    CoV Box

If any of those are the collector's edition, at least you'll have a new cape!
  2. ...on a note, have you ever played X-COM: Terror from the Deep? Your character really looks like an Aquanaut.

That would be a good name while we're at it.

    Council
    Arachnos
    Longbow
    Malta
    Knives of Artemis
    Cimerorans

So you start off with people using guns and knives, progress into mutants and aliens, and end up fighting people with guns and knives. And those are the most threatening units in the game!

I giggle at the idea of Superman fighting Romans, and losing.
It makes more sense when you consider the Malta, Knives and such as villain equivalents of Batman.

As for the Cimerorans, a little of that plus 'a wizard did it'. Given the area's apparent connection to the game backstory, plus the presence of Freedom Phalanx analogues for no explained reason, I like to think that the true Origin they have is Incarnate.
  4. Decreasing the power's recharge is basically the same thing.
  5. I gotta wonder, does the power require players for a boost, or does any allied unit (pets, friendlies, etc) count for a bonus?
  6. Not sure if it's a lack of settings, or just really making sure people can't do botting, whether with macros, a bunch of drinky birds at the keys, whatever.
  7. Since you've got 50s, you could always try a Kheldian. They're very different.
  8. Although the Soldiers of Arachnos are unique in that they have branching powersets- you get a certain selection of powers up to level 24, then you're forced to respec and can choose one of two additional powersets, which effects the type of character you make.

  10. Steel sounds like it might be a bit hard for this, though it depends on what route you take.

Dude, two words: Skyway City. That place is crazy parkour heaven.
  11. Lucky 7!

Interesting to see SWG at #2. I think it could also be an example of how a massively popular IP is not at all a guarantee of success, but then again, in the MMO world that's a given. Regular licensed games only have to be bought once by parents and kids who don't know any better, but a MMO has to keep people coming back.
  12. I don't think you'd ever see anything like that definition of 'alpha class' in the game, it's well balanced already and that would go against the entire grain.
  13. The only disappointment is a lack of me incoherently yelling about fox tails.
  14. Both vampires and angels could be darn near anything, and yes with overlap. Using particular definitions might be more specific:

A Warhammer style vampire could be a Necro/Dark Mastermind, though not as tough as they are on the tabletop.
More traditional types, Nosferatu style, could be a Dark Melee/Dark Armour, as a Scrapper, Tanker or Brute depending on preference.
Warshades are basically vampire alien symbiotes.
And because we're all thinking it: Twilight vamps are Super Strength/Invuln with the Speed power pool and classic power effects.

Does Fallout need to target a body? Because SD doesn't leave any, though most people don't know that you can still pass wakies through the 'give to player' menu.

Howling Twilight and other non-target powers work fine though.
  16. What about that Pacific island with all the snakes?

We have enough snakes as is.

Founders Falls changes all that, when you look at it for the first time. That zone shows a lot of flavor that does seem to capture a more old-world look or at least an older american city feel.

The entire feel of the COV zones is very different, and though I could poke lots and lots of holes in the layouts of their streets and buildings (like ... trucks backed into a space and there's a fence not 3 feet from their front end? how'd it get there?) it feels more realistic and very old-worldish. Not like, so old-world to look truly european, but not modern particularly, and that's nice, because half of it is rubble anyway so it all looks like a very worn, war-torn area.
Well, I think it's implied that most of suburban Paragon is outside the War Walls, while the zones we can access are the important districts; Steel Canyon is the downtown metropolitan centre, King's Row is a mainly industrial area (hence all the crime), Founder's Falls is pretty much stated to be the high-class living area, and so on.

While the Rogue Isles seems fitting, given that it's meant to be a disputed region with a long and bloody history of violence and corruption. And of course, half of the buildings are straight out of The World Of Tomorrow, contrasting greatly with the rest of the Isles.
  18. So, any architecture buffs in the thread- what do you think the inspiration for Paragon's design is? I hear it seems strange, but I have no idea how.
  19. That's just Brutalist design, not really what I see in Paragon. Maybe some parts of the Rogue Isles.

  21. The problem people often have with SD is usually that it tends to miss a lot, because the accuracy is base. But due to the way accuracy works, just hitting Build Up, Aim or popping a yellow or two will greatly help.
  22. Well, they could easily play with semantics. Magic and Science were specifically origin references, while Cyborg and Ninja are more specific. That does leave things open for specific 'Technology' and 'Natural' packs down the line.

Mind you, I have a feeling that they didn't decide on the origin theming until after the Cyborg pack was out.
