  1. The build below is to help you to get some ideas, and likely would come under 400 mil and some merits. Yes, 400 mil (or 500 mil) does seem like alot but its not really. This game, and its market makes it relatively simple to make money in. The Market forum can give you a few ideas, or just join a good super group and ask. I've given my share to charity, since 100 mil isn't much to a vet player. Or just hope for that one lucky drop that will make you rich when you sell it.

Because slotting with your old game common IOs, and not sets.... you're wasting your cash. A lot of sets that people consider second shelf aren't much more once you get in the lvl 30s.

Ok, there are a few things worth mentioning.

With the Leadership pool, you can get rid of Aim.

Super Speed and Stealth are just as good as Invisibility, and this way you can actually do something under it. And if someone does see you, run away and heal... easy!

Fortitude and Adrenalin Boost are very important, and more often you can get them on your teammates, faster the missions will be.

Absorb Pain - faster then heal other, and about the only way to heal high level tanks with a one shot.

And plan on your Alpha, cus that will help you out on your early slotting (this one, I thought recharge would be its choice).

    Fire/Rad - I19

I have the Dev proc/Chance for Hold in Cinder and Char in my fire/storm.... for Cinder, I get 1 to 3 in its hold every time I use the power. For Char, its saved my bacon a few times when I was in trouble and it went off. But it is a pretty short hold, so I could see why you would pass on it. But on any aoe, its a good proc to have in it.

Flashfire, I agree you could drop the sixth slot. I think I only put that there cus I had a free slot, and couldn't think of a better spot for it. But on my fire/storm as well as this build, its nice to have a duration of 30 seconds and the same for recharge. Most mobs are dead before they come out of stun.

But don't forget to plan for your alpha slot, cus that should have a impact on what you're slotting. If you're going for recharge, then you could lighten-up on a few powers and let the 45% to recharge take up the slack. Or endurance, etc...

    Fire/Rad - I19

Here is a build, I know purples are expensive (around 600 mil/ each set) but Flash Fire slotted with it is well worth the cash. But since the Basilisk Gaze set is around 170 to 200 mil themselves, I know you got a some influence in the bank. The only think I still dislike is my slotting of Choking Cloud, which I know that can be improved.

  4. In the FrostFire mission, with the mob that has the key with it hidden around a corner. Team charged in, Cysts unloads..... and we all met back at the hosp in Altas.
  5. While I've never played a Plant long enough for a opinion, I have played a empathy for years.

Fortitude - on mine, its LoTG D/R, E/R. R (globe recharge) and two Membrane Exposure which add recharge/defense/to hit.
So 21 second recharge, 23% def, and 26% to hit and with Spiritual Total Radial, its down to 20 second recharge time, and +29% to hit.

Recovery Aura - Ok with your slotting.

Reg. Aura - Ok with your slotting.

Absorb Pain - I have mine slotted with 5 Doc's Wounds due to teaming with tanks. Takes alot to top off a 50th lvl tank's health (even if you use power boost). And I like AP for its faster cast time, which has saved alot of team members over the years.

Adrenalin Boost - I have mine set-up for max recharge, so 3 crafted recharges and one crafted heal and endurance mod. Right now, I have a recharge of 101 seconds with it having a duration of 90 seconds (with the spiritual total radial).

Spirit Tree - I know some folks have dogged it, but I've been really impressed by it when you're on the Hami Taunt Team. Throw one or two down next to the tank, and the emp fenders can take a smoke break. And its nice vs a few arch-villains that take longer then 90 seconds to beat. So I won't just dismiss it out of hand...
  6. Not saying you need a stone or a rad in every group... but it does help covering your bases so there isn't any disappointment when you face the GW or LR. Maybe a better team could have figured a way around, or we just got sloppy.

I hate to say it, but STF is like that... either its really smooth or a total heartbreak. My earlier one the next morning was pretty easy when I used the same toon from the prior night's failure. And the other had a MM/Dark and me a dark/rad... and we still bombed. Today, who knows which side the coin will land.

So I will take a harder look at the team when we're recruiting, and be sure someone is on the team as good as you folks seem to think you are. Not saying you're not, just when its time to crush coal into diamonds... folks are able to do it.

And with PUGs, always plan for the worst and hope for the best.
  7. With all these STFs, you're going to get some.... extra special teams. I've been on two so far this weekend, one being a four hour mess with us stuck at GW and the other was with a tank that couldn't hold LR and live.

Both of them, had Team Leaders that were new to the role. And i hate to say, they may some bad choices to the power sets. Had thought with two storms and a kin, had enough debuffs at the first tf... but nope. Second one, we had the debuffs but only one tank and he was a fire tank.

So once again, I learn the lesson with STF... you need to pick the proper mix of powers and/or take the time to get the temp powers that can help.
  8. First off, this build is going to cost more then 1B. You would be lucky if you brought it under 3 B.

Radiant Aura- you could save yourself a slot here, since six only gets you a crappy 1.26 toxic and psionic resistance set bonus. I would toss the recharge, since without it you're at 2.253 (with it, its 2.112 recharge times).

Maneuvers - Why not just go for a set of 3 LotG IOs?
Tough- Impervious Skin:Status Resistance, you really need more then one to make it worth it.
Assault - Go Leadership instead, you're team will love you for it.

As for your 47, and 49 power... maybe Focused Accuracy, and Summon Disruptor.

A ok build mostly, I might use a diff IO instead of those normal crafted Defense Buffs. Don't even got to be more LotG, just a few def/end from dif sets.

    I'm sad....

Amberpup is even sadder.... 13 reads, and not one "Don't worry little trooper, its going to get better."

Guess I will kill the sadness with ice cream.

    I'm sad....

Stop playing CoH to go out and shovel my driveway.... ok, used a good size snowblower but it still took me a hour. Came back in, eat dinner, rubbed hands like some mad scientist cus now I could go back to playing CoH!

    Servers down....

    Damn...

    Sad...

Maybe the leader was in the middle of a TF and couldn't invite anyone anyway. (You'd be surprised how many times people demand that players should start over from scratch and invite them).
You're kidding me.... people actually do that!
I mean, I've restarted some Masters of task forces that had fail as long was we weren't too far in. And of course, restarts due to difs being set too low or high but outside of once when we switched players I've never seen it done.

    That's just crazy...
  12. Just ran a STF, and the teamleader kept telling us about this and the level-shift problem. Better safe then sorry.... and we got it down in 1 hour, six mins. Pretty good for a PUG.

True, but then you could take alot of blues (with some waiting for you in your email inbox) or the temp power recover serum (5 uses, enough for any tf).

And Cardiac Boost has completely cured my endurance problems with my fire/storm troller.... its that good!

    Ice kin help

I agree, go for range defense... since with AA up, its going to be those loners taking pop-shots at your ice/kin that will be the problem. I've noticed it with mine, since I just respec-ed her for i19. As for Epic, I went with Psionic for Indomitable Will for some mez protection and to see how well Arctic Air and World of Confusion work together.
  15. Pinkpup

    Ice/Storm build

I don't think the hold proc in Lightning Storm is going to work the way you think it does (i.e. a chance per strike).

And Flash Freeze is a easy (and cheap) power to purple.
  16. On trollers with Psionic Mastery, I usually do this;

Tough - 3 Steadfast Protection - Mids says its 18.92% on Smashing/Lethal resistance.
    Mind over Body - 5 Impervious Skin - Mids 37.56% S/L resistance + 27.32% in Psionic.

So for only six slots, your actually over the soft cap with some KB protection and a little Status Resistance ( and +5 % recharge set bonus).

And I skip Weave, unless I need a mule for a LoTG Globe recharge.

With Indomitable Will, one of my trollers got its recharge down to 83 seconds.
  17. Pinkpup

    Ice/Storm build

And don't overlook Gale being useful for damage (with the bonus from Containment). On my fire/storm, I use it right after fire cages. Sure there are some problems with kb, but since I solo mostly its not like anyone is going to complain about it.

I have five Positron's Blast in mine, with a Force Feedback +recharge proc in the sixth.

You may wish to reconsider using Basilisk's Gaze IOs, those things are almost as expensive as some purples sets.

And with Freezing Rain, I got mine loaded with procs -Touch of Lady Grey -negative damage, Positron's Blast - Energy, Impeded Swiftness - Smashing, Achilles Heel -proc % Debuff, Achilles Heel Deduff/Recharge, Positron's Blast - Damage/Endurance.

Surprised you don't have another Achille's Heel - % Debuff proc in Tornado. Its my 49th power, with only that slotted in it (since i19). Most days I use it to thin the crowds while I'm working on a few of the tougher customers, or use it on a AV (since most don't suffer kb). But I've been impressed by its damage unslotted, since again you're Containment comes into it.

And while you can count on your debuffs to keep you alive, I would find someway to get Frozen Armor for some smash/lethal protection. When the javelins start coming in on a ITF, you be thankful you have some.
  18. My luck with purples varies, last summer I was getting one a week. Now, lucky to see one after two months of farming. Weekends for some reason seem to be better, don't know why but it wasn't due amount of my time spent playing. Of the task forces, I've gotten a few on ITFs.

Mostly its just grinding mobs till the dice roll your way. I can farm my fav map for eight hours and just get junk. Other times, I load up the map and start getting worthless crap... then "BOOM", a purple!

So its better to just learn to play the market, get the cash and buy the purples you want from fools like me. But don't think purples IOs are the end all, super good choice for your slots. Most of my builds, the max I got slotted with purples are usually only three powers since I stay away from higher price sets (like melee). With the Alpha Slot option now, you could not even need a purple in your build if you so choose.

I farm +1/+8 mobs around four hours of game time a week. In two years, seen about 30 purples total on 4 toons. In the first year of having a lvl50, I didn't see any purples.

    Fire/kin Build

    Ok, here is my review of DasBert Build;

Char - BasGaze is costly, better to save the cash and go a little cheaper.
Transfusion - Needs ACC... cus one of these days, you're going to need it real bad and its going to miss.
Fire Cage - Not what I would pick but ok.
Combat Jump - Just mule it for the LkGmblr Globe recharge.
Hot Feet - Again, not what I would pick but its ok.
Super Jump - Get a kb pro in there, its one of the cheaper ones.
Cinder - Again, BasGaze is expensive (easily hitting 300+ mil for the 4 if even available).
    Tough - Add the 3rd S'fstPrt.
Speed Boost - Throw another EndMod in it, your teammates will love you for it.
Maneuvers - Mule it like Combat jump.
Weave - Hmmm.. need to check the numbers but it does look light on slots.
Tactics - Way too many slots, most I do on it is 3.
Fire Imps - Ok, I guess... I might go with only 4 slots.
Transference - Lose one slot here, and throw in some ACC.
Fulcrum Shift - too much recharge, and no ACC (and yes, I know your counting on Tactics to provide it but still..).

Rock looks good, you could cut the Stamina down to 3 slots... you do have transference after all.

And don't forget about Incarnate slotting when you get to level 50. There are some really nice one out there, which will be alot cheaper then some of your IO sets.

    Ice/kin advice

With my ice/kin, about the only thing I ever farmed effectively was Snaptooth for candy canes... lay down a ice slick, then get Snap in some ice, and let Jack take him out with his ice sword. I got about 500 CCs that way during xmas/new years 2009.

But I won't take her on any normal farm mission. Not enough damage in ice to really do that at an acceptable speed rate like you can get with a fire/kin, fire/storm, or fire/rad.
  21. Pinkpup

    Ice/kin advice

Here is my latest build for my ice/kin, slotted with some purple sets I had laying around. While I'm sure I screwed it up somewhere, it should give you a few ideas. As for taking Psionic Mastery, I've gotten to like Indomitable Will and Mind over Body when doing ship raids, and LGTF.

  22. I haven't played alot of MM, and none of them are close to being 50s.... but the new demon summoner/TA MM I started a few months ago has been alot of fun, and easy to level.
  23. With i19, I picked Tornado for my last power for my fire/storm farm toon.... one slotted with a Achilles proc. While I do have Freezing Rain with the same proc (and understand they don't stack), I've decided it was a better choice then Hurricane (after all, this is a farm build).

So far, been using Tornado as a clean-up power once the mobs are down to runners and range loners. Its working pretty good so far (with 3 runs), for even unslotted the damage is enough to kill those I've beaten down with HF/FC.

And against bosses, its just another chance for the proc to fire off.

Ok, my situation is a bit special and I was advise you to see if you could break a few slots free for Tornado but it not... its not the worst choice you can make if used correctly.
  24. While I have yet to do it, I was going to try;
Apocalypse - chance for damage (negative)
    Devastation: chance for hold
Explosive Strike: chance for smashing damage

Mid's says its going to be 14 pts of smash, 10 pts of energy, and 35 pts of negative = 59 pts total. Which isn't that great but Jolting Chain does recharge every 5 seconds on my build so its not that horrible.
  25. I would get a set of warburg bio/chem burn missles just in case, with maybe half your team having a shiva too. Nothing worst then getting to Rom, and finding you can't defeat him.

And a good temp power to have would be recovery serum, so you can manage endurance issues better (five uses).

I personally might just go a normal "Masters of" instead of +4/x8.
