um no. The most popular primary atm is Fire. Illusion is probably a close second and is probably the all time most popular primary.

To be honest, you'll be hard pressed to find a 'unique' controller primary.
As Archy, above, said Fire and Illusion are the most popular.
Just stick with a powerset that suits your play style and one that you think looks cool, FotM sets come and go, but you still have to enjoy the character, no?

If you ignore that Fire/ and Illusion/ exist - sure.
For fear of being Lynched, what does it matter? If you build your toon, and play it well, and more importantly *enjoy it*, regardless of a potentialy slew of 'omg u r FotM n00b', you'll still have fun, right?
I've played Kat/DA and FF/Psi, and am currently focusing on Illu/Storm (potentially FotM, i know), but i have NEVER had as much fun as on this new 'troller. Ignore those who will point a finger at your build, how you play is how you play, right? Nobody's business but your own :P

FotM builds are good at what they do, and so are fun at what they do. So it's not as overall fun as you said =P
i've got my grav/rad to 27. Started it because i teamed a long time ago with a grav and thought 'wow thats cool' as bits of furniture flew all over the place. still love it, crawling slowly upwards. Just play what feels good, stuff the 'fire/kin' fans who only do what is 'now', tommorrow they will be doing something else.

Indeed. I actually created mine as an anti-FotM to balance out playing a Fire/Rad.
The universe is at harmony again.
No one's mentioned Earth. Does that mean I'm playing the least FotM at the moment ? 
Who cares anyway, just play what you enjoy.
I would say yes, Earth is the least common in my experience.

My controllers are Mind/Empathy, Gravity/Kinetics and Earth/Storm.
An I got nothing against FotM! Just are the ones that made more temathic sense to me...

Earth seems to be least loved.
I always thought Grav was pretty rare, despite being the best :P
2 AoE holds (if you buy a purple), AoE intange, AoE tp/stun, pet that holds....what' not to love
Well I'm playing an Earth/Empathy as the first troller I've played beyond single digits (currently level 39) and loving it
Personally, I find Gravity, after illusion, to be the weakest controller primary (in regards to raw holds, mez etc) until you get your pet.
Mind being the strongest, in terms of holds, mez etc.
Ice, Fire and Earth being in the middle ground, having (in a roundabout way) the same number of control powers.

Playing around a bit, I finally decided to roll up a Controller. Now, since I didn't want to have the over-popular "FotM" power sets, I thought I'd settle for gravity. Looking at this forum however, it seems I made a mistake... is gravity actually the hottest primary right now?
