Hi,
I have a question surrounding this badge as I hosted an event for some people on the Champion server tonight to get this along with getting the rest of the collection for Arena All-Star.
Now, this could be a tech/bug issue or a problem blamed on my ignorance, but between the 8-10 of us who showed, we could not get a Swiss Draw match underway.
It seemed the old, easy way to do this was to invite the same AT to a swiss draw teamed match and then begin. However, and perhaps with the i17 patch, this is no longer the case. Furthermore, about all of us were looking into possible combinations on how to start one in the terminal with nothing seeming to work.
So, is there a known issue at the moment or is there something extra that we needed to try? -
Good job on the people that showed for the event. Got the first 3 badges for probably everyone, and Pentad for a good group of people before the mother ship raid won people's attention.
I'll reschedule for the remaining who need the Pentad Victor badge.
The swiss draw didn't kick off tonight as the arena is a little wonky. I'm guessing since the i17 patch was implemented the terminals have a few glitches. I'm going to research in the forums or somewhere else why this couldn't be done.

Remember that if we do need the pentad with every other AT, we can fight at low levels to accomplish it. Once we get 1-2 more ppl, ATs can be created to fill the gaps if everyone has at least 1 space on their champ list. -
Hey Champ,
I'm proposing a scheduled time for those badge hunters out there to get a select few badges that can be difficult to achieve on their own. This, as the title states, are the arena pvp badges that lead to the accolade "Arena All-Star".
Note: This is not a pvp event and will not be treated as such. All listed matches will be unrated. However, for those of you who want to after all is said and done, I encourage everyone to stick around and have some fun.
I will write a quick description on each badge that can be earned, and feel free to check out badge-hunter.com or the wiki for a more detailed summary:
Arena Victor - Win an arena match. (I believe this one can be earned for just winning any type of match.)
Arena Duelist - Win an arena duel. This can be done quickly between a 1v1 in the arena with a "last man standing" as the objective. If someone can't be paired up during the designated time, I'll stay to let them win a match against me.
Arena Survivalist - Win a Free for All Match. This can be done with the same scenario as Arena Duelist.
Tournament Victor - Win a Swiss Draw Match. This badge will require 8 people to start. Unfortunately, this can take some time as only one person out of the 8 will receive the badge. However, I believe the quickest way possible is to let the winner live while everyone else free for alls on each other.
Pentad Victor - Probably the hardest of the 5 to get as it is very tedious. It requires one type of each AT in a pentad/septad match. This means a team consisting of 1 scrapper, blaster, troller, defender, and tanker to go against another hero hero team with the same match up, or villain team with one of each respective ATs. This will be 10 ATs in all, or 14 for the versus pentad which CAN include epic ATs. No way getting around this one in a simple way. Accommodation will require people to switch to a respective AT to fill the team's gap.
So there you have it. All 5 arena badges that can be accomplished in one night. Some of you may even find it fun to participate if you have never entered the arena before. I'm currently 7 badges away from what I consider a full collection, so I'm adamant about getting this started soon-ish.
Setting aside time myself for Thursday, May 6th which allows a week for reschedule and time for details to be hammered out. With switching, loading, and finishing fights, expect this badge collecting event to run 2, maybe 3 hours.
I'm going to set up a sign up list to make sure at least 10-14 people will show. Of course, if there's more than hopefully there's no worry about not having enough people.
Leave a global name and possible higher-level ATs you can bring.
Edit: forgot to add a time, but thinking around 6pm EST. Can easily be changed according to schedules. We will meet in Pocket D.

Plus if you're truly team oriented then you will be spending quite a bit of your team laying field effects and stopping (debuffing) heavy hitters.The damage from the immobs and the containment on your APP blast will make your damage output go approximately from "terrible" to just "bad". (I am leaving aside Animate Stone here because Rocky does not benefit from Containment anyway.) Soloing, the difference between terrible and bad is fairly significant. On teams, the difference between terrible damage and bad damage is not especially noticeable, while the difference between having or not having a given utility power may be considerably moreso.
If you feel like you want to rely on the AoE dmg in your APPs then throwing down quicksand+stalagmites and then firing off your AoE will do fine. The mobs will still stick around for a burst damage attack and be slow enough for DoT AoEs. The only mobs that will be impartial to the KD would be wolves, which iirc can get out of immob. effects easily too.
There's two KD potential powers that stack each other nicely in both sets. Earthquake and Sleet. You really don't want to miss out on their quick-recharging potential. -
I have an Earth/Ice at 50 that was really fun to level.
Mainly because of all the -def and -res potential that you can dish out. It's also one of the best field troller I've been able to play around with as you can easily control 2 mobs and maybe 3 with soft control until the finish of the fight.
I agree, solely with the reason you're /ice, that the AoE immob. doesn't compliment the build well. This is because you have both potentials of earthquake+sleet that keeps +4 mobs bouncing with np. They also come up fairly quickly.
Volcanic gas will keep mobs held pretty well... and stalagmites is a plus for when it's not up. Stick stag into that EQ+sleet combo for some well soft controlled mobs. -
I was thinking that the ban-stick only hit those creators of such AE farms? And it was only a short suspension (time to sit in the corner and think about it) while coming back to having -1 to the number of AE arcs that account could create?
The only true "banned" accounts were those that exploited such old AE enemies like fire imps for the mass ticketing... and maybe xp, or some of the infamously easier boss farms?
Otherwise, why not suspend accounts that do battle maiden or demon farms? -
I'd just be happy with a server not tied to test. Anyone who has been adopted by champ over the last X many years has seen their server go down a few times short of a heavy populated server such as Freedom.
As for the servers... I'd rather not have 3-4 servers, but something less than 11 servers with a staff that can respond quicker to game altering needs. -

Problem: you CAN NOT rely on defense in pvp any more unless you can slot something to a super high range in the 60's in a normal pve setting, and even then anyone with some +tohit under their belt is going to easily break it.
That being said, this stalker can be mainly used for teaming or kill stealing. I wouldn't try to solo unless you have demonic or overload ready.
You also have only 14 KB protection. Need to bring that up to around the 30's imo. -

I dunno, I find that scrappers do pretty well against quite a few other ATs. Ya know... regen scraps. Other than that, blasters ftw.
IF you have a scrap worth a damn, maul away at targets mano a mano and try not to get interference. You'll do fairly well against the "average" player, but don't be surprised when you start getting frustrated against ranged targets, or multiple enemies attacking you at once. Then it becomes a game on how well your phase will work and how close the base is. -
yes, but 10 minutes in what avenue?
10 min after receiving a drop or 10 min after defeating said target?
Such as billy dies 10 times by the same attacker in a limited time. CAN you receive a reward if you are still receiving "you have defeated said target previously" message or do you need to still wait for rep drops to be reset on that particular enemy for the chance for IO drop?

Pushing the topic back on to a steady path...
I know that pvpIO's drop only from kills that yield a rep. And I heard that if you receive one, you will be on a 10 min timer until you are able for another one to drop.. which might be about 10 weeks but I dunno...
Anyway, since the drops are centered around kills that yield rep, does that mean you have to wait for the rep you received from killing a target to reset before a chance to get an IO?
ie - you killed said target, and if you killed said target with the message "you receive no rep from so-and-so for defeating them earlier", do you have to wait until that timer diminishes before getting an IO reward? -
Since I'm sticking to resistance based toons, I can only shed light on what defense is in pvp at the moment since it's probably the best way to answer the question.
Under the assumption that you've been fighting awhile, you've probably seen what diminishing returns does to powers. So, defense also gets bumped down.
I have a widow that has 60ish ranged defense in pve after using mind link. With DR, it gets bumped down to 40ish. Against normal enemies that do not have +tohit active, such as build up or aim buffed, the defense does pretty well at 45%+.
However, since most builds have a +tohit such as build up/aim, toggle tohits, click tohits, and stacked rages.... your defense becomes rather useless unless fighting a flimsy build or you have elude up your sleeve.
If odds are in your favor for a 1v1, go with the defensive build at the 45%+ range after DR and unleash as much damage as you can before your life eventually gets whittled down. -
What is the point of these badges? I'm used to anniversary badges, but what contributes to the achievement of a "loyalty" badge?

It really isn't the best to try to pvp with, unless you have a lot of time, inf, and experience with a little bit of patients. There's a few decent claw scrappers in siren's on freedom... but you won't find much.
If you are adamant on making one, go regen. Can't go wrong with regen. -

Not sure what you're referring too with the avatar... it has been set by the forum's standard dimensions.
And with IOs the def can be set fairly high through sacrificing slots and powers specifically to raise def... but yes it's to an amount probably negligible with tohit checks.

I'm recently dusting off an old fire/EM tank... which was decent before the EM nerf and i13 changes... and was wondering the best benefit for IO slotting.
So, would it be better to go for HP, Recharge, or mixing to get enough defense for 35% ranged def after DR? I can seemingly mix in HP/def or Recharge/def but not HP/rech to get the most out of the build.
Anyway, suggestions from others who have been bouncing around with their fire/SS tanks or brutes since I had seen quite a few of them before the elec armor change.

Edit: Forgot to mention: The recharge is about 50% and the HP Boost would put the HP around 2,500.
I'll post a build if needed, but more looking for which direction to go... not build advice. -

7) I would strongly suggest getting the Fitness pool, and going for Stamina.
One reason of many - you will be attacking with a lot of AoE's and a cone. Even slotting the most end redux in those powers you will still see a heft toll of end usage after using them over and over... especially with your ST attacks... and ESPECIALLY with focused accuracy
