Well, depending on where you are in the US. There's been some problems.
I've been having west coast connection issues myself. But I'm in Florida and have been having some major weather lately.
Whenever it rains as hard as it has been here lately, I end up with massive packet loss connecting to West Coast servers, but not East Coast servers, go figure..... -
There is that, however. There is also the fact of community relations. The reason I bring this up and complain is cause if I'm gonna gripe, moan and groan about it then elsewhere you KNOW there are people really flipping out about it.
And before you answer that with a 'who cares, let em flip out'
I care.
AND I WUV U TUU! -
Heh, good one Demobot.
If it was a emergency maintenence then they shouldnt have put a announcement out saying that information would be found here on the forums, and then give us nothing. -
Well, it's all over the game with a admin post saying that the game is coming down for maintenence and that the reasons would be given on the forums here.
But there are no red name posts, dev or otherwise. So.....what gives? -
Arc Name:A matter of honor
Arc ID:81347
Morality:Heroic
Faction:All custom groups
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Protonic Flux
Difficulty Level:Medium to high levels 1 to 54
Synopsis:A powerful and dark villain from the Rogue Isles has contacted you personally. She wants to destroy you, and to challenge not only everything that you believe in, but the very fiber of your character. Are you ready to put this foul being in her place? -
Posi, if you guys make that text based MMO, I'll pay for it on top of my normal CoX subscription.
Reminds me of playing Rakka-Tu on my Apple IIe
You guys may also want to look into making a CoH game for the Atari 2600. -
Just when is soon?
Today? Tomorrow? Next month? -

Me wants!
Heh, sorry. Was really hoping to come home today and find out the I14 beta had opened to the public. -
OK! I managed to get a hold of someone today (9/9/08 at 5:26 1726 military time) And she said they hadn't recieved anything in some time. Cimmeron is a he. (Didnt know if that was widely known or not) He had to go into the vet for some work done and they found it out there..... I'll be getting them a check this week myself. It wont be much. But it will be in name of the City of Heroes Protector Forum. I hope alot of others read this and jump on the bandwagon. I wont try to give any speeches or anything like that, I'm just no damn good at it. But I hope people are still hitting on this.
-
Well, I tried calling that number at 5:41 EST (better known at 1741 military time) And all I got was a request to send a fax or call again later. As I am forgetful, I will leave myself a note on the door of my home so when I get here tomorrow at 1500 hours or so I know to call right away. My little Cimarron (Two sox, my cat) will likely never forgive me if I dont.
-
Ugh, really not liking the 54 month vet rewards. Expecially since we cannot re pick a power we picked earlier. So, basicly the 54 month reward is the power we didnt want at 12 months or 33 months....

Do not like the animation changes to widows. Please put them back pre patch.
I do not need 3 attacks with pretty much the same animation. -

The villian respec is extremely annoying.
and tedious, did I mention its tedious.
Orenbanga is not fun, never has been.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. I had already decided that the Villain-side Respec Trial isn't worth the aggravation to ever do again. This just seals the deal.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ugh, if that's the case. Maybe we should be suggesting to the devs that it gets looked at. I myself have only done it 3 or 4 times with different villains. But it never truely bothered me that much. Now the hero respect is a different story. Not that I hate it, quite the opposite. By the final wave in the reactor I'm ready to bum rush any mob that enters the area. -

under lvl 6 is kinda lame how about:
Inactive account 90 days toons under 10
Inactive account 1 year toons under 30
Inactive account 2+ years nothing is safe
also any account inactive for a year that wasn't active for more than 3 months sould also not have safe names.
[/ QUOTE ]
I understand the need to free up names , but I'm with Ex and company on this one.
One particular reason is simply this: our fighting men and women stationed overseas. I know several of them (at least) that LOVE City of Heroes, and have characters ranging the full level spectrum. If someone is called away/deployed, more than likely, they are going to shut down their account for the duration of their duty overseas, since they will not have access to play in such places as Iraq or Afghanistan (plus that vaunted poverty level pay scale the military has doesn't help one's budget while deployed). So imagine their surprise when they return home, as many have after 14 months of extended duty to find their favorite characters names taken from them. I'm sure they could live with the level 5 and belows being gone, but anything above that I think should be available.
The other reason is some folks don't powerlevel their characters, and take their time developing their characters. Of those, and I'm sure many forum readers are in the "been ther/lived that" situation, where there just aren't enough dollars in one's bank account to maintain the "entertainment" category that CoH/V is, and instead, cut it off until they can get their finances in order. My impression is that many die-hard CoH/V players are in this category, living pay check to pay check (or are students, sraping by on the ever-cheap Ramen), and I'm sure they'd be more pleased with Ex and company's plan than your suggestion.
I know you are thinking of the players, and I applaud that. There are other folks out there in our community, however, that we have to keep in mind, and our military men and women, are amongst them.
Again, I think Ex has hit the nail on the head. Cudos, Ex!

Have to agree with Major_Deej here. There are ALOT of our people overseas right now, that do not have access to CoH. Some have been gone for as long as 2 to 3 years already. Going without seeing the significant other for such a length of time is one thing....but without knowing their hero or villain names are safe? Insane!! -
First of all, I am looking forward to kicking a little Rikti <censored>
The voice just did seem a little off. But you know what would be kinda cool? Have one of the I10 videos giving things from Recluses' point of view.
I cant quite understand why Recluse would have his "chosen" help the heroes of Paragon City now. Granted he might be in a much better position of power now then when the first Rikti invasion happend. But it seems very much against his nature to open a helping hand to Paragon City. I know both the Rogue Isles and Paragon City are getting invaded. But Recluse is a mastermind and a meglomaniac, they dont really know fear and arnt known for asking for help unless there is a ulterior motive.
And no, I dont think death is enough of a motivator. Recluse can always go to ground if things get too bad. He has proven time and again that when the going gets tough, he gets going. -
This just once again goes to show how quickly and easily people can jump off of the deep end. Including City of Heroes and Statesman's image (The hero in this game who has gone thru the most tragety and diversity as well as turning his life around from criminal roots (Which arnt shown in the game)) along with games like Hitman and several militaristic types of games is just baffling.
That's like putting together a video about the most horrible and evil men in civilization, including pictures of Ted Bundy, other serial killers, Adopt Hilter, and Abraham Lincoln. It just doesnt fit. It only goes to show that the makers of that video honestly have little clue about what they are talking about.
I for one think that Cryptic, NCsoft, and Jack himself have excellent cause to sue to get this corrected. This is nothing short of slander against a game that may have violence in it. But has also gone out of it's way to regulate the image it puts forth.
Even on the villain side we do not kill people. we defeat them. Now what defeat means is left to the imagination of each and every person who plays the game. With a little thought you can make up your own reasoning that any advanced socety that can put up the war walls and have a instant teleportation system for when you get defeated (Once again, you dont get killed. Death is pretty final) can just as easily have the same system for when NPCs are defeated.
I for one imagine they are teleported away to the police station (Which is a HUGE building) are healed and recovered from injurys. And get a 15 second trial before spending 3 minutes in the Ziggi and escaping to get back on the streets (LOL) Death doesnt factor into that anywhere.
There is also no blood in the game, anywhere. It's been asked for by the playerbase and the devs have flat out said NO.
So this video is pure crap put out by uninformed people who are overexaggerating about a problem that may or may not exist. I still think that NCsoft/PlayNC should give them a good reaming about the use of Statesman's image. -
Gotta tell ya. I love to see this game get any publicity it can get. But dont you get the slight feeling that the person doing the reporting is pro NCSoft? I'm sure World of Borecraft (Warcraft) has it's own events going. And I know MxO does too, since I play that game to remind me how lucky I am that CoX exists. lol

Interestingly, while researching this problem, I discovered that Gauntlet from pool powers like Boxing or Air Superiority have, apparently, never worked. That'll be fixed as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, that confirms a long-standing belief of mine. Back when Gauntlet was first introduced, you'd see little "Miss" text occasionally floating above the heads of nearby foes when you were using your Tanker attacks, and we assumed this was the Gauntlet effect missing.
We never, ever saw the "Miss" indicators when using pool attacks, so I assumed Gauntlet never worked on pool attacks. I had even posted my observations, but I was told I was wrong because the devs said it worked with pools too.
Then the "Miss" messages were removed in a later patch, so I forgot about it.

Can't we get Red Caps in there somehow?
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering that there is always a en masse of Red Caps when they attack you. How about 12 Red Caps a stabbin?
And signed. I for one would love to hear our Dev Overlords singing a twisted version of the 12 days of CoX for us. -
I cannot stress enough the importance of the storyline in CoX for me. That's why I have been so upset about the lack of advancement in the next CoH book, the Rikti War. Without the history and storyline of CoH and CoV. This is just another static MMO.
Story story story. Pweeze. And give us more Statesman. We gotta figure out why he went from the reductant idealist in the book to the jerk we see in the comics now.
