    How about a fire/kin?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It can work. Melee works better in my experience for wall farming though.

    Romans hurt!

    [/ QUOTE ]

A Warshade with perma-Eclipse is a wall-wrecker, big time. AoE, 3 AoE pets up blasting away, 85% resist(all), and a heal that restores 100% health/endurance every 12s if you have bodies, along with self-buffs that are stronger for more mobs.

I just followed suit. I put up a crafted Gladiator Armor +3% def for 1,000,000,000

/me heads off to buy this and flip it for 999,000,000!

  3. It's very easy for one person to place 40 bids for 40 infamy total and bad up the numbers. I have never bothered adding deception to my bidding in this way, but the "# bidding" number must be taken with extreme skepticism, as regardless of the number, no bid is necessarily a "serious" bid.

I've listed things (even expensive things) at 1 and had them sell for higher than the last 5, but I wouldn't count on it.
  4. It's really quite funny and cool how Marketeering has evolved into a subculture.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
That's what I was thinking. I'll probably just take Hasten from the pools, although I've heard good things about Khelds and the Medicine pool (it's particularly attractive for the Rez power).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used to use the medicine pool powers at 44/47/49 on my Warshade, but nowadays, I'd rather use them for the Stealth pool to slot extra LotG:+recharge IOs into. Either way, that's a long way off. If you decide to be non-combat-viable in human form (ie, pure buffing), then you can pick them up early.

    If you look here:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...=1#Post7462949

    there's an old build labeled

    -=== The Form-Focused/Utility Peacebringer ===-

It's pre-IO and pre-human-form buff, but it was designed to maximize all the fluff/utility in human form, and ignored combat. The concept of using all your slots on nova/dwarf while taking a bunch of utility powers like the Medicine pool for human form is still a valid build choice, if you're so inclined. That's one of the bits of magic behind the forms.

I played that build for a while, eons ago (pre I8), and it was fun for a lark.
  6. When it procs, it adds an effect that lasts 120s. After shapeshifting, the effect will persist for 120s; then you need to drop back to human to use it.

That said, if you can afford numina and miracle, you probably don't need the Fitness pool - I have my Essence Boost, for example, slotted with 4x Heal/Rech IOs, to soft cap both aspects, and then Miracle and Numina +r/+r in those slots.

Conveniently, Essence Boost (mine is perma) and the +recovery aspects of those IOs, are both 120 seconds.

(The Warshade alternative might be Stygian Circle, but I haven't even bothered with those IOs on my Warshade - perma eclipse and stygian on a super-short recharge means I'm never wanting for endurance)
  7. Remember a long time ago, devs put that option into the options pane - something like "hide my character info from the web view" or something?

There was talk of web-viewable characters, where you could see the specs and slotting of characters.

Whatever happened to that? I was pretty excited about it, and kept expecting it to appear... and it seems that it hasn't.

Is it still in development? Any ETA?
  8. I think my goal would be to keep my overall rate at >40M/hr or more for time spent. I haven't been marketeering for a few issues, but once I felt out what I could "farm" by 5-boxing (which was about 30M an hour or so, although that was pre-MA, so maybe I could abuse MA more), I felt like marketeering should yield more to be viable. (Although marketeering is "easier" than 5-boxing)

Anyhow, I'd be fine flipping for 200k or 1M profits if I can bid on stacks and sell stacks with little attention and great reliability.

But I found in practice that my best money was made by putting in a ton of lowball bids across many levels of very valuable IOs (miracle, numina, lotg, etc), crafting them, and selling the crafted copies at high rates. (I'd price high enough that my median time to sell was over one week)

This often netted me >40M per purchase, but there were days I'd log in and find I hadn't bought anything and had nothing to flip, so it balanced out times when I might make 3 sales.

Of course, Nethergoat (*wave*) sort of ruined that with his explicit outing of LotGs in particular and the discussion of the profitability of really expensive IOs in general. It's not that you couldn't make a profit, but at least at the time, it shrunk the profit dramatically, and the increased amount of flipping actually LOWERED the high-end price of LotGs because more flippers meant more availability - when I had the ONLY sub-L50 LotG on the market, I could get whatever I wanted, even if that was a new all-time high price.

My last splash was a game mechanics play - when merits were coming out, I decided LotGs and Big IOs would drop in price due to people buying them directly, and that the lack of people getting random rolls would drive prices on modest-demand IOs that were important through the roof. (ie, Celerity: Stealth, Posi: % energy, etc)

When merits rolled I was sitting on over 100 Celerity:Stealths, for example, purchased at 200-500k each. I bought out over 80 L50 ones.

I rolled those all back out to the market for 4-8M each, roughly. So the profit per IO was fairly modest by my standards (3-7M, say), but in the aggregate - it was quite a score. Over a hundred stealths, probably 30+ Posi %Energy, and a handful of others, and I think I netted well over a billion (probably ~1.3-1.5B) for what amounted to perhaps 2-3 hours worth of work... I literally bought them all in less than an hour, mostly just scanning prices of Pool Cs to determine viability, and then buying out anything reasonable. Then I would do quick logins after that, and collect infl and list 5-10 recipes, which took under 10 minutes. Smaller profits than the big flips of yesterday, but hundreds of them done in a short period of time.

I think it's probably very common for salvage flippers to eek out 50-100k profits, but they probably do it with buying and selling 100x+ at a time, and probably place and collect their bids and sales in minutes, so their profits per hour are similar.

i wouldnt say the market, but the whole io system and the ability to build your toon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The possibilities afforded by IOs in general kept me interested. The market just supplied the funds needed to realize those builds I dreamed up.
  10. It's been a while since I decked one out, but I think the most I spent was ~500-700M, on top of pulling a bunch of IOs out of my "stock". (At the time I was flipping LotGs and had probably a dozen, of which I appropriated some.) Was like ~1B total at the time.

    This isn't a smart-azz question.

I am trying to figure out what makes them so super-uber that they require a "kryptonite" npc (aka quantum and voids) with "I win" button weapons ... especially at the lower levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, Warshades are incredibly backloaded in power. At L14 you're trying to figure out how to handle the extra minion with the void gun.

At L50, you're kind of a wrecking ball.

I made a video a while ago of me vs 5-man unyielding nemesis spawns. And admittedly, Nemesis are easy mode, but even so, a 5-man unyielding spawn every 19 seconds is pretty solid. I've come very close to beating the "Scrapper Challenge" in RWZ with my Warshade (which is defeating a L54 spawn with at least 2 bosses, at least one of which can Mez, without the use of inspirations or things like Shivans.) (Another Warshade HAS done it; at the time I was trying, I didn't have Nebulous Form, which he used to pre-herd the mobs together)

And most exciting of all, you can shift roles from moment to moment

And this is really what we need to revitalize the AT. Queueable detoggles, and drastically faster shapeshifts (I'm thinking 0.5s or less).
  14. [ QUOTE ]

    Peacebringers (PB) are Scrankfenders (Scrapper/Tanker/Defender)

Warshades (WS) are Trollkers (Controller/Stalker) beasts who can teleport themselves

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like to think of them as conscrablastankfenders, myself.

(I jest though; I think the one thing PBs and WS are not is Defenders).

argued that the Game Devs could create three Epic Pools for the 41-50 levels: one for each available Form (Human, Nova, or Dwarf)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds pretty sweet to me. I never had the problems you had soloing, whether that's better reactions, build, or strategy... but it has always seemed weird that in most PB/WS builds I come up with now, pool powers are my best choices 41-49 (or at least 44, 47, and 49)... whereas one of my favorite things in the game is leveling through the 40s while adding Ancillary powers.

I dual boxed my Super Strength Fire Brute and my Fire/Kinetics Corruptor

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have an ice/kin corr and a ss/wp brute on 2 different accounts and was thinking of trying something very similar... although I barely play atm and have no real need to jam to 50, but doing it in 5.5 hours is hotness. In my cursory attempt to keep up I must have misread, because I thought they made it so you could only play through the same MA map 3 times (or only get rewards for it three times?)

    Or maybe I imagined that.

Anyhow, congrats, that's an awesome feat. I haven't experimented with finessing MA yet, but I know I'd have lolled myself half to death if I'd done it in 20 hours, let alone 5.5.

One page back Smurph is talking about refunding money on the non-50's, so I assumed they all just canned it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My pacted characters were on his canceled account and pacted to the MMs that were "not fun" - they only made it into the low teens/high single digits, and Smurphy provided me with a full refund.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Gotchya. Don't work on Plasmas guy. Just give him the money back

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, if nothing else, I helped drive up the prices on all the others.

I think I'm in the "50 eventually" group anyhow, in which case it doesn't matter much. I'm patient enough to bide happily for a couple months extra.

  22. From your OP:

    [ QUOTE ]
If for some reason I collect your money and don't get your character to 50, or I break the pact, or decide to quit or whatever I'll give a full refund.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm still hoping to be in the batch of 50s. If I weren't, I'd propose that you issue a full refund in accordance with the original terms, and then let me figure out what the marginal utility is to me. I'd be glad to pay you for what you get done, if it has value to me. Two examples to illustrate possible marginal utility:

    (1) If I get a fire/psy dom back that is 25, start playing, and discover I despise it as much as I did playing them 1-15 or so before, I'm likely going to delete; or at least, just not play it again. Utility is ~zero, and I'd expect to pay zero.

    (2) If I get back a fire/psy dom that is 40, start playing, and discover it's pretty fun, I'd be glad to pay 55%. I've wanted a dom at 50 for a long time, but I cannot stand them at lower levels, even though the high-level play strikes me as quite fun. So here, the marginal utility is even greater than the pro-rated xp gain, because I'm past the part that I would never do myself.

But that requires a bit of experimentation to decide.

The 3 Crabs are 49. I'll probably be getting the Snake farm later tonight or tomorrow.

The MMs just aren't as fun as the storm MMs on Freedom. It became like work so I'm going to get all the guys probably into the 20-30s by the end of the month and return large portions of the money. It just has gotten like work and I don't really need the money.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dammit. My guys are attached to those guys, aren't they?
