Ice kin help
Building for def vs res is really up to you. Some people prefer never getting hit to begin with while other would rather take a few extra hit but be hit for less dmg.
Both have their advantages but I tend to lean towards defense on my own kins. In my mind getting hit less often means using transfusion less, ergo more time using other buffs or attacks.
Just knowing how defense rolls work in this helped me decide. Basically this is how it works..
Lets so you softcap your s/l defense..so 45%..that means ANY attack that uses smashing or lethal only has a 5% chance to hit. That covers roughly 85-90% of everything in the game.
As a controller you can probably expect(at best) 75% resistance vs smashing and lethal. So every attack that comes at you that uses S or L that part of the attack will do less damage BUT any other part will still hit for full damage. Say something like fireball comes hurling at you. Its smashing component will do very little but its main damage, the fire, will still hurt.

I would build for capped Ranged defense, Psi APP for Indom Will, as much as resistance as you can get (probably around 50% after Tough/Weave). As long as you don't stand directly on top of enemies you should be able to heal through most of what they throw at you. Importantly, if you are solo, don't charge in. cast Ice Slick around a corner, let them fall once, then jump in nearby.
The reason for Ranged defense is because 1) its doable and 2) enemies outside AA are where I, at least, always have the biggest problems.
I agree, go for range defense... since with AA up, its going to be those loners taking pop-shots at your ice/kin that will be the problem. I've noticed it with mine, since I just respec-ed her for i19. As for Epic, I went with Psionic for Indomitable Will for some mez protection and to see how well Arctic Air and World of Confusion work together.

So it's best to go for positional defense instead of type on controllers?
I thought the farm king fire/kin always have stone app for s/l defense.
Not that my guy is a fire/kin or really plays as one.
But I thought with arctic air that I would go for either s/l or ya melee defense instead of range.
Because I can immobilize them so they stay in melee range right?
Or when does an attack change from melee to range?
So I built my ice kin for s/l defense or resistance cap., havent really notice it being worthy of keeping. So I was thinking of respec and get rid of the stone epic pool and focus in another direction other then s/l defense or resistance. Any thoughts? He mainly for team support
