Level Indicator

When I first logged into live, post I-16, I was pleased to see that we now have a level indicator in the center of our experience meter.

Then I looked again, and really couldn't tell if I was in supergroup mode or not; my level was effectively blocking the supergroup's symbol. I searched through our newly revamped Options menu, in vain, for a toggle to turn on or off the level number. It seems that the devs have implemented a nice QoL change, only to have messed up a different QoL.

Does anybody have some fresh ideas how to fix/change this, or am I just blind? Speak up!

Made mention of this during the beta, as well. It's better with some symbols than others (say, the "anarchy" one, where at least you have points above and below the number.

That said, there are a few possible ways of dealing with it I could see:
- Allow the level to be turned on or off. (Honestly, I've /t (self), $level or checked the SG window for a long time.)
- Along with that, have the level available in the attributes monitor window.
- Have the ring around the number color in one of the SG colors (or two rings, two colors) when in SG mode.
- Have an "SG mode" indicator in with all the other buff icons.

I like this idea, or maybe even color the level number itself to let you know whether you are in SG mode or not. I mean, this is no game-breaking thing, but it would be nice to be able to see both things clearly.

I would like an option to make it part of the tool tip that appears when you mouse-over the exp bar.

Being able to color the number to match SG, or coloring the SG icon behind the number, would be my second choice.

i know this is going to sound bad, but why not just open the sg window and check. the buton at the top indicates if you are in sg mode or not by saying either enter sg mode or exit sg mode. no snark meant in this comment.

Well, I guess the same could have been said about the level indicator. Why not just open up your ID? The point is now they borked over one feature by just plunking the level indicator over the supergroup emblem if you are in supergroup mode. Neither of these features is a necessity, but a little forethought (on the dev's part) would have been nice.

Actually I agree that it's an unnecessary action to open the SG window. We didn't need to before and we still don't for some SG logos, as Bill indicated.

I think the color ring would be best as the level indicator is applicable (not needed or even necessarily wanted, but applicable) to everyone pre-50 and the SG Mode indicator is only applicable to those in SGs. I would think the one with wider applicability, in this case the level indicator, should be the more easily discernible.

As an alternative to the color ring, it might be nice to allow for windows to be colored differently when in SG mode (likely pretty complex to code and not worth it) or for the SG name/symbol to be shown below the control bar (health/end/xp/menu/buff icons).

One wacky idea (that would really suck for long SG names) would be to replace the "Super Group" window text on the chat window menu with the SG name when in SG mode. Read "wacky" as really bad and stupid; I'm only putting it in here because I'm in a wacky mood and think levity is worth it.

Another alternative that would be really nice is for them to implement back logos for costumes like the chest logos. Then people could put the SG logo on their back when in SG mode, but people who aren't in SGs could still use it for their costume.

Lots and lots of options.

You could always defeat something and check the rewards for Prestige earned.

well heres the problem, if your not in sg mode you need to open the window anyways to enter it or vise versa. i'm not saying that you shouldn't be able to pick what is displayed, just that it is easy enough to open a window that you may have to anyways.

Out of curiosity (since I didn't run one on test, and haven't run any since yesterday,) does the level indicator also block, say, the Ouro and SF/TF indicators? If so... that'd be another reason to look into either moving/being able to turn off the level indicator.

I think the solution for this should be flashing red text above your toon's head that says "You are in SG mode!" every 5 seconds.

Or, a solution that'd make a little sense: Fade between the different symbols in that circle. Show your level, then fade to the SG symbol, and fade to the TF/SF symbol (and change the color of your level to show if you've leveled up, lked, or exemplared). Long as there's a gentle fade it shouldn't be visually distracted.

I like this idea best.

That's not a bad idea. I think I could get behind that.

Yeah this was kind of the only thing I didn't like about having my level showing. Actually I'd rather have it be a toggle in your Options area, whether you see it at all over sg/tf activity there.

A very elegant solution

Actually, I don't think we'll be losing our level number from the health window circle. With Super Sidekicking now making levels vary wildly and beyond your control (especially if you opt out of the warning countdown), having a level number where you can always see it, even if you don't think you need to, is actually something that seems integral.

The level indicator shows the level you are fighting at - if you SSK, it will show your effective level, not your real level. Your ID does not do this.

I'd still like the option to turn the indicator off.

Small thing I know but its bugging me. I too, searched for a while looking for the option.

Not that distracting, I just don't like being visually reminded that I'm only level 13...
