Pylon Competition!
Sounds fun, but just one question:
Will there be any consideration given to the location of the pylon while fighting it? Some of them are in tougher spots than others, or are surrounded by cover in some way while others are in the open? I'm not sure if it's gonna matter much, but if it does I'm just bringing it up to cover that base.
Edit: after re-reading the rules, it seems that Pylon 17 will be the only target. Are we assuming it will respawn between fights? I've never tried to solo or duo a pylon, so I've got no clue how tough it might be or how long it should take.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
It will be Pylon 17 for everyone. So equal opportunity pylon aggro.
I can't remember for sure, but don't the pylons have something like a 30 minute respawn time? Might make it problematic to have everyone take out the same one.
You could do all of the Pylons, just have the envigilator go with each participant to their pylon.
To account for increased risk you could skip the pylons right by the base of the Mothership as those are the ones that have roaming 54 EBs and spawns by them.

Ok didn't know about the 30 min respawn timer. So yes we will be moving around and will avoid the ones with the 54 EB's indeed.

As for during the event, I'd think almost all of the pylons would be fine, assuming it'll be primarily 50s competing, only the pylons in the NE corner have 54 stuff around them (iirc) and there's a fair amount of space to work in.

Might I suggest you amend the rules to say
"Only tier 1 inspirations, no red inspirations."
Because while purples, blues, and greens might well be necessary,
Reds effect different ATs differently.
My main complaint here is for brutes.
Most of their damage comes from their rage, so a +25% doesn't really help them much. 4 small reds only give them +25% dps, and even 8 only adds 67%. Compare to (most) blasters or scrappers whom these would double and triple their dps.
Similar versions of this argument remain true for /dark and /shield scrappers (and tanks), masterminds, and (theoretically) trollers who get most of their damage out of their pets. (Who would likely be the second on a team, not the primary, but still, it could happen)
Now, if that's what you were going for ("bring out your two best scrappers (or scrapper/blaster, or one of the two and a severe debuffer) to see who can down a Rikti Pylon!"), Awesome! But I think that removing reds might open up the field to a bit more competition.

The biggest thing for me is I am against eliminating anything that comes naturally with a character. I don't like to eliminate AT's either because I want everyone to be able to play. Inspirations, powers and enhancments are just part of the game. I think challenges should allow people to use those things. "Extra" crap that everyone doesn't have equal access to should not be allowed.
Okies.
'twas just a thought.

Not that it really matters. Nearly any defender, controller, or corrupter with a -regen debuff will beat any melee toon in this competition, 'specially if said debuffer also has resistance debuffs (not sure about MMs). I think the only way for a melee toon to win is for he/she to be paired with a fat debuffer.
I'm not going to be online around that time, but do you think a video entry would work as well?
As long as it's previous to the date?
