Quote:Hopefully this will help.Excuse woeful ignorance, but like I say I just can't find a source divulging who what where when and how. Even Paragonwiki tells you next to nothing about how these things work.
Quote:Info on the Alignment Clubs and Merits[/B][/U]
- Finding the Clubs: Go to Trident Base in Atlas Park or The Crucible in Cap au Diable. Check your mini-map -- they're marked as a green dot (gate icon).
- Admittance: This is the reward for remaining (or becoming) a true Hero or Villain. The only toons excluded are those currently Vigilante or Rogue.
- Alignment Merits (A-Merits)
- Do not confuse them. They are a new type of Merits not to be confused with Reward Merits (completing arcs, Task Forces, Raids, killing Giant Monsters) or Vanguard Merits (killing Rikti once you've been initiated into the Vanguard).
- How to get A-Merits:
- Do a Morality Mission. A Hero Morality Mission will give you a Hero Merit and a Villain Morality Mission will give you a Villain Merit. The very first time, though, you will get 50 Reward Merits... after that, one A-Merit. Note that it takes 10 morality points to get a Morality Mission and you can only get 5 morality points per day, thus, you can only get an A-Merit reward this way once every other day.
Note: Since Rogues and Vigilantes are not eligible for A-Merits, when they do a Rogue or Vigilante Morality Mission, they get 30 Reward Merits the first time they do a Rogue or Vigilante Morality Mission and then 60 Merits every time after that.
- Buy one. Go to the A-Merit Vendor in the Alignment Club and trade in 20,000,000 INF + 50 Reward Merits and buy one A-Merit. You can only do this once per day.
- A-Merit Vendors:
- Trident: See B.O.T.L.E.R. and click on the box next to him.
- Crucible: See the Trashman and click on the trash can next to him.
- What do Alignment Merits Buy?
- All IO Sets
- Most common to rare recipes are 1 A-Merit each recipe within the Set
- Unique and Special rare recipes are 2 A-Merits each
- Purple Ultra Rare recipes are 20 A-Merits each
- PvP Recipes: 25-35 A-Merits each
- Costume Pieces: 1 A-Merit (almost always more efficient to buy these on the Market)
- Respec Recipe: 10 A-Merits
- Reward Rolls
- Random Salvage Roll: Divided by Arcane v. Tech and two level ranges (10-25 v. 26-40). You get 8 pieces for 1 A-Merit
- Random Rare Recipe Roll: Divided into tiers of 5 levels (10-14; 15-19; etc...). You get 5 recipes for 1 A-Merit
- NPCs and Teleporters: The NPCs in the clubs have a portal that take you the Task/Strike force they or their sidekick gives out.
- Trident: The Freedom Phalanx take you to their respective TFs: Positron, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Citadel, Manticore, Numina, Statesman.
- Crucible: Recluse's Lieutenants don't have their own Strike Force, but they teleport you to their sidekick's or related NPC's Strike Force:
- Arbiter Rein -> Operative Renault (Sharkhead SF)
- Mako -> Barracuda
- Ghost Widow -> Lord Recluse
- Sirocco -> Ice Mistral
- Black Scorpion -> Silver Mantis

What difficulty are you running on? Do you have bosses turned on? The tips drop randomly. The more enemies you defeat, you more chance you have to get a tip. Boss level enemies have a much greater chance of dropping tips than minions and LT's.
-
Yes, Hero/Villain merits drop normally after the first 50 reward merits.

Is it really that hard to click on the Invulnerability powers in-game and look at the detailed info tab? If you can't even figure out what your own character's powers do, maybe farming isn't for you.
-
Quote:Just to be clear, Mids' shows the suppressed defense value only in the Info window for the power itself. It still uses the unsuppressed value when looking at the Totals tab. You have to manually calculate the correct total value.Poster up there says Mid's now shows the total suppressed defense in defense powers that can be suppressed. If so, then I should still be at the same defense levels in combat.
In your last posted build it shows a total positional defense of 49/58/49 with Cloaking Device. That includes the UNSUPPRESSED defense from Cloak. Your actual defense in combat would be 37.5/46.2/37.5 plus 5.88 from Cloaking Device (suppressed value) for a total of 43.8/52/43.8.
Hope that clears things up. -
Quote:This. If you don't wanna invest too much in a farmer, I suggest rolling a SS/WP Brute or Fire/Kin Controller. Both do fairly well with cheap builds or just SOs alone. If you're willing to spend more, I would go with a SS/Fire Brute.
OP: Fire/Shield or Elec/Shield are both going to be expensive builds. Either of those will be in the billion+ ballpark for a good build that will farm quickly at x8.
I'm not a Fire/Kin fan. The playstyle really doesn't work for me. But, it's still a great fast & cheap farming toon. For 100 million or less, you can have a Fire/Kin that is softcapped to S/L damage, and will work very well.
Another option, that makes both a great general purpose toon as well as an excellent farmer, is a Fire/Rad controller. Unfortunately, like Shield scrappers, it's a fairly expensive build to make work well. -
Here's a thought.. In Issue 16 they added a 20% XP bonus to low levels, to address the low-level, pre-Fitness 'grind'.
Quote:Now that all players are going to start out with Fitness straightaway, does it make sense to remove the 20% XP bonus at low levels? To go along with our new changes to sidekicking and exemplaring, we've made some adjustments to the experience awarded from minions, lieutenants and bosses in the level 5 to 24 range. In short these enemies are on average receiving a 20% experience and influence increase. This will slightly speed up the pace at which heroes and villains advance through the 5 to 24 range. -
My reply wasn't directed at you, Uber. I should have clarified that when I posted it. Now, having said that, I agree this change will obviously have the largest impact on those players without Fitness and all players pre-20. It'll still have a very significant impact at the high end, even with the lack of slots. I know I have already thought of several ways to take advantage of this on high-level builds, and I'm pretty confident I am not the only one to do so...

Quote:Yep. Anyone who doesn't think this is going to add even more power creep to the game & allow more min/maxing has probably never used an IO or increased their difficulty above the default. You crazy! This is going to be a huge change for people who take Health and Stamina, this will allow for much greater build flexibility and a huge increase in min/maxing, I already see how this is going to drastically change my dark/shield's build. I'll be able to increase my global recharge by at least 15% over my current build while keeping all of its survivability.

Quote:I will relate a similar, but somewhat more annoying experience related to leveling up and tip missions. I was at level 29, and fairly close to leveling up to 30 when I entered the Hero Morality mission. During the mission I leveled up to 30 on the very final defeat objective which also completed the mission. I received no alignment credit for completing the mission. My alignment bar stayed full at 10 points, and I didn't receive a Hero Merit either. I can only assume this has something to do with the level ranges for the missions themselves (20-29, 30-39, etc.)I was playing on a level 29 - 30 Blaster. I had just gone to Dark Astoria to farm up three tip missions. Once I had them, I took all three of them in Talos Island, confirmed that they were on my active missions, and entered one of them. While in that mission, I levelled to 30.
When I exited the first tip mission, the other two missions had vanished from my list. So had the tips, so I could not retake them. -
Quote:If Rage is stacked, then you don't suffer the defense debuff. You still get the -damage effect and the endurance loss, but your defense is not affected.I want to restate that Rage has a REALLY nasty defence debuff when it crashes that's really not evident unless you know to look for it specifically. It may or may not say so in the power description, but I know it's easy to miss in actual practice, especially if you're used to "perma Rage." Remember - perma Rage is not perma, it's just stacking the thing - you still suffer the crash, and if you've put it on Auto, WHEN you suffer the crash can be out of your control.
-
You couldn't solve this entire issue simply by opening a second bank account in the same country that you live in? This seems like it would be a fairly easy way to solve the problem.
-
The 5.5% is suppressed. Unsuppressed it is about 11% defense. The power Info window in Mids' now shows the suppressed value of any defense powers that are affected by suppression. The Effects and Totals windows still show the unsuppressed values so you'll need to manually figure in the correct value when totalling everything up, but at least it shows you the suppressed value now.
-
Well, just off the top of my head, you could save about 2 billion influence by taking Cloaking Device and dropping the Glad +def IO. Cloaking Device is about 5.5% defense to all except Psi damage.

Quote:It's been suggested multiple times because it's a damn good idea that makes total thematic sense. And as a player that's been here for over 2 years, whose very first character was a Blaster, I'd suggest that you're the one who is missing the point of Blaster secondaries. It's been suggested, and shot down, multiple times because it's a horrible idea made by players that don't have the first clue about what the blaster secondary sets are designed for.
Blaster AT description: The Blaster is an offensive juggernaut. This hero can deal a ton of damage from either a distance or up-close, but he must be careful because he's somewhat fragile compared to other heroes. The Blaster can't stand toe to toe with most opponents for long. His best defense is a great offense!
Nowhere in that description does it say anything about ranged vs. melee. It simply says DAMAGE.
Quote:They have, however, expressed the opinion that the melee heavy Energy Manipulation is an aberration within the blaster secondary sets and, and that any future manipulation sets will be based more on the Psionic Manipulation model with limited straight melee attacks, more ranged attacks, and a greater focus on soft-controls. It has been stated that due to the cottage rule, Energy Manipulation won't likely be revamped to make it into more of a manipulation set.
Quote:So, if you can come up with a manipulation set that only has at most three straight damage attacks
Quote:at least one ranged attack
Quote:maybe a weak stun / damage pbaoe
Quote:some soft control, has an immobilize for the first power that has to be taken, and includes build-up, then hey, feel free to pitch something that features a punch and a kick at it's base.
On a side note, and keep in mind I have no bone to pick here, I've never seen a poster that tries so hard to sound like they know what they're talking about, but is so completely wrong on so many topics. Using the 'devs said this' argument from authority to try and make silly statements sound better is just the icing on the cake... -
This is true, but slightly more complex. You cannot have more Tip missions than you have available Fame Point slots. So, if you have completed 3 Tips and have 2 open Fame Points, you won't be able to get more than 2 Tips.
-
Quote:Well, I'm happy to tell you that there is an easy solution for you if the game has nothing to offer you:I don't like any of the GR crap, the best stuff they released was free issue 18 stuff and there wasn't a lot of that either.
I know people are gonna be butthurt about my post cause lolCoHfanboys but seriously this game and it's developers have nothing to offer anymore.

To be fair, Traps does have a buff that affects both the MM and the pets: Force Field Generator. It just doesn't require nearly as much casting as others.

Quote:I'd put them very close to each other in terms of AOE ability. Crabs have a slight advantage though. If they really want to go all-out AOE, a Crab can take Suppression, Venom Grenade, Frag Grenade, and then tack on Heavy Burst from the Soldier pool. That gives them 4 attacks vs. the Huntsman with Heavy Burst, Venom & Frag. From my experience playing a Huntsman though, I've found that Web Grenade, Venom, Burst & Frag is more than enough when combined with the 30% damage bonus from double Assault running. Gets even better with Bile Spray once PPP's are unlocked. Thanks for the thoughts. What about in terms of gameplay effectiveness?
I think where Crabs will have the advantage is if they build for survivability or take the perma-pet route with the Disruptors, Spiderlings and Blaster.
Not to imply that a Huntsman build lacks survivability. Mine is more than capable of running off alone during ITF's and completing objectives without support. But a Crab with Fortification and Serum is going to pull ahead in that area without doubt. -
Quote:How often does that situation REALLY occur though? Is your position that it occurs quite frequently, or that it doesn't matter how rarely it occurs, it still justifies having Rest available on demand?I'm on a low-level SR Brute, soloing through a mission. Thanks to defense debuffs and constantly-spawning +1s, it's a tough, but manageable fight. After one such encounter, I'm all out of endurance, so I take a knee and Rest it back to full. Now that I'm ready for the next mob, I run in and...nearly get creamed thanks to that Lieutenant, but I just managed it.
So here I am, at 25% health. Rest is still on cooldown, and none of my remaining inspirations can be combined into a green. What do? Moving forward is suicide, running to get inspirations is equally time-consuming and annoying thanks to my contact being a zone or two away (and who knows how bad that would be if I didn't have Ninja Run).
Despite this being sort of going around in circles here, I'll once again point out that there are already several existing ways to help a player manage their endurance to reduce the need to use Rest to replenish endurance. That lets a player keep Rest in reserve for topping off health, provided they don't have a self-heal available to them. Even a small amount of endurance reduction slotted into attacks goes a long way to keeping endurance use under control. Slotting end reduction is pretty much Brute 101.
