  1. Artic Air can be 6 slotted with procs...
  2. I don't have energy punch on my build, you could take Punch or Kick or AS early on to extend your attacks at lower levels. After you get Energy Transfer (35) and Total Focus (38) you should have plenty of attacks though.

You should put more slots in Bone Smasher though, make this your main attack until you get ET.

Wet Ice doesn't need 3 endrecs, Combat Jumping doesn't need 2. Tough and Weave, however, will need 3.

Slotting CJ for +def is a waste of time.

Hoarfrost needs 3 redrec and 3 heal.

Permafrost is rubbish. It's only use is as somewhere to put res set globals, but since you have Tough I would leave it out of your build. Certainly don't slot it with 4 +res IOs.

There are several possible slottings for Energy Absorption, but it should be 6 slotted.

You appear to have forgotten Hasten. I can only put this down as some kind of mental aberration.
  3. Calculate? Who calculates when we have Mids?

Anyway, the % you get from an SO changes as you level, but the IO is constant. I would say that makes them easier to calculate.
  4. CoT aquired thire reputation for toughness because of the Orembenga maps being such a pain, and because of the ETCs before they where nerfed.

    ...and Chance for Knockdown

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Stupefy - Chance for Knockdown is mislabelled and is actually Chance for KnockBACK

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And boy, does it knockback!
  6. Illusion/FF is highly defensive, it will take you a long time to kill anything with it. Illusion works best with a debuff secondary, since Phantom Army can't be buffed but can still kill a debuffed foe faster. Those would be /Rad, /Sonic, /TA or /Storm. Personally I find FF a dull powerset to play anyway.
  7. Grav/TA is FotM for people who don't want to create FotM controllers.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
yeah but how would you use it.
    Fast AOE or powerful AOE?

    [/ QUOTE ]

With IOs you have both. +100% damage, +100% recharge, and plenty of +accuracy.

    [ QUOTE ]

As for IOs I've already said I'm using SOs in midas to crunch numbers since SO gives of a more stable average.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Eh, say what? What do you mean "stable avarage"? SOs are universally inferior to IOs.
  9. Powerboost doesn't boost damage, only secondary effects.

Only /fire and /thorns have a +dmg buff power, so these will blow the socks of all the other secondaries in terms of raw damage.

    new to stalkers

Yeah. Being able to get to the mission a few seconds earlier does not bring you victory in battle.
  11. Fire is the highest damage primary. I would take /Fire secondary too, since you get Fiery Embrace, a Build Up type power.

However this combo has the weakest control/defense.
  12. Personally I would have a Jump in SJ, but a lot of players have Sprint on in combat, in which case the endrec is the best bet for it.
  13. Just a note, if you are a flyer, take Swift over Hurdle and slot it with a +Fly speed. You will really notice a difference if you have Hover.

    1) How come Focus sometimes just knocks the enemy down on the ground, but other times it knocks them back several feet?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quite a few mobs have KB resistance. Some are extra-vunerable (like clockwork).

    [ QUOTE ]
    2) Since I'm a complete newb, can anyone tell me how I -should- be slotting my powers? I'm so newbish that I only today discovered I can put more than one of the same type of enhancement into a power, thanks to Steampunk who mentioned 2 Recharges in Practiced Brawler.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a rule of thumb, at low levels focus on slotting accuracy into your attacks.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) Is it worth putting a lot of Recharges into Follow Up? I was in a team with a Rad/ Defender and got Accelerate Metabolism. I could use Follow Up before the buff wore off, and I noticed it seems to stack with itself? If it isn't worth it, how should I slot it? If possible, I'd like to keep the buff permanently on, at least.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Big yes.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Skip It:
I forget its name. Because it is totally useless. It the passive cold / fire resistance one. THe cold resistance is absolutely worthless to you. The fire resistance is tiny and unless you plan on being an absolutely "maxed out" tank this is one to completely avoid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is, however one of only 2 powers that take resistance sets, and since the other one is Hoarfrost, which you will want to fill with heal/recharge, it's actually pretty useful, you can slot it for +3% def, which is virtually indespensable, and the +psi res is nice, even the mez resistance one can help against stacked holds. Taking Tough is a better alternative if you can find enough power slots though.

Why has a discussion about Stalkers actually getting a buff turned into yet another discussion about stalkers sucking in teams? Getting pretty tired of these discussions now tbh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's those very discussions that have lead Castle to look at the issue.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    I can't remember. I did tho lol.

I think it was a lot of kiting and slows, but I'm not sure

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doninators can defeat AVs downgraded to EBs. That doesn't mean they are not poor against them, just about anything else can defeat them more easily/faster/with fewer insps and temps.
  18. You must tell me how you deal with the purple triangles of doom then, because I've played ice/ice to 50, and anything I couldn't lock down gave me a very hard time.

Note: I do not consider "a shivan and a tray full of purples" = powerful against EBs. Anything could defeat an EB that way.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Making some toon bad in teams for any reason is not a very bright idea from devs if you ask me. On the other hand, I dont think stalkers are that bad in teams.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A well played stalker isn't bad in a team, it just doesn't bring as much to a team as any of the other ATs.
  20. Dominators are poor solo against AVs downgraded to EBs.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
No, but its an unavoidable effect. If some ATs are relatively good, it is unavoidable that others will be relatively bad.

It's just they put a positive spin on it.

A bit like a goverment saying "We will increase funding for Health" without saying "And, hence, we will withdraw funding from other areas and/or increase taxes to pay for this".

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not the only way you could take the statement. It could mean ""We wanted some AT's to shine in teams but be poor solo". It certainly doesn't mean "We deliberatly make an AT be sucky in teams to balance it being good in PvP".
  22. Most tankers only really shine when tackling a spawn for a full team. The glory of tanking is to be surrounded by hordes of foes.
  23. "We wanted some AT's to shine in teams" is not the same as "we want some ATs to suck in teams".
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Stalkers solo easy, they should team hard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a design philosophy that has any place in a MMO, IMO.

Anyway, brutes can solo at least as quickly as stalkers, and they are also good in teams.
