Quote:I tried a 60 day game card last week, and it did not work.Buy a copy of a game version that you don't already own and use the serial code. It'll upgrade you back to VIP status. (it must be a version of the game you've never entered a code for. 2 different codes from the same game version will NOT work)
City of Heroes
Collector's Edition
City of Villains
Good Versus Evil Edition
Architect Edition
Going Rogue
I got Rogue from Amazon for $7.
Alternatively you can also use an NC gamecard, if you can find one. -
Quote:Before you uninstall, consider that the reason for NCsoft's silence is due to the fact that even they don't know what the next few months has in store for CoX. We've heard that there are a few people like the Devs and TonyV trying to talk to them about it(and maybe even another company for all we know!). Give it a few more weeks before you throw in the towel.Sad to say, but it's become apparent that this is NCSoft's preferred approach to dealing with this issue. I've written off my remaining sub time as lost. I never wanted a refund for my remaining points, but they can have that too.
Since it seems that NCSoft isn't doing anything to see the game off, I'm getting close to uninstalling. Hate looking at their logo now. -
I've been playing every single night- because I want to. I'll never be able to play CoX again, so I'm making the most out of the time that we have.
I've been teaming a lot, running a variety of radio/paper teams and TFs. I have two characters in the low-mid 40s that I definitely plan to get to 50 before the apocalypse. -
Quote:I had previously activated a serial code from the CoV:CE, so that would probably account for it.Don't know why the time card didn't work, but I know why the original CoH didn't work: It never gave extra game time if you already 'purchased' CoH through other means such as through the CE:CoH code. However, it worked the other way... if you first had the original CoH, then the CE:CoH code would give you extra game time.
Other than *time card*, I wonder if a *game card* would work.
How about a *game time card*? -
No go. Last Saturday, I tried to activate both the serial number from an original 2004 copy of CoH, and an NCsoft 60 day time card. Neither went through.

Thanks! This means a lot to all of us.

I could use a LotG 7.5% as well to @Blackmoor. Thank you in advance.
-
Yes, please!
Since NCsoft won't willingly take my money in these last days, please allow me to say a proper goodbye to all of my characters. I never bought Time Manipulation, and would really like to play a couple of my favorites before all is said and done.
It costs you nothing to at least give me that. -
In case you didn't know, Mender Silos is actually (one of the many versions of)Lord Nemesis.
-
Agreed. On the surface, it appears to be a poor business decision. This is why the rumor of a Cryptic/Perfect World engine licensing debacle actually makes some sense. Keeping CoX running in maintenance mode would still be financially viable, and would at least make up some of the revenue they lost over Aion.

Quote:We hardly have any unions in the first place, and one major political party is doing everything they can to get rid of the rest. Hard to imagine, isn't it?Honestly, that's the baffling thing. What's a union workplace? Surely individuals are members of unions, not workplaces?

Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot and Anarchy Online are all still up and running. I'm having trouble understanding why they can't just leave the game running in maintenance mode. After all, I'd still like to give them some money.

Snagged one! Now if only I knew what this actually is.
-
Just grabbed one about halfway through the first list, and it only took me around 20 tries! Don't give up hope.

Quote:I hardly ever run into RP in the wild, but I suppose people do from time to time.Well this is just from my experience..so... not saying it is 100% reflective of the server/players:
It can be very cliquish
The RP can get very annoying if you are not into RP
Quote:I found that on Virtue more people are into "hooking up", ERP, etc... I come to play not flirt/cyber.
Quote:I found regular leveling slower through missions etc...not sure if it's because the people i played with were into RP and talked a lot...or maybe it's because their powers were selected for RP purposes and not so much getting the job done hehehe.
Anecdotal evidence varies from person to person. I've had a lot of bad experiences on "Freedumb". I've seen a few BAFs that went way worse than any I'd ever seen on Virtue. The farm and PL spam is a constant annoyance. I also tend to get a lot of blind invites- even to SGs! -
I think complaining about mez protection is a non-issue. Everyone likes to conveniently forget that Blasters do have a mechanic that addresses the mez issue: They're the only AT that can attack while mezzed. That alone has saved my butt on numerous occasions. Break Frees took care of the rest.
Clearly, Blasters have fallen behind as every other AT has gradually had their damage buffed around them. They definitely need to have their damage raised a bit though to put them back at the top, especially considering what they sacrifice for DPS.
I do like the idea of raising their health and possibly giving them better ranged damage mods as well. It's worth considering. -
I agree that there are a few problems with Teleport in its current state. The initial animation feels a little too long for a power that sees a ton of repetitive use. However, its main problem is the absurd endurance cost. Why should I be completely drained of endurance just for traveling halfway across Steel Canyon?
Teleport is a clunky, clicky, slot hungry mess. -
Electric/Electric/Electric Blaster is a very solid choice for sapping. And you don't even have to slot for End Mod, either.
People normally write off Electric Blast due to its low damage(and I can understand that if your looking at it strictly from a "blast" perspective), but the synergy Ball Lightning and Short Circuit have with /Electric's 3 blaps and Power Sink is very good at keeping entire spawns without any endurance. My level 50 E^3 had Talons of Vengeance bosses standing there doing nothing but taking hits.
Roll one and see for yourself. -

Lighten up, people. It couldn't possibly interfere with your playstyle THAT much.
Apparently, Lord Nemesis reads VirtueUnited, and he exercises proper netiquette when invading a city. This is important to know. -
That's actually really good! Crotchless-crotch issues aside, the Statesman screen is a bad picture in every way. Glad they came to their senses.
Agreed. A new login screen with every issue is a great idea, and I hope the continue with it. -
Just barely, mentioned in people's bios, and it's almost exclusively restricted to Pocket D. Don't let a tiny niche like that(or the Goons) scare you away from what is definitely beyond a shadow of a doubt the game's best server.
Virtue needs to get back to the old Hami raid schedule. -
-
You get one free transfer a month. Come on over to Virtue and see how life is in the big city(where we never have these kinds of problems). Once you get your accolade and other badges, you can always go back to Justice the next month!
-
Count me on the list of people that would like an alternative to Statesman's crotch on login. Please let me in on the secret.

Here's the problem with your Controllers: You're completely new to non-melee ATs and you're expecting a power leveled Troller to play well out of the box without really knowing what the individual powers actually DO.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that you've read the power's descriptions, but the problem is you lack actual, practical experience with each one individually. To actually understand each one- and the synergy they provide together- requires actually leveling them the normal way and getting to know each one on a power by power basis. You know, practice.
That said, Trollers are more passive(and technically also support characters) so they might not be a good fit for you personally. Doms may very well suit you better, having an extremely aggressive playstyle. Just don't expect to get them if you're P'ling them.
