Some form of Dampening Field would also have to be added to prevent people from Base/Market/Mission/Hosping out of the "zone" to escape the tailor charges, but not a standard Dampening Field, which may hinder testing of teleport-involving attacks.

Canon-wise this feature could be explained as Dr. Aeon sharing a fraction of the technology of his Architect Entertainment system with the tailors across Paragon and the Isles.

Here are some issues with the tailor this feature would fix. Most of these issues require several separate tailor sessions as a work around, as well as recharge times of the powers which is time consuming when all you want to do is get your customization the way you like it:
    • For a long time I haven't even been able to get the brightness button to do anything in the costume page of the tailor(only in the power tab does it seem to do anything), so redside my costumes are made in the dark for the most part.
    • Toggles in the power customization tab restart their animation so fast you have to watch it several times to decide if you like the customization you applied in the toggle's standard "on" state.
    • Separate Toggle powers' animations can't stack in the power customization tab(Hey I wonder what this stone tank would look like running all it's toggles at once colored this way..)
    • Wide range powers(like nukes and Incarnate Destiny, or even judgement) and to some extent powers like Hot Feet(2D) can't be accurately examined in the power customization tab either because even "zoomed out" the camera is caught in the blast(like secondary coloring of Judgement) or you can't view it from a better angle(Hot Feet/base of Ageless etc.)
When things are suggested in the forums I often see "It's too much work for the devs for a QoL feature" as a response. This would merely be an interior door of the tailor buildings(or just 1 per side even) being activated as a mission door. I think several tailor buildings already have an interior door with no purpose anyway, that's what sparked the idea. Maybe a condensed version of the AE mission creator interface to select your map and enemy from a computer or npc outside the door to set the "mission", and either a button inside the window from clicking the mission balloon(like testing an AE arc), or a popup(like the stat info of Incarnate Trials) with the button to display/toggle the tailor interface.

(To be clear no damage would be done, no defeats would give badge progress, no salvage or currency would drop. This would be purely an instanced map for better testing costumes/power customization.)

    Incarnate Surges

Maybe this could be added as an Interface tree(with WAY lower %s than the current trees). No base interface effect, but the chance to fire off your judgement destiny or lore(not affecting that powers recharge state, but 0% chance to fire if that incarnate power is still recharging)?

Kinda like *fires ball lightning* "WHOA "Ion Judgement Jump""

or *Inferno* "*Ageless Core Barrier procs* Cool"
  8. y'know what sounds perfect to me for buying character slots? Possibly accountwide? Empyrean Michael (Issue 20(.5): Incarnates Ascend Contact).

Maybe have one global option that maxes at 3(for a total of 8 non-EAT costumes for every character on the account), then 2 more that are character specific only unlockable for a higher amount of empyreans for your current (or a cert for another) level 50, giving a 50 with the max certificates redeemed and personal ones unlocked 10 costume slots.

    Feedback?
  9. Strange, I customize my quickchat contents, and have made a habit of " ' + S + N + 1" when I login to open the netgraph, and it worked just a couple hours ago. Have you changed any of your binds recently? I've never tried changing a bind from the window so I don't know what that does.
  10. Do you know if your proxy IP is international or a state far from your own? Judging by the symbols it listed as a warning it looks like a spam flag is being thrown at your message(since they're url symbols) ie: the server thinks your account coming from that location is spam/fraud(stolen account?) etc.

    Copy Tool Down?

Just logged out 3 times, and tried clearing my cache/cookies and it's saying the same thing
  12. Psychic Guardian

    Copy Tool Down?

A response to a support ticket said that was due to the forum maintenance, but now it lets me select server, and character, and clicking either Public Test Server or Beta Server causes it to say "The character name you provided is invalid."

    Copy Tool Down?

When I select a sever I get "the selected service is currently unavailable"..I wonder if it has to do with the forum maintenance this afternoon?

They messed with Reactive in yesterday's patch?? I still don't see any patchnotes available, so I don't have a clue what they did.

Yeah, the app is great, I just mean the firefox plugin.
  16. I'd try running "Firefox (Safe Mode)" from your start menu to disable all plugins and test it before re-installing the whole thing. Lots of people add plugins because they do awesome things, and then ya find one that accidentally bugs a core component of the browser haha.

If you have skype installed on your computer disabling that plugin tends to be a must; it tends to break things last I heard, and it's only really useful for people with a subscription to landline calling anyway.

NOTE: this is likely due to a data mismatch between the client and the server.
I'm certainly not the best helper in the techforum, but have you tried having the NCSoft Launcher "Repair" City of Heroes? Repair, and/or adding the -verify flag to your "extra command line parameters" under Properties of CoH might easily fix this problem.

A Client/Server problem usually means for whatever reason one of your CoH files didn't correctly update with a recent patch, and now whenever the game uses it it has problems because it no longer does what it's supposed to.
  18. I have the "exit crash" too, I think a huge portion of the playerbase does. Last I heard the devs were publicly ignoring it, probably until they can tell us they figured out what they're gonna change to fix it.
  19. Uninstalling, restarting my PC, downloading the launcher from ncsoft and re-installing allowed the Repair function to execute properly again. I can't figure out why though.
  20. CoH and CoV are now one game(have been for awhile actually). You can modify a shortcut to your installation of CoH to display the CoV splash screen, and login and play your villains...or just login with the gold/blue splash screen and login a villain.

    Brain Lag O.o ?

lol. But I do have something to contribute besides that! You can also try /showfps 1, it'll show your fps next to your health, movement lag usually displays as 1-7ish fps, that could prove you're not crazy
  22. I've been getting those crashes too. Yesterday I was standing at the black market and it popped up, something about female gloves. I was on a male toon with no other characters even in view lol.

    Input Lag?

I don't have any idea how good of a gfx card that is, but I get something like "input lag" when I turn my shader settings up too high. Everything looks fine standing still, then I try to move and the card has to update the screen and it lags before I move(and usually throws a yellow spike on the netgraph if you try that).
  24. I ended up making the widow before the Dominator; Psychic Indignation. The options from this thread helped me think of things to feed thesaurus.com, and I liked the ring of that name. Someone actually saw him yesterday and stopped to say they liked the name, so that was cool .

I made the widow awhile ago, but was too lazy to update the thread lol. PG was actually fun with claws, I had to re-work his mid's plan a little because of it haha.

Now when I make the Dom I'll have to delete somebody or buy more slots lol
  25. #3 is a very cool idea I can see the devs doing, and #2 is a system I enjoy playing and would also like to see expanded upon somehow
