  2. I loved the fact that I was able to join in on my first raid last night on Virtue with my VG. My stalker was just level 19. Now I may not contribute as much as a 50, but I wasn't there for that purpose anyway. It was a VG event that was FUN and EPIC! The fact that I wasn't going to get merits was ok with me, because now that I've had a taste of the event, I want more! That is just more incentive to keep going to hit that level 35 and higher... But I don't think you should lock people out of it, especially when it promotes supergroup activities.

And I keep seeing that anybody below 35 that doesn't have the badge doesn't get the merits. Well you are all wrong. It may be a bug, but I received 10 Van. Merits last night, I assume when my team successfully planted a bomb. Now that is small potatoes compared to the full amount of 400+ people normally get, but when you need just 100 to get that special weapon, maybe it is worth it to lowbies to participate to get their custom stuff early.
  3. Is this still going on? If so, I may be interested in joining...

  5. That's great you can see them for the last 180 days. What about the rest of them, and why is it that the billing page and account page can't get on the same sheet of music?

Here is an abbreviated example of my account page:

If one page can get it right, why not the other? And remember, the billing page is for ALL NC Soft products, not just one CoX account. So if you have 2 CoX accounts and you bought 2 Ninja boosters (one for each account), they both would show up properly in the billing area, but the accounts would still only show "perk" once applied. No big deal if that is all you bought that day, but what if you bought an additional pack or group of character slots. Now you can't just go by the date to see which of your accounts you have already applied what to.
  6. Again, it's poor site design that makes this above workaround almost a necessary solution. Don't keep wiping up the blood without first stitching up the wound, because it's a waste of time and effort.
  7. I agree with the OP. I don't understand why I have "PERK" instead of the name of the item purchased and applied, yet it will show me the last 4 numbers of that particular item code. I get the feeling that it is a half-finished, UNPROFESSIONAL attempt at creating a billing and purchasing site.

I personally like to have an ACCURATE, itemized list of all services or products I purchase. What would you say if your bank statements starting coming back to you with generic entries that just said "Transaction" that didn't give you any more information (including monetary amount!) so you can't verify and check off against your own records what has cleared and what hasn't?
To me, that is just shoddy business.

    Account codes.

What if you have bought the goodies from the GvsE pack separately and then wanted to add the full version of it later. Would that work?

I agree with you that fun should be the deciding factor when playing a game. I know I sure wouldn't be playing a game that exactly mimics my everyday workday!

But my point is this: Uninformed buyers, impulse buyers, gift buyers will be more likely to purchase or try out CO if it is perceived that that game is a sequel to ours, and not just a new competition. And if they don't like it, and are still under that assumption, what reason will they have to try out our older, less-advanced prequel to CO? They will shy away from it.

I've seen this happen myself in the aisles of Best Buy, Wally-world, etc. I cringe every time that it happens, but I will not fool myself into disbelieving it. Consumers, for the most part, are being led by the nose-ring like cattle, to the products that are labeled "NEW!! IMPROVED!!" I believe that NCSoft's marketing has got to do something visible to distance itself from CO in order for us to be able to draw in newer customers.

Read this thread, then read all 9+ pages at the MMORPG site that this thread links to. You will see supposedly knowledgeable players making that same mistaken assumption that CO is just CoX2. With new players coming into this industry with no knowledge whatsoever, except for what their "informed" friends "know" and tell them, then that group to which you refer to is probably very small.
  11. I think the OP has a valid concern. CoX is a niche game; fantasy and, secondly, sci-fi MMORPGs are the more visible games and genres. A lot of the MMORPG player base has not even tried our game here, much less played for any length of time. They see a new (OOOOOO Shiney!!) CO game that came out, has the same developer name as ours (Cryptic), and people being dumb and gullible as they are, immediately assume that it is the successor to us. And because it is new, it just HAS to be better, right?

Uninformed perception is one of humanities worst failings, IMO. People will often take the path of least resistance in whatever they do, if it involves less of our time or trouble. Don't believe me? Just read through the forums here, especially a thread that is more than a couple of pages long. You will inevitably see somebody commenting or replying that admits they haven't read all the previous posts, but are more than willing to add their two cents on the topic.

My point (after a lot of rambling): the general gaming populace will NOT (again, my opinion) take the time to research or try out both games for a decent amount of time to determine which is the turd and which is the gem. Most will opt for the new "shiney" that is perceived to be a sequel that HAS to be better than the original. Now I'm not talking about old customers that played CoX before, but brand new customers, people that we need to be bringing here. The Architect edition helped with that, but I think NCSoft had better come up with a good plan to place it foremost in the face of every new potential MMORPG player that is in the market for a new game to play. Our dev team is one of the best out there, but if the general gaming populace is unaware of our virtues and "win", we will continue to struggle and lose new potential customers to those other games.
  12. Is anybody else having difficulty getting characters copied over to the test server? I swear, It has been like 3 hours and mine still haven't shown up...

    Burn/Ice Patch

I still have to say I'm fairly disappointed with this combo as it stands. I'm running alot of Crey right now (mid 30's), and Ice Patch/Burn is the only trick I have at this point. Everything else is geared towards defense and damage resistance. This could be my fault, and that I need to respec him again, but I think if I just teamed up with an AoE lockdown specialist I'd be much happier. But then that negates the whole reason for Ice Patch.

IMO, IP would need to have a larger radius to make it useful for this build. Too many mobs have enough speed to reach the outer edge of it, egged on by Burn's fear, so that you are constantly jockeying around, trying to gather up your mobs into a Burn patch again, all the while you are taking more damage because they are not all flopping around like bass in the bottom of your boat.

If you have some mates to regularly run around with, I would suggest what ever secondary you want paired with FA, as long as you can team up with a decent controller.

    Have fun!

This IS the thread to which I was referring that started in the beta forums and then got moved to the market forum, unknown to me. Thanks; I've been looking for this thread for a while now (I had forgotten to subscribe to it.)

Lots of hard data there already to back up the players' claims...
  17. Forgive me, but wasn't there a similar thread in the open beta forums, with BOATLOADS of data already collected for just this purpose about this same problem?

I'll be happy to contribute, if it takes even more data to shine the light on this problem. But I have to admit to being just a little frustrated already...

People have been typically labeling this as something wrong with drop rates, whereas it could very well be an unintended side-effect of the SSK system. If the devs looked at the data concerning drop rates and saw that, overall, the numbers were in the right area, of course they'd say that drop rates are fine. Because if what some people think is happening actually is happening, those drops are being awarded ... to phantom teammates due to the game seeing a solo player fighting 6-man spawns as a team of 6 players and dispersing drops as it normally would in a team situation.
I'm seeing reduced rates soloing, like usual, at +0/+0, or IOW, the old Heroic. I've received 1/3 to 1/2 of my normal drops for both salvage and recipes. It isn't just an increased difficulty setting, but it may have to do with the mechanics in general.
  19. My level 27 blaster had not yet received the Oro power, but I wanted to see if I could still access the Oro missions through my SG's Pillar of Flame, so I could grab a few missed badges. After clicking on it in the base, my game locked up, except for the mouse fortunately, and I had to kill the game with the task manager.

    Has anybody else encountered this?

    I love this one:

You have to let the Paladin be completed so you can defeat him for the badge. Stop attacking the construct!!!

    Level Indicator

Well, I guess the same could have been said about the level indicator. Why not just open up your ID? The point is now they borked over one feature by just plunking the level indicator over the supergroup emblem if you are in supergroup mode. Neither of these features is a necessity, but a little forethought (on the dev's part) would have been nice.
  22. Basically, we are talking about a quality of life issue here. It is not absolutely necessary, but it would be nice if we had this. I personally would be grateful to have either something like this or a supergroup base item that does this. The big 800 lb fantasy MMORPG gorilla has an ingame mail system that allows easy transfers among your characters on that server and I love that.

It would be something nice, not a necessity, so if it would come on the devs radar, it might be real low on their list. Who knows?

I like this idea, or maybe even color the level number itself to let you know whether you are in SG mode or not. I mean, this is no game-breaking thing, but it would be nice to be able to see both things clearly.

    Level Indicator

When I first logged into live, post I-16, I was pleased to see that we now have a level indicator in the center of our experience meter.

Then I looked again, and really couldn't tell if I was in supergroup mode or not; my level was effectively blocking the supergroup's symbol. I searched through our newly revamped Options menu, in vain, for a toggle to turn on or off the level number. It seems that the devs have implemented a nice QoL change, only to have messed up a different QoL.

Does anybody have some fresh ideas how to fix/change this, or am I just blind? Speak up!
