Yeah - most tv shows and movies look like they're using the same engine
[/ QUOTE ]
They probably are. You can count on one hand the number of production quality renderers that are out there. RenderMan, V-Ray, mental ray, and Brazil are a few examples.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was meaning that real life does tend to look alike
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but movies don't look alike. They have a style, determined by the art direction.
Batman
Batman and Robin
Dark Night
Superman Returns
Iron Man
The Matrix
Do these movies look alike?
At one time the look of a computer game was at least partially determined by the capabilities of the engine. Then engines started to aproach photorealism, and games started to all look alike. Now game developers have discovered they need art direction in order to make thier game stand out. -

'Hey, can I have your permission to ask you if you'd like to come and watch the footy?'
[/ QUOTE ]
I would expect a friend to phone first, rather than just turn up on the doorstep expecting to use my TV and beer, yes.

Clearly if you've flagged yourself as 'looking for any team' you don't much mind what the team is doing.
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you rive at that conclusion? Last time I looked the flag didn't include options for no farms/no newspaper missions/no power levelers/not teams where I would be exemplared etc. There are a whole load of qualifications that would affect wether you choose to join a team or not. But I think the main one is "yes I want a team, but I might not want to team with you". -

Estimating in excess of 300 million for the one melee set
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, but the mez type purple sets are much cheeper, and the set bonuses are just as good. -

The OP tried to plea for the blind invite method getting more accepted
[/ QUOTE ]
No he didn't. He just insulted all players who don't like blind invites. -

1) I know it has been said that you can choose the villain group in missions, but can you choose the power group for boss entities? Eg - I dont want to fight a Longbow Warden, I want to make a custom boss character for the mission boss, and make him have storm summoning and gravity control, is this do-able?
[/ QUOTE ]
The way I think it will work (if you don't use a standard boss) is you can create your bosses apperance in the costume editor, and select an "off the peg" set of powers from a menu. that will probably include the powers for most of the in game mobs (at least those that WAI and aren't costume dependant), plus some specially created for the MA.
Rumour suggests you might be able to create "custom factions" too i.e. minions and lts.
[ QUOTE ]
2) Can their be 2 (or more) enemy groups on a mission map?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm reasonably sure the answer is yes, I seem to remember a dev mentioning it.

5) At the minute the IO Set's are in pools of rarity. Is there any chance we get to select the pool of rarity for our mission/story arc?

As for shoehorning a graphics upgrade into the current engine (which was amaturishly designed in the first instance and is now held together with spitballs and chewing gum), it would actully be easier to take a functioning game engine with decient graphics and shoehorn the CoX gameplay into that.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem as I see it, is that then the game would look like the game engine, instead of looking like what it was wanted to be. Of course, practicality tends to spoil dreams. The reason why games tend to look too similar to my eye these days is because they share game engines.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is only a problem if you try to make your graphics as photorealistic as the engine alows, and it isn't just a problem for games using the same engine. There is natuarally a tendency for graphics engines to converge as they approach reality.
CO, DCUO and SWTOR are all trying to avoid this by using a stylised art style, and/or post-processing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sounds like utter guff, unless it is indeed intended for use as a 'Side-changer' feature.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was. Hence the "Reformed" name.
When they created CoV, they did it with the idea that they would like to implement "going rogue" at some point in the future, that is why most of the villain only badges have hero names. -
Acording to both in game info, Red Tomax and Mids, Clobber now does about 30% more damage than Shatter.
Shatter remains an AoE though, and I seem to remember it's arc got widened in issue 13. -
They didn't move the MA to issue 14. They moved what they where working on for issue 14 to issue 15, and created a new issue 14.
Oh, and we know for a fact that NorCal are working on something else besides CoX. There have been jobs advertised for an "unanounced title" for one thing.
There are only two options: 1) CoX2; 2) A completely original MMO. Given NCSoft's record on realsing original IP MMOs, they would really be pretty stupid to try and push out yet another title that didn't have an established IP. What IP do we know NCSoft have reciently payed a lot of money for?

Sure, I played a Shield/WM tanker quite extensively when issue 13 was on test, and WM rocks.
-
I have to say, I think Massively is absolutely correct. A lot of things NCSoft have done make no sense unless CoX2 is in the works.
As for continuing support for CoX, remember there is a big difference between anouncing a sequal and launching it. Given that NorCal where still in the process of staffing up in late 2008, and a sequal that incorporates new tech would typically take at least two years to develop, it's unlikely that CoX2 would be out any time before late 2010.
There is also this "Coming Storm" affair, and the hint of major story developments in issue 15 and 16. This could be something of a retcon of the CoX universe to set up for a sequal. -
The idea is it's been changed from a mez power to a damage power.
-
It's not for MAC users only. As has been said frequently, you can by it and apply it to your regular account, getting the goodies and a free month.
You don't need the MAC version to play on a MAC, you don't need the PC version to play on a PC. -
It was in the issue 13 patch notes. The stun duration has been reduced though
-
Let one rip: PBAoE minor toxic DoT. Small chance of sleep (vomiting)
Mighty Belch: Cone smashing damge, with KB and -res
etc -
Natuarl is natural to whatever species you are, it in no way implies human. I think it actaully mentions aliens in the description of the natural origin. Hence Superman is a natural origin kryptonian.
Same with technology, there is nothing in game that implies human technology or that it is used by a human. -

The way he say it, i gues there will be new sets or either based on existing sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's no suprise, since issue 14 is really issue 13.5, it will only contain only the MA, plus any other minor features they happen to have done in the time frame.
BABs post in no way implies that there will be any powerset stuff in issue 14. -
-
Well, they could get it from TNT if they felt it was that important.
-
The accolade power doesn't appear until you log on to get the badge, then log off in the same location to earn time on the power, then log on again.

Most ranged villains would really benefit from this, Doms & Cruppers alike - so why only MMs get it
[/ QUOTE ]
Poison exists because Rad was felt (during CoV development) to be to powerful for MMs, so Poison was created as a sort of weakened version of Rad. -

It's option A. You get only DXP during the DXP period, but your patrol juice is not consumed.
[/ QUOTE ]i can't see that happing really if you get to lvl 50 and you got 10 blues bars what going to happen as the way i just read what you put there in limbo so when it back to normal you got 10 blues bars at lvl 50 and nothing to do with them
[/ QUOTE ]
Disbelieve me if you like, but that's how it worked on test. -
