Whirlwind Blade enjoys a drink after a long night of Rikti-killing and learning the Jedi's super-secret inverted lightsaber style. -
I'll be at 62 months in a couple of weeks.
It really doesn't matter to me to be in beta, frankly I'll probably just make characters, play a bit, then stay out til Live. A few hours if that. If I could hand off my priviledged access to someone else who's one of those play-hard types, I would. -
Sadly, my planned dinosaur Jesus looks bad squished to 100x100, and any cropping would lose flavor.
is my face.

Quote:This Georgia (US) player does not find it offensive in the slightest, and in fact has never known anyone who would, especially coming from someone English or Australian. Obviously I can't speak for the whole region, but if someone DOES find that offensive, no matter who's saying it, I'd be interested in hearing about it myself. Now, southerners have in the past called northerners Yankees, but I've only ever heard it used insultingly by the very old, and even then it's been many years.Yes there have been jokes and possibly a friendly little dig here and there, hell even I'm guilty of doing that right back at the NA community, refering them to Yanks on occasions which if I remember correctly people in the south of America find pretty offensive
Personally I don't care much to have an EU Lounge. To me it fosters a sense of "us and them", and I've long wondered why there's any separation at all. People are mostly the same all over the world when it comes down to it, certainly when there's an over-arching subject on a forum. The German and French communities having a language-specific forum I can see for practicality, and the EU (and NA) servers obviously would contain info that pertains to that server. Mostly though it's just people BSing over topic du jour. -
4.42. I go on sprees where I post a lot, then I'll get in a huff about something and stay away a week or so.

That "Defeat the Sea Witch" one is really close. It's either not bad (at times a cakewalk) or an incredible ordeal, and it seems really random which.
However, I'm going with anything from Efficiency Expert...Pither, is his name? Why do I always get the enormous multi-level multi-elevator map the very first bloody mission? I've pathetically failed that guy twice now, it just made me frustrated as all hell. -

Quote:I haven't really interpreted this thread as having any animosity to it. It's more like shaking our heads in bemusement at how people can speak essentially the same language yet eventually one will say, "Wait, what'd you say?" Happens within the same country even: people from Minnesota and Georgia are liable to boggle at the other, and I'm led to believe people from the south of England have differences from the north. And really, is it that big of a deal that we spell or pronounce things differently? Or are some people just looking for ways to keep these forums "Us vs. Them"?
Fans of language (such as myself) usually find such discussions very interesting. Same reason I've occasionally bought the imported (UK) version of magazines like Stuff, or gone looking for overseas commercials on YouTube.
Btw, I say "y'all" a lot more than I have a reason to type it. Oh, the southern dialect, how much has been written. Consider the following sentence: "Dang gnats 'bout to tote me off!" "My goodness, how aggressive these pesky little black flies are today!" -
Quote:Never fear, you are not alone in your facepalming. This very-Southern very-American has cringed mightily in the grocery store at hearing someone ask where the "Wor-ches-ter-shire" sauce might be found. This is true, what you Americans have done to the English language is terrible, you've butchered it beyond all recognition.
I distinctly remember shouting at Americans while riding on a tube train in London because for some reason pronouncing leicester (Less-Ter) square as Lie-chest-er really drove me mad.
Admittedly the rest of the train laughed and applauded, I probably should feel bad about it but why, oh why, do you lot have one of your many accents where everything ends in a question, IT MAKES ME WANT TO STRANGLE YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!
For some reason the Australia accent that does the same bizzarely has no effect on me. -
You know, people make jokes about "pip-pip" and "Old Blighty" and "fancy a spot o' tea, guv?", but the real difference between English and...English, is one simple word: "whilst". Use that, and you're officially gone to the EUians.
-
Aww, and I can recall a time when your avatar was just announcing the upcoming wedding. The time it flies.

After clicking English (etc.) and you have the page listing everything, bookmark that page rather than the main one. These forums do not save your settings the same way as the others.
-
att.net is still boycotting your site, Rachel. It saddens me. And I can't surf at work anymore so no luck there. (Entirely unrelated, that.)
I surfed the Aion forums, honestly. I checked out the Twitter page but it's pretty darn obvious some people have far more time than I do to refresh it. Played some CoH, some Sacred 2. Mostly I worked and slept. -
I can't find any evidence of an EU Primal either. Odd. Could be I just don't know how to search for it properly.
Thanks Ocho. -
Quote:Click English to open it all up to your liking, then Bookmark that instead of the "main" page. Suggested in another thread, and it works, I just tried it myself. Of course, if you don't use bookmarks this won't help much, sad to say.This. Having to click "english" each time is unintuitive. The new
board design is a little claustrophobic as it is, but transition would
be friendlier with a way to just go straight to the expected format.
If the board software can't auto-detect region, then an option for
it in user prefs would be nice. -
My selective blindness strikes again. Completely missed that sentence. Thanks Niviene.
-
Um, am I stuck with this _NA tag on my name forever? I couldn't find a Primal EU side, but maybe there was one hiding. I've seen other names with the same ending, and a few _EUs too. Is there official word? I'm digging now.

What surprises me is that this is actually a business. I mean, wtf?

You know those emails you get about Nigerian royalty driven from the country and needing your help to transfer millions? Can you guess why those emails keep getting sent? Yes, there really are people out there who are that stupid. Every so often, one of them ends up in the news.
The kind of mentality that would buy an account off EBay is the same sort of person who would go to an RMT site.

I think that the funniest part is that the Nigerian scam pre-dates e-mail, and was actually accomplished with pen and paper back in the day.

REALLY??? i never knew that, that's kinda....... awesome

Back in the day? Heh, my office got a nice official-looking fax with a very similar scam going just a couple of months ago. The chorus had changed to Malaysia but the verses were all the same. -
I don't think you know Luminara. If she CAN stick TA with something, she will. She probably has three A/TA concepts, builds, the works, lined up already in addition to these.
...And actually, no, I don't know Luminara's female. When I don't know, I assign, usually female, out of wishful thinking if nothing else. In this case I always hear her posts in the voice of SHODAN. But anyway. A big fan of the sticks a-pointy, is Luminara. -
_Cai_'s avatar was arousing at first, but has since become creepy. It might loop back around again to arousing, but I won't admit it when it does. If it does.
<--- I'm sad that no one has ever asked me if I've completed a successful pacifist run. The answer is no. I inevitably get mad and kick something that then dies. And I've only found one poster. -
Things in CHV that sound dirty, but (probably) aren't:
- "Hold on tight, I'm coming!"
- "Careful, Carnies can really suck!"
- "Hey, you through with that Madam yet?" "I'm really close to finishing her off!"
- "Man, I need Stamina, I just peter out too quick."
- "I hear ya, I had to rest after that Dark Ring Mistress went down."
- "I was beginning to think we'd all wind up face down!"
- "Thankfully I was able to finish her off with a Power Thrust."
- "Hey, I told you we all needed to pull. Remember when I said 'I"ll use my wand on her'"?
- "Nah, pulling is for wimps, just get in there and everyone start swinging."
- "Okay, this is it. Let's make that final push."
- "Well, at least we should send the Stalker into the next spawn first. We need to get her from behind."
-"Yeah, you distract her while I touch the glowy! F7!" -
Thanks bunches, ZI, you've addressed my main concern with the new MA animations, which was if you had to go totally Punches or Kicks, or could mix 'n' match. I presume from this we can mix them up, which is pretty darn awesome. I can tell right now I'll be spending way too much time changing stuff to see how sweet-looking a combo I can make.

It bothers me that there are no, and sadly seemingly no plans for, Clown MMs. It's such an obvious set. Or just Circus MMs, with Clown Tier-1s. It makes me very

Then you totally misspelled it. The correct response would've been "AFK TAIL".

About 5 seconds ago someone typed
AFK HEAD
So... um... I typed AFK TAILS?

Funny response, but I'm hazarding a guess that the "head" they were referring to is the restroom. In the Navy, maybe.
