Quote:lol.Next time I solo Trapdoor easily I'll just dust my hands off, say "This character's got all it needs," and put it into storage.
on the beta server I checked out the arc so that I'd know if I stood a chance. had to use some super inspirations to get through it as an sj/will brute.
on live servers, asked for help expecting a pretty tough fight and mopped the floor with him. I had to apologize to the guy that I asked to help me out. I wasn't expecting it to be so anticlimactic. -
We got a rocket board, didn't we? Who's to say there aren't other such powers in the works?
Heck, a rocket cycle /lightcycle /really well tuned motorcycle could work as a togglable superspeed variant of the flight powers. and it might disable other powers like the other vehicle powers do. (rocket board and flying carpet) -
"Melee Defender."
So, a squishy that's supposed to protect his or her team, while stnading next to the stuff that can blow them up?
why get close? You need to create a compelling image of the character you're thinking of before you go any further. create a concept hero or villain that represents the class, and let's see if the class can work in that concept. -
Really? you mention Robin and Batgirl, but leave out Huntress?
SON YOU BETTA CORRECT YOSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOSELF
(I also would have expected Donatello, and yes, TMNT are comics superheroes.) -

I bought attuned enhancements. I got like 15 luck of the gambler global recharge io's when they were half off.

Quote:Villains don't have to adhere to a moral code to make you think they do.I agree.
Given that it's entirely possible to have a very large number of Villains on any iTrial, given their coop nature, why would somebody who's made it to the top by stomping on any obstacle even bother trying to protect some Joe Soap who's entire civilisation seems hell bent on destroying his? Any villain worth their salt would leave civilian guts adorning not just the sidewalk but the cameras, presenters and corpses of dead Telepathists with a note saying: "If I EVER see Cole around here I will return and visit the most unholy of genocides on all your people!"
Clearly this is a game and we're not making comparative moral choices - for example I have huge issues with vigilantes in the Real World - but it makes no sense for the bad guys on our side to adhere to some ambiguous moral code for the sake of the story. It's inconsistent and ridiculous.
If it was like the Cathedral of Pain, and there for limited to Heroes only, fine, not a problem (as has been noted by esteemed colleagues here, I have other issues with the TPN as well so yes, there are problems) but why is it not sensible for a villain to take care of the problem with a nuke? "Took care of the problem boys, let's go kick ****!"
Hell, there's a pretty huge laundry list of villains in real life that fit this trope to a T.
We call them politicians. -
Me, I'm thinking that out of the next slots, we'll probably see one dedicated to defense or damage resistance somehow, maybe even one that will allow tankers to exceed their damage resist or defense hardcaps.
If it were a click power, it might even be enough to make those tanks invincible for a short while, and for the rest of us give us the ability to avoid those nasty alpha strikes.
there might be a slot that works with travel powers, though I doubt you could push them faster without running into serious issues of flying past, or into something before its graphics load. Perhaps it might give your travel powers some in-combat utility? giving a character an instacast teleporter escape move, a fly someone into the wall over there move, a superfast (perhaps "infinite force") punch that levels an enemy and leaves em knocked down for a bit, or a mario-style jump on a guy and crush him move, well, all those are cool, and since players can respec out of some travel powers and into others, choosing between those slot powers wouldn't be so bad. -

Quote:Stefani GermanottaIn a setting like this, with telepaths, clairvoyants, precogs, Star Trek type sensor arrays and working ouija boards, you would be lucky if your "secret identity" outlasts milk.
Your real name probably isn't on the tip of every tongue (quick, without looking it up, what's Lady Gaga's real name?)...
And I know this because of this video, which someone sent me a while back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM
Note: She actually IS talented, and I bet if you don't like Gaga's music, you might like this song.
but to be more on topic, the concept of a secret identity is ludicrous to begin with, always has been, and it's always been a pretty sad excuse for characters like Batman to keep some sense of mystique about them. I for one don't lament their loss in this game.
In DCUO, however, it was pretty lame that they were ommitted. Especially since they're so important.
(there's a REALLY HILARIOUS developer commentary video from back when it was in beta where they were talking about secret identities and how they were "kinda important" very snarky like, and that they'd have to be in the game at launch or it really wouldn't be a dc game. I just can't find the video at the moment.)
So I'm being a bit of a hypocrite in that I don't mind secret identity stuff not being in this game (after all you get 10 costume slots WOOO) but you don't get it in DCUO and that bugs me because it's DC. -
The only powerset that I think desperately needs new animations is broad sword. I tried creating a broad sword character after the titan weapons characters, because stalkers can't have titan weapons, and the animations are all so lame. it's like every single ability is the exact same animation of swinging downwards. it's that lame.
If there are any powersets that get the makeover treatment, that needs to be first on the list. Compared to everything else in the game it looks like it's still in the beta stage for animations. And I know that sounds incredibly rude and mean but I'm trying to be honest. -
This sounds awesome.
I'm picturing a "I'm melllltttiiiinngggg" death pose, a "getting shot by machine gun fire and falling backwards" emote, and of course, a "ha, I was secretly a nemesis construct all along and you've only killed the duplicate" death emote.
And with the swoon and ...there's another one I can't remember... emotes available for purchase with empyrial/astral merits, this seems more realistic than an out of the blue suggestion. -
Quote:I can't help myself, I have to say it.Indeed. Re-reading Web of Arachnos is different now.
I can't look at the Well the same way as I did the 1st time I read it.
Was much more open ended before it had a mind of it's own.
Which...
Might end up being a cool story twist if GG is right. What if someone/thing like the Battalion was controlling the upswing in activity from the Well. That it really is just raw potential. Potential that has now been co-opted.
It's all a Nemesis plot! -
I know you can convert merits into a account-wide character item that can be claimed by another character on your account, but I haven't heard of otherwise.
head to the arcane or empyrial vendor to see what I'm talking about. I don't think you can do this with threads though. -
Just thinking out loud: how much damage would a time bomb-style power have to do to make it worth it?
-
I haven't ever heard of time bomb. Is that something that would be useful when trying to catch straggler mindwashed prisoners?

Quote:It's just a simple matter of applying an actual visual cue to the debuff. We're well into the book unless you discount the first 50 levels. And five or six trials in, when we've achieved the kind of power only AVs and named NPCs can reach, we're no better off than a Hellion in Atlas Park
It's a debuff to your character that makes you weak, very weak, and it's not obvious, but should be. I'm talking full screen effects like the drunk effect in wow. That should be what's going on.
As it stands now, claiming "We're no better off than a Hellion in Atlas Park" Is wrong. That's like saying "a six-year old can beat me at hoops." Well yeah, he/she can do that if you're suffering from a sucking chest wound. It's the sucking chest wound that making you lose at HORSE, not the kid. -
I have dark miasma on my mastermind and use it to good effect via power customization to make it look like vanilla frosting. It's not quite perfect, which makes it look even more "wrong" and that works for me since my character wants it to look mutagenic, but I can see frustrations others might have with that. It was even odder before power customization, though!
I hope this is not some sort of blasphemy or disrespect, but I'd really like it if you guys in the "let's give customization to the players" department had some guys on sound customization. There's more than a few sound effects in the game that frustrate me because they're fine for what they do, they just get REAL nerve-wracking when they're on repeat so much. psychic, sonic, electric stuff are just so crazy. even the masterminds. robots are cool and put on a light show, but demons are just so TERRIBLE at karaoke. If you could, please forward that request to someone. (I know there's ways to permanently mute sound effects, but it bothers me to mod the game like that for some reason)
With regards to player options, may I please make this very simple request:
polygon-free player skin. I mean like, my character is a hovering suit of armor with nothing visible inside. There might be an aura at work, turning me into a big fireball or cloud of gas, but it would be particularly cool (and hopefully very simple) to simply "delete" the visible components of the player parts. Whether this results in an invisible (but not stealthed, cause the game's mechanics wouldn't be affected) player, or enables some new transparency effects is sorta irrelevant. New stuff like that adds value to all the "piece" costume options in the game already.
To prevent that from breaking the game in pvp, in pvp zones, the "invisible" effect would be replaced with that hologram look from the architect's default mission giver, and everyone in the pvp zones would be given a "buff" that says "you can see some invisible foes with these nifty goggles. This effect does nothing for your in-game perception mechanics, but will allow you to see players who made their costumes invisible."
In addition to all this, would it be possible to change all of the controller, dominator, blaster, and corruptor powersets to give them a very simple "gun" option for their "blast" powersets?
For example:
I create a science or tech blaster and choose fire blast/fire assault. On my powers customization, I choose "gun." then when I use those powers, instead of having the effect come out of my hand or mouth, the effect's origin comes from a gun that my character pulls out when attacking. This is not the same gun used for assault rifle powers or pulse rifle/beam rifle powers. Basically it's an alternate animation set.
What's cool is if I chose assault rifle and fire assault, I could make my fire assault powers come out of a gun, as if I was using two different kinds of guns.
I'm aware that you wouldn't be able to customize the gun that much, but the concept is cool and it would be a nice step in the right direction for players that don't want flames coming out of their hands. -
I have to agree with VoodooGirl here, it's not their job to warn users that you are capable of buying the weapon skins pack while it's free without buying the stuff that's required to use it.
Not only is this contrary to their profit, it will only serve to confuse their customers even further. Just because YOU are smarter doesn't mean they are. Plenty of people would be upset that they were told to buy this "weapon pack" and they can't use it until they buy titan weapons.
I'm fairly certain they're revamping the pack so that the players who missed that opportunity don't buy it by mistake thinking they're getting titan weapons. It would be an AWFUL shame for players to actually PAY for the weapon pack thinking they'd be able to use it somehow without purchasing titan weapons first. -
what if it bypasses the limiters?
Supposing this allows you to go beyond the 5 rage limit per attack or the hardcapped lower numbers as you approach 80 rage. would it then be worthwhile? -
Quote:This is such a stupid argument.Catch up how....? By buying more packs? *laughs* Gah. The more I think about it the more repellant this entire concept becomes.
Have you not been purchasing costume packs?
Have you created a character, spent money on costume parts, and then edited that character's costume to add those costume parts?
If you're so gung-ho desperate to get ONE costume piece, and you are cursed, and you open up 50 ****zillion packs and don't get it, you're obviously willing to buy a few more packs to finally get that piece you want. I'm saying it's important that you don't have to delete and recreate your character to take advantage of "finally" getting that last piece.
It's important that you CAN buy packs over time rather than shelling out a massive lump sum all at once. that changes the dynamic.
If the only way to get a subscription to this game was to shell out the cash quarterly, or yearly, it would not have as many subscribers. $15 a month is easier for some people to pay than a 6 month sub even with a discount figured in.
