Quote:Good points, but wouldn't having a defender run by an actual player along provide you with an increased level of performance? How much faster would you be with, say, an Empathy defender buffing you with Fortitude, running Assault and keeping your green bar topped off? What would an extra 50% damage and 20% defense at all times do for you?Just a data point for what has become a discussion of what do defenders bring to teams and can they be replaced by set bonuses ?
Prior to I16 I spent much of my time soloing positron on my fire/ment blaster. It was a challenge to see how fast it could be done and let me save up merits to build my toons.
My blaster is built for defense at that level. At level 15 she has about 30% ranged defense and 18 or so energy/ negative energy. I went and built a bubbler to team with her and see if I could increase the speed I was getting the tf done. It turns out that bringing the bubbler around just slowed the overall progress. 30% ranged defence and defiance was usually enough to deal with any Mez that was getting through to me on this task and the need to trade inspirations from the bubbler to the blaster just slowed things down. -
I could never put up with such a waste of time, effort and inf. It is much cheaper to slot level 15, 25, and 35 IO's while leveling than to play the SO game. I've been using almost nothing but IO's since I started playing back in issue 11.

Sad to see they still haven't fixed the problem with Jack spawning.

Quote:Sure you can get two purple drops on two different toons on the same farm. You could also have gotten two purple drops on one toon solo on the same farm. It doesn't matter whether you are defeating 1000 enemies with 1 toon or 3 toons or 8 toons. You still only get 1000 drop chances. So, i can't get 2 purps to drop on the same farm, on diff toons? I see what you're saying but if 2 can drop on the same farm, on diff toons i think it'd be worth having seeing as that i've never gotten 2 purps to drop while solo'ing.
And for the record, I have gotten 3 purple drops on one LGTF run on a single toon. Of course it was 2 Fortunata Hypnosis and a Coercive Persuasion, back when they were worth less than a million each. -

The total number of enemies is going to vary depending on the ratio of minions, LT's and bosses that are generated for each group. A group that spawns all LT's will not have as many enemies as if that same group consisted of all minions, to use an extreme example.

Quote:It's especially fun when playing a scrapper pre-status protection and getting a whole mission of nothing but Lost bosses.I do think this isn't a case of whining, and seriously is something that isn't WAI. I had this problem when I was testing out one of my arcs. Bosses were spawning an awful lot. Like, every spawn would be a pair of bosses. Or a boss and two minions or something.
And as Sam said, this is on x2 spawning. Having Bosses spawn at all is nice; From Time to Time. ALL the time, and it just gets to be a drag.
I love the new diff settings. But I do notice sometimes it gets itself in a knot. -

Quote:I love it.. Players complain left & right that the servers are overloaded, laggy, they get locked out on 2xp, etc. Now, when the server hardware gets upgraded on the busiest servers, they complain that the servers aren't overloaded, laggy and locked out for 2xp.the servers never got redlined, Freedom or Virtue. i played from friday to monday only taking short breaks and a few naps and the servers never went red. last 2xp if you logged out you had to wait at least 30 min to log back in because the servers we full. last 2xp i played on triumph because my main server was full most most of the time.
teams are harder to find mid lvl than a few months back because there arent as many people online. yesturday during peak times there were 8 people in PO on vills freedom server. -
Quote:That's because the XP is being divided among all players on the team. 4 players on team = less XP per player for each defeat. That is working as intended, and has always been that way.Team size was set to 8 man +2 with bosses .. mobs identical.. xp for minions, lt's n bosses should have remained the same. in all 3 missions, was repeated so call it a farm, done 3 times.
If anything my friends xp should have remained identical instead it was reduced untill the lowbies left.
maybe someone can test it, i dont know.. seems to be formular curve still being applied in some ways.

I have plenty of alts, because like many others, I enjoy trying out new powerset combinations & concepts. But at the same time, I also continue to regularly play my main level 50's. I believe it took me about 3 months to hit 50 on my first character. I still play that character now, 15 months later. Most of my in-game friends are the same way. I think you are making a bit of a mistake in assuming it has to be one way or the other.

Quote:Let's see if we can fix that up a bit, then..Thanks for helping guys!
And yes, the market forums are very helpful, but it's hard to ask questions in some places, like I had a thread going about my controller where I got like 8 bad rep pings just for simply trying to learn.
There seems to be a lot of -neg rep being thrown around lately, by the usual passive/agressive forum types who don't want to actually come out into the open and respond in a thread. (And yes, I'm sure I'll get -neg repped for this thread too!)

Quote:In my opinion, if you are looking for merits, you would be much better off running Taskforces, rather than regular story arcs. TF's are balanced around 20 merits/hour vs. only 8/hour for story arcs, and it is generally pretty easy to exceed the 'average' rate by a comfortable margin. Yes, you'll need a team for that, but every server tends to have groups of players that love running TF's. Check out your server's global channels and you should have no trouble finding teams for regular TF runs. If you're on Protector, Protector Watch is a good channel for TF teams.Hanks for the extremely helpful advice, its also always pretty good to hear a strtegy that starts with, "just forget AE". As to picking a story arc, what constitutes a good one?
Like how Manu missions, how many merits awarded per, etc. Thanks a million!!
You'll still be far better off by learning to identify a few profitable market niches to work on. As you've already noticed, there are plenty of recipes out there that can be purchased, crafted and resold for nice profits. It is extremely easy to earn millions a day this way for only a few minutes of time invested. The market is a great tool, even if you do nothing more than use it for selling drops, provided you spend even a minimum amount of effort to learn how it works. -

A full set of Touch of Death provides ED-capped damage, while a full set of Mako's only provides about 85% damage enhancement at level 38. Mako has slightly more accuracy and recharge however.
ToD
Accuracy: 42.53%
Damage: 96.3%
Endurance: 61.43%
Recharge: 42.53%
Mako
Accuracy: 59.06%
Damage: 85.67%
Endurance: 59.06%
Recharge: 59.06% -
You can buy the recipes or crafted enhancements from WW/BM, or you can buy the recipes from any crafting table for a fixed price. It is generally cheaper to get the recipes off the auction house. I generally start slotting IO's once level 15's are usable, as they are equivalent to a DO, and never degrade in performance. After that, I will slot 25's, then once I hit the 30's I will begin slotting IO sets or level 35 common IO's.

Couple of minor corrections:
Quote:Web Grenade's -recharge does not stack.Web Grenade - you have to take it, but it's a nice immobilise and also has a -recharge component, which can stack if you spam it.
RechargeTime -50% for 15s [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs]
Effect does not stack from same caster
Quote:Seeker Drones are really nice for two uses - taking alphas and debuffing to-hit and damage. Even without Bots, I still view this power as skipable, because unlike Poison Trap's Hold, the to-hit and -dam can be resisted (by the PToD), which limits its usefulness against AVs and EB where you really need the debuffs.

Quote:A little tip on playing /Traps: it is a stationary set. For the most part, a /Traps MM sets up a killing field (Trip Mines, Poison Traps, Acid Mortar, probably some Caltrops) and then lures enemies into it. A /Traps MM makes a fort, then defends that fort. And once the /Traps MM is fully dug in, you're a powerhouse. Moving around a lot really diminishes the power of Traps. -

Quote:Simple question for you: Do you feel that every AT and powerset combination in the game should be able to handle every difficulty level and every situation with equal success?IOs exist to make characters able to take challenges. That's why the game is not balanced or designed around IOs. At the base game, the need for mez protection on all characters is much less. For the challenge game, the expanded difficulty options, that is precisely what IOs are for.

Quote:I have a number of rather heavily IO'd builds, including purples. I have even more characters that are not. Guess what? Both types are fun to play. The level of difference between the two is much smaller than you make it out to be. A good player, with a well thought-out SO build will outperform a bad player with a poorly constructed build any day of the week, no matter how many billions the bad player spends on purples for his gimped build. To simply say the game is still functional or you can still play the game without these items totally misleads people into believeing the quality of gameplay stays the same.
Quote:It does make a difference when your teamed with someone on a mission that you yourself have but they are able to handle the mission much better because of high end loot.
1. a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.
Quote:It does make a difference when you try to team with people but you can't because your build is too weak. -
Quote:So let me see if I understand this correctly. You are able to handle almost any enemy group in the game at x4, a setting which never existed prior to this issue, and which the devs have described as a setting for players that want a "challenge", and now you ask for the game mechanics to be changed to make it easier for you because of one enemy group?Yes. As previously stated, x4 is only a problem with heavy-mezzing Longbow. Rikti don't mez as much as Longbow does; this Corruptor can run against Rikti at x4 with little difficulty.
Yep. Perfectly logical. -
