Reminder! Two days until the first event!
Keep up the pressure! Keep spirits up! We are all Positron's Ally! -
Remember to still run Positron's TF on thursday and Saturday.
It is not over yet! Keep up the pressure! Keep Spirits up! We are all Positron's Ally! -
Well, I wrote an e-mail to the new address. Tried to appeal to their business sense to sell off CoH, and gave some light praise about the choice of refunds instead of game credit. Because if I'm ordering tea, I don't want to receive an aardvark.

I'd like to do Dilemma Diabolique sometime, just to see it.
Bit busy until like...next Wednesday though. -
Quote:That sounds like a Nemesis kind of plan to me. Way too much collateral damage.Or we could go all Bond villainy and induce the North Koreans to invade the south. That should hurt NCSoft's bottom line.
If I had the expertise to do so and CoH does shut down, my version of revenge would involve shutting down all their other games for a week starting on the day of CoH's shutdown. Of course, I can't do that. I'll just have to settle for warning people off of NCSoft because of their horrible practices.
I am wondering if something will happen if CoH shuts down though. If someone with the knowledge to do so is planning somehting, they're definitely not going to announce it here on a public forum. Unless they're really itching to lose their computer for some reason. -
I've been playing CoH on and off since it started. Usually kept my sub running though.

Quote:Also Villains and Vigilantes. Yes it's a sad way to think, but it's also expected for some to. It's practically inevitable.I thought we were heroes? This is a really sad way to think. We lose a game, and then people want the company responsible for it to be harmed so OTHER people can lose their game?
I will say that if anyone does pull off something against NCsoft, I don't expect them to announce it in a way that's easily IP traceable. I think the perpetrator/perpetrators of the PSN hack is/are still unknown? -
Quote:To add to that, here's a link: Titan network boards, Save Paragon City sectionMuch of the organization seems to be happening through other avenues already.
-
Hrm, maybe the old one got nuked because there was too much discussion of Scott Kurtz himself. So try to avoid that this time.
-
Yeah, the waiting is hard but, I'm sure they're trying. They love the game too.

Quote:Pet classes are often pretty easy to level up, but a lot harder to play well/not screw up a group. Because you can often let the pet go on auto while leveling, but in groups you have to worry about pets running off into other enemy groups and such. The only class I'd really be interested in - Summoner - is both (a) touted (and therefore stigmatized) as the "beginner's" class, even though Pet classes are usually considered more difficult in most games (including CoH); and (b) restricted to the bunny-girl race, adding a dose of "easy mode mockery" on top of the "newbie class" stigmatization.
... if I'd had any interest at all, it'd be gone. -
Quote:It has been mentioned in another thread that in South Korea, protest is how things get done. They're not China.Yeah, I can't imagine a good outcome for Paragon Studios. Maybe someone can salvage the game's code, but I'm not holding my breath. All my experience with corporate politics tells me there's rarely any second-guessing when a decision has been made. You can't be seen to be a waffler because you're perceived as weak. That attitude is probably a thousand times more powerful in Korean culture.
-
I only knew the day of the announcement because a friend told me. I usually don't check the front page often. And the last time I read anything on the launcher was about never. I probably would've found out a day or two after by checking red posts.

Quote:I read that as mecha statesman at first. How about ERECTING a giant paper mache Statesman mask right outside NCSoft's NA offices, covered with 20,000 SIGNATURES?
-
Minimum height characters in CoH look like tiny people, not children.

Quote:Uh no, I left about a year ago when my guild blew up while we were working on Heroic Ragnaros. The system still worked like I mentioned back then. So there's no way it's been changed for multiple years.Yeah you are way off - it hasn't been like that in years - and when that did happen, it didn't last long.
You might be confusing the global system with that time they wanted to tie real names to people's forum posts. That didn't last long. -
Quote:Hmm... last time I played WoW they didnt have any globals, but I quit that long ago and decided I would not touch it again the day they forced Battle.net accounts. Perhaps thats when they added that
Last I remember, WoW's global system was tied to the name you told them when you made your account. Which you can't change without lots of hoops. And you can only chat with people you've friended. Who can see your name. So you're giving out your real name to everyone you can chat to.
Nothing like our system which lets you join whatever channels you want, which can be filled with people you don't directly know, and talk to them. -
Quote:Corporations have a tendency to get like that when they get too big, especially if they have multiple divisions. As an example, I'm pretty sure Sony funded both the lawsuit against napster and the defense of napster through different divisions. You can have different parts of a company working against each other. It's insanity.I feel like I'm watching some careless schizophrenic who just walked in out of nowhere, made some really harmful decisions that affected thousands of people, and who then walked out just as suddenly while mumbling some crazy line like, "This is good...this is good...I'm so focused..." every time you went and tried to shake some sense out of him.

Quote:Or, in other words, stop brandishing knives around and put them away for now. Sure, you can still carry you knives around and keep them ready, but stop threatening people with em. There's plenty of time for knife work later if things do go badly. For now it just doesn't look good.So please don't go all nuclear yet. I know it's frustrating not getting any answers or gratification, but I knew that this wasn't going to happen in a few days. Keep playing, keep your spirits up, we'll help as much as we can with events like the upcoming Positron's Ally event next week, and we will get through this.
Unless you're beating up villains with them, in which case go nuts. Red cap knives look pretty nice anyway. -

Quote:Freak's Squeele is a French comic specifically about a superhero school. And then there's lots of superpowered manga characters, maybe not quite the same style as western heroes, but very similar. Oh, and Ratman, for a recent very specific superhero one. There was also a really good anime about superheroes last year called Tiger and Bunny.Come to think of it, I'm not sure if I have ever read a superhero comic book that didn't originate from North America, but then again I mostly read only comics by Marvel and a little bit of DC/Image.
I think Japan would probably be good for an expansion, though it is a smallish market.
Still, superhero stuff is allll over their entertainment. -
I'm a (very nice looking) dude, not female.
Played a lot of caster characters in games, which were often female only in games that didn't have a choice of gender. Ended up making my account in Ragnarok Online female cause that's what I was used to (Pitho was a wizard there). Somehow it carried over here to my main favorite character and my forum name. Just never bothered making a new name.
Another name I use, P51mus, has the downside of being a name that people don't know how to say. And JigglyThePuff is just silly.
Oddly enough, after using this name in CoH, WoW, RO and other games, I see Pitho as much my name as my birth name. Hearing Pitho grabs my attention just as much as my real name does. -
