Quote:ThisAnyways, I would just love to have the Path Auras be separate. Kind of gets annoying having to have one costume dedicated to the Fiery Path Aura for flying/running around, and the other costume dedicated to the Bioplasma aura for combat.
I love me some of those path auras, but I always find myself thinking "darn, I wish I could stack some other Aura with this" lol -
My quandary is this;
I love the two new powers in Dark Affinity.. But I also love Fearsome Stare on my Defenders/Corruptors..
I'd happily swap out Petrifying Gaze for either Fade or Soul Absorption, but parting ways with FS is a different story..
I would personally rather have Soul Absorption, as I find myself wishing for more End on my darkies more often than some more defense.. Though the Def Debuff Resists in Fade is oh so nice. (Seriously, isn't that the only team-Def buff in the game that also comes with Def Debuff Resistance?)
So what I'm getting at, turning DM into DAF is probably a bad idea. Lots of people love Fearsome Stare (Its not missed on Troller's as much, for obvious reasons). -
Quote:Well the game could probably do a check to see if someone "rocking the Aura" is actually healing anybody. If they are, then allow the inherent to 'proc'. So it would only 'proc' off of Healing Aura if it heals someone who actually was damaged.Milady's Knight - your idea of using your primary powers suffers the same problem. How do you differentiate the spamming of shields or rocking the aura from legitimate use of primary powers? I guess the maximum number of stacks help, but its still going to lead to some power spamming between fights.
I'm fairly sure the game can distinguish between pointless ("Over Healing") and actual healing. Don't the healing badges require you to heal up actual damage for example?
Could also just introduce a "PPM" mechanic to the inherent. So the +RCH buff only "procs" a maximum of once every 30 seconds or something, stacks up to X amount. So while they might be rocking the aura, it won't give them an advantage over someone not rocking the aura, and solves the shield spam issue too. Sure some sets might have an easier time "tapping" the inherent, but that is hardly unique to defenders.
*shrug* just my 2 inf. -
Because I don't appreciate the hostility that it creates...
If I wanted to play along side a bunch of hot-headed, self-centered jerks, then I'd be playing that other MMO...
(Not calling all PvPers that, mind you, but it does seem to attract a lot of those type of folks)
One reason I play this game is because it has a relatively kind, laid back, and helpful player base.. But once you step foot into a PvP zone that all goes down the toilet. -
Quote:I've been saying it for years, if the Star Trek "Holo Suite/Deck" ever comes to fruition, its gonna be the Japanese who invent it..Not surprisingly the Japanese have been at the forefront of many of these particular "innovations".
We all know what 95% of the usage of those things would be lol. (Adult-Rated Halo Suites are actually mentioned in DS9 if I'm not mistaken) -
Wow, that seemed rather quick, they must be working overtime!
-
Well, if the person is left handed I could see that working. Sounds kinda awkward if one is right handed though.
Once again falls into that "to each their own" catagory haha.
But all in all I dont understand why Ninja Run can't stack with CJ. I'm guessing the devs just weren't comfortable with giving it even more ability to replace grabbing a true travel power. -
Quote:Tho apparently its really popular as seen in the what power pools do you take thread. So to each their own i guess.
It's one of those powers that can benefit you in several minute ways, and I almost always pick it up..
It's useful for when building towards the defense cap, sure it doesn't provide a stellar amount of defense, but 2-3% can make a large difference once you get closer to the cap.
My squishies love it for the Immobilize protection, as well as an easy slot for KB protection IO.
An easy mule for LotG - 7.5% Recharge, a useable mule with benefits at that!
The Jumping speed/control lets you maneuver around during battle much easier for positioning purposes. Granted this is more helpful to some builds/players than others. The jumping boost also lets you "Bunny Hop" around which is usually enough to keep up with the team.
The End cost to run it is practically non-existent.
For my squishies I usually end up 2 slotting it, 1 LotG and 1 KB protection, toss in a LotG Defense IO in there if I'm building for the soft cap.
So, for one power and 2 allocated slots we get; (assuming 2 slotted LotG, and KB protection)
3~% Defense
7.5% Global recharge
10% Regen
Immob Protection
KB Protection
Better in-battle Maneuvering
Virtually no END cost
Not too shabby if you ask me. -

Quote:There are genuinely underperforming sets out there that could use help. But the devs rarely make drastic, massive changes to established sets- they tinker, they fiddle, they tweak, improving things over time.
Indeed.. A certain other company who runs a well known MMO tend to do the "Drastic change routine". The results are generally pretty.. Cataclysmic *wink wink* at times, with massive power shifts between uber and gimpy. -
I'd wager there would be some sort of Rech debuff associated with it, that seems to be a common theme amongst Psionic powers.
Maybe a modified version of World of Confusion as the taunt aura. -
I think the devs are kind of shooting themselves in the foot with some of these new zones.
Making lovely new zones, but then filling them with annoying mobs that a lot of people would rather not fight just seems like bad logic.
Now I've never actually run First Ward, but I've talked to a few people who have, and they all said pretty much the same thing. "Nice zone, but annoying mobs, only ran through there once to see what it's like and won't go back".
That was my main issue with Praetoria. I felt like I was fighting mobs which were designed to be fought in the 30s, not in the early teens.. -
Quote:Ahh that's a shame..Over the term of your time unfortunately.
Although if you buy a chunk of points you get all the tokens right away, which is what let me pick up the two current VIP sets.
I too just resorted to buying a chunk of Paragon Points, because I was unsure about long-term subs question.
Not like it was a waste of money though, got some nice costume bits, and a few powersets out of the paragon points hehe. -
Quote:I was in a similar position, but mid way in Tier8.Or willing to shell out.
I bought my way out of Tier 7 right up to Tier 9. It actually wasn't that bad a decision, I shouldn't need to spend any more money on the game for another year.
This seems like a good time to ask, as I couldn't get any positive answer from their FAQ page.
If you buy a chunk of time, lets say a 12 month sub, do they front load all your Reward Tokens, as in do you get all 12 up front, or do they still hand them out on a monthly basis? -
Quote:Ahh I see, so that might be why ragdolls seem to "spaz" out a lot more than they used too..They're not doing it now. Shoot a rifle and watch your shell casings slowly float up into the sky, ignoring collisions along the way. I 21, I believe, had an "upgrade" for ragdolls which broke them and particle physics and they haven't been fixed as far as I can tell.
I recently took down a Freak Boss, and he rolled down a slope of stairs.. Once he hit the button his legs, arms, and head started spinning in circles and spazzing out. It was like those silly videos people make using Gary's Mod lol. -
Quote:Brute's Gauntlet is a single target taunt effect on the target they are attacking, where a Tanker gets an AoE version (think it effects 5 foes, including the target)I was thinking the same thing as you, but I notice that tanks get Gauntlet which gives all their attacks an inherent (AoE?) taunt. I know Brutes get inherent taunt in their attacks, too - but is gauntlet's a higher mag? Or is it an AoE inherent taunt on a tanker, but a Single Target inherent taunt on a brute?
From the little time I've spent playing tanks and brutes (I normally play all the other AT's lol...) it seems like it takes less effort to hold large groups attention on a tanker than a brute, and this is even without having picked up Taunt on either AT.
The power Taunt is virtually identical iirc.
The key lies in the Taunt auras though, which are also pretty much identical on a taunt basis, though the Brute will end up doing more damage with their version of Blazing Aura.
If your worried about having taunt issues on the Brute, don't be. The difference is marginal at best in the grand scheme of things. Most of it lies with you, the player, and your build. The reason Tankers generally hold hate better is because the *player* decides to mentally focus on holding hate more, and build for it, while most Brutes build/play for maximizing their damage. -

+Absorb? That's interesting. Is there anything like that currently in-game?
-Edit
Just noticed these have a Min level requirement of 47, yikes! -
Quote:If it has any sort of mez protection, like along the lines of what we find in the Psionic APP for Controllers, I think I will squeal in excitement.I find this interresting.
The fact that it must be purchased in the Paragon Market doesn't bother me, as it'll likely be a one shot deal.
However what sort of socery. If it's Magical Blasts in the vein of Rune Blast, I can see people picking it up, if it's a staff based set, I can imagine many who say they want it, skipping it in the end (people hate redraw and they want their builds as maxed as possible...general statement, so no need to go "No I don't")
And what do these abilities do? My guess so far (not in any order)...
ST Blast
ST Immobilize
Hold
Heal Other
PBAOE Heal
Just my guess on this.
But some sort of holds/control seem likely, as they are blatantly missing in the current Power Pools, unless you count fear. -
I'm generally either Natural or Tech.
But I do make Mutants from time to time. -
Here's my UI.
Pretty vanilla really xD
I use a combo of Num, Ctrl-Num, and Alt-Num to use different powers. My primary bar uses 1 through 0, my Alt bar pops up when I press alt, and it uses Alt+1 through 0, same for my Ctrl bar but with the Ctrl key instead.
I also use various keys on my keyboard. Q, E, T, and F are common, G is my "goto" macro for Masterminds.
If needed I'll set up Alt/Ctrl + Q, E, T, or F
I don't like tiny UIs, and I'm running at 1920 x 1080, so I scaled it up to like 150 or something lol. -
-
Gotta admit, watching Darth Vader dance was pretty amusing.
-
Aye, being able to enter some sort of "Floating Camera Mode", where you have more direct control of the camera, would be cool.
It really is a pain to get good screenshots of your character in-game. -
awww so no AV then it seems, aww well.
Woulda been fun too lol.
