I was a little disappointed when i read that your side will change depending on which mission you choose, leaning you to good or evil. I was really hoping the utopia was a whole new copy of our current zones, but with Rogue Isles being a hero's in hiding, and paragon city being a place where the heroes are hunted. Kind of like xmen- nightmares of future past. I think it would be cool to be doing heroic stuff like saving people - but saving them from the government. A hero to the people, but an enemy of the state. I hope it isn't just alignment switching.
-
I think an eBay style rating system would work. You could see comments left and ratings.. that one if a mission is highly rated but all the ratings are by 3 people, you know it MAY not really be accurate. A five star with over 200 users saying such is more likely to be good.
just my two cents. Opening bid with no reserve. -

Question:
What if someone wants to get at player-made missions right at Level 1? Especially redside, where just getting from Fort Darwin to the Port Oakes ferry would be nearly impossible for a Level 1 character. Well, probably excepting Stalkers, of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, any villain can do it. i just consider row versus wade. A bit slow and tedious, but it's easy at level 1 to reach the ferry, albeit soggy. Or i could spend 15-20 minutes killing stuff around the fort to get a couple levels and then just run through most of the island.
[/ QUOTE ]
HUH?!?! What does this have to do with row vs wade? I assume you mean rowing like a boat and wading, like walking slowly into the water and not Roe v. Wade supreme court case? Either way I have no clue what you are talking about.
I like the idea, but I would say since AE is virtual missions, put AE in Pocket D. It will make it easy for everyone to get to, esp if you have the VIP pass, put some traffic in PD and get farmers out of newbie zones. -
Imagine if you will.. this thread gets started and NO ONE replies. we all just ignore it. We know it isn't a valid suggestion, the OP's replies were just trying to throw gasoline on a fire. If we all ignored the thread (please ignore the next ones!) it would die an ignominious death. Alone. with a little 0 beside if to represent the number of sad pathetic little posts and views it has had. Don't give threads like this the time it takes to read it.. just move along.. nothing to see here. These aren't the trolls your looking for.

Me thinks you're overreacting.

Well we each have our opinions. And my opinion is that I'm done. I've already spent $40 on "boosters". There is no real new end game content. There is no real new low level content. Sure you could argue that I14 brings low and high level content, but not really. It's short missions with almost no reward that isn't even created by NCSoft, but other players.
There is practically nothing different from the game now compared to the game I started playing 3 years ago. Yet what has my $40 got me? A few superficial costumes.
My point is that they used to give us new costumes as part of the new content. Now we have to pay for every... single... one...
Death of a thousand papercuts.
[/ QUOTE ]
And now onto a segment we call "Really, with Perfect Tommy"
Really Borehounds, you bought every booster pack, knowing what was in them, knowing that they were in NO way required to play the game, they were purely optional costume packs with limited appeal inherent powers (sorry but I just don't use self D every battle!), and even knowing ALL of that, you spent the money willingly, and you are complaining they charged you for it. Really? You don't think if after the first $10 booster that you weren't satisfied with, you figured you would invest another $30 to be unsatisfied more? Really, because I am thinking if you didn't think the costumes were worth the price, you wouldn't pay for them. I don't know any costume I NEED to feel good about playing the game. You say you have to pay for every.single.costume? Really Bore? really? REALLY? It seems to me the I13 day jobs added a whole bunch of costume options. So did 12 and 11. In fact with the exception of I13.5 (okay call it 14) all the FREE updates came with costume addtions, as far as I remember. So you can't have a magic hat, or cyborg face without paying extra. That REALLY doesn't seem like EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. It does to you ? Really?
Another little fact you may not be aware of .. "I quit" posts aren't allowed by the forum rules. Really. You can look it up. I'll wait... ... ... /e wait ... ... SEE?? So I think what you REALLY meant was to vent about how you don't want to pay for the small percentage of costumes that are extra. You probably don't like to wait for vet rewards either. I REALLY doubt you are leaving. I would be willing to bet you are not in fact leaving. But if you do I can only say one thing....
Can I haz yur stuf?
This has been "Really.. with Perfect Tommy" -
Anyone have pictures to post of all the new items?

I personally dont' understand the point of farming. Making a mission to do over and over and OVER again to get the rewards, seems like a really REALLY dull use of time. Maybe paragon studios can come out with Virtual Paint Drying. I know the regular missions can become a grind and I take break from playing for a while when they do, but intentional making a mission for the purpose of boring yourself to tears seems masochistic IMHO. Then again, I have found i mostly ignore AE. It may make teaming a little harder, but it means the teams I do get will not be filled with people that I don't enjoy the play style of.
To each their own.

You want a point to farming, check this out . . . Make an AE mission, outside, very large. I used City 02. Add as many protect object objectives as you can. Use a custom group which only has one minion. Add an ambush for every protect object, and run it with an 8 man team on invincible. I advise you make that minion as easy as possible to kill also.
I'm working on a mission like that, and intend on publishing it. Just not sure how to make it allowable without C/R infringement. Can't call the minions zerg, was thinking maybe Blergs? Got the idea from the forums
Edit: no wait, make those minions all masterminds ... hehe
[/ QUOTE ]
I really don't see how that gives farming a point.. in fact it seems to me to reinforce how pointless it is. I don't play that often, only a couple of hours a week. Why would I waste my time doing that? -

Spines barb swipe is just plain stupid. IMO spines needs a complete makeover getting rid of the death bananas and having more spines/thorn like animations. Like quills on a porcupine maybe.
I would also change the wavy hands hippiegurusecretsquirrel action of mind controls confuse, for MM's TK thrust - it is more dynamic. The wavy hands is way to wussy for my tastes. -
QR
My take on doing pistols I guess it a little different. Rather than various ways to shoot the same gun, have it be a rare super guy gun, with lot of different ammo.
cryo bullets, napalm bullets, spent uranium bullets (knockdown?), flechette bullets (cone attack), tracer bullets (accuracy bonus) high explosive bullets (aoe, targeted), taser bullets (low damage, stun), magnum bullets (your standard tier one attack),poison tipped, and of course, a nuclear bullet as the nuke. -
Have you seen Larry-boy? Like that.
-
I need them to add plungers to the blaster set.. how else can I make Larry-Boy??
-
Pink sucks. oh wait, are we talking colour or pop star?
NM.. they both suck.
but confuse needs to lose the wavy hands.. give it the animation from TK thrust.. that one is cool. Wavy hands sucks harder than pink for the colour. -
I would suggest tesla cages to 7, drop shocking grasps, and add a supercharger (ando from heroes style) buff, that works similar to power sink (i think it is power sink) that increases secondary effects so SC can drain a group properly.
I really want to see electricity control too. -
I like the animation, it feels acrobatty.. now I would like to see the fighting pool get a good looking kick.. that would be an improvement.
-
I suggested that before inferno, I got major flamage for it. Majority (well the vocal ones anyway) hate that idea. Me? I still like it because then my AR blaster could have a sidearm.

Learn to adapt. Thats all there is. Everyone was so happy because they could post nearly what they want and it wouldn't matter even though it may not have followed the rules. Now that the rules are more heavily enforced, people lash out that they can't have their "fun" anymore.
Well, why can't I have fun going around exposing myself to people in real life? I mean..its the thrill of the moment, and the old cops didn't care. But now these new cops are getting me everytime I do it but just giving me a slap on the wrist. So I guess I'll try my fun more before they really put me in for good.

if you read all my posts, you would see I was using the lampooning of his moniker as a method to prove a point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your point failed. And pretty badly. You see, there are several ways to make a point. Some of them are better than others, and some have more side effects than others. You compare posts to important topics, such as nuremburg trials.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well Zeus, you missed it again. I never once compared any post to the nuremburg trials. READ THE WHOLE POST! I was talking about my being called anti-authority. Sometimes anti-authority is a good thing. They could have used some of them in Germany during WWII. I am sure quite a number of people feel the current administration could use a few more people willing to go against the party line. This has NOTHING to do with posting. But thanks for showing us your inablity to read a complete post.
And my original point Zeus, god of blunder, is that by engaging in name calling and openly breaking a forum rule, IE doing EXACTLY what should get a post yanked or a thread locked, did NOT in fact have any impact on this thread. Bringing up ... AGAIN my POINT that moderation is inconsistent and THAT is my problem with Lighthouse. Part of his job is to ensure the moderators are on the same page. He isn't. He should.
So are we clear now? or did you just skip that paragraph? -
[ QUOTE ]
Let me break it down a little further:
Having a disrespectful attitude toward authority does not, in and of itself, make you admirable. It just means you don't respect authority. Depending on circumstance, this might make you a heroic rebel or just a jerk.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree wholeheartedly. That was my point. I gave examples of great people that did not respect established authority. I also gave examples of those that did authority. I didnt' give example of good guys following the rules or bad guys not following them as that is considered the expected behaviour of each. I am saying call me anti-authority all you want. It isn't an insult.
And for the record, respect is earned never given. -
[ QUOTE ]
So I'm supposed to be hurt by that? No one is perfect,
[/ QUOTE ]
I resent that. I in fact am. -
Thank you Grok. Since I wrote it, I am generally unable to see what someone else might in the post. I hope my intent is clearer now and everyone realizes I was not calling the mods nazis. Nor was I calling myself Jesus, et al.

<snip>
Patrick Henry, William Wallace, Gandhi, Thomas Jefferson, Jesus. These guys all had problems with authority. The guys at the Nuremburg trials? Just following orders.
[/ QUOTE ]
By comparing yourself to them, and the moderation staff (and Lighthouse) to the guys at the Nuremburg trials, you are really inflating the importance of both yourself (hell, any poster on these boards) and the moderation team.
[/ QUOTE ]
And you cannot seem to read a complete post.
I was not comparing posting on a board to any action those people did, and I certainly did not compare the moderation team to the defendants at Nuremburg. Not even in the slightest.
What I DID do, was respond to PREVIOUS posts saying that I had problems with authority. I agreed that I did and so did they. Having problems with authority does not make you equal to any of those men. But having problems with authority is not in itself a bad thing, as THEIR actions proved.
I never said the moderators followed orders, as those at Nuremburg did. I said mindless following of orders was similar to the actions of those war criminals. NOTHING on this board in any way is similar to what was actually done by them. So in short I did not call ANYONE a nazi.
I was defending my statements which had accused me of having authority issues. THAT IS ALL! So thanks all for the clarification about calling someone nazis, but I didn't do it.
So to sum up for those who only read first and last paragraphs - I revel in my problem with authority, many great people have been the same. Mods are not being compared to Nazis. Mindless obedience is. Okay got that now? -

Well that is what I decided to do. I am PM'ing Statesman about Lightbrightand hopefully he will either lay off the delete button a little, or hopefully actually apply it fairly and with some reasons given. I know this post will likely be deleted by morning. He has a personal hate-on for me so I think his beeper goes off everytime I post so he can delete them. Think CuppaJo will come back and replace him?
And if you really are nice, you will quote this so it will live on after his perfecttommy purge in the morning!
Bitter? nah, just figure why should I be polite to someone that won't even give me the courtesy of telling me what I did wrong
[/ QUOTE ] A couple of tips here. First of all, when you have to stoop to using a derogitory name for someone, ESPECIALLY a modification of his current name, then you're just reaching in a desperate manner for any and all reasons to hate the person. It really demeans your statements. I remember listening to talk radio... rush was on, talking about clinton, as he often did, then after his show a different person came on, and throughout his show he would only refer to clinton as "slick willy". It made the guy sound like a boob. Rush may have some idiotic points occasionally, but at least he was capable of saying the name "clinton". He didn't have to boost his ego by derrogating others.
[/ QUOTE ]
okay Smartacus, making fun of his name I find funny. I like it. and if you read all my posts, you would see I was using the lampooning of his moniker as a method to prove a point. There is no way those posts should have stood as they engaged in personal attacks. The should have had the smack of no return. Yet other posts that did not engage in any personal attack or go off topic etc, have been deleted. That is why my complaint is. I proved my point to all of you that want to disagree about consistency that openly hostile rule breaking posts aren't getting deleted. And as for Billy Bob Clinton... get over yourself, he was and still is a staple for late night comedians. Do you think Dubya, doesn't get made fun of?
[ QUOTE ]
And I really doubt lighthouse hates you. Come on. I don't think he's particularly great at his job right now either, but I don't fool myself into thinking this is some sort of conspiracy. Why? Because you're just not important enough. Neither am I for that matter. Was I irritated when the costume contest was botched up beyond all human recognition? Absolutely. Did I think to myself "wow, NCSoft must really hate me for screwing up in a way that I'd care about!" Absolutely not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure he doesn't lose sleep over me either. But see my previous paragraph, I was intentionally launching a flame on him to attempt to either a) get it deleted or b) prove that the Mods of all creation are inconsistent
[ QUOTE ]
I'll agree that it's annoying as hell to have posts seemingly randomly deleted. As livinghellfire put it, meaningless tangents are kept up while refrences to underwear are deleted forever. But this isn't anarchy. Probably not anyway. There ARE other options than anarchy. This whole thing doesn't have to be about legal theory you know. He COULD just be incompetent. I'm not saying he is.. I'm saying it's a possibility. He COULD be under totally different orders than cuppa and cricket were, and his boss may just not have a clue how to hold a community together. We don't know WHY he's doing what he's doing... or whether the decisions are even his.
One person said that comments about his personality were uncalled for... to me, that is the ONLY part that is called for, because that's all we actually know about. We can't assume we know his motivations for things, because we don't. We don't even begin to.
Can't we just start blaming statesman for everything again? After all, he's the man.. so we can change his name to The States-man! Yeah, that will make us sound clever!
Zeus - god of derogotory statements
[/ QUOTE ]
No I don't blame Statesman. He hired Blighthouse to admin the forum & community. He doesn't really want to deal with the issues on the board, he expects LH to do his job.
As I posted earlier, I have dealt with my original issue with Cricket and got great results.
And lastly (well for now, you KNOW I will never actually shut up) to those that consider some of my posts to be immature and that I have problems with authority:
Well according to my wife all men are immature, (seriously I am playing a game about being a superhero, calling me immature is pretty redundant) I happen to consider it immature to simply bow to any figure given the mantle of authority without, what seems, any true ability to wield it. I am not a sheep.
Problems with authority? You bet. That is why I own the company and won't hire sycophants. If you never question authority you have completely given up free will and are a willing slave.
Patrick Henry, William Wallace, Gandhi, Thomas Jefferson, Jesus. These guys all had problems with authority. The guys at the Nuremburg trials? Just following orders.
